Gov’t to offer aid for El-Niño stricken MisOr areas T

he Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgrO) of Misamis Oriental has identified six municipalities that are heavily affected by El Nino. The long dry spell has been damaging crops and agricultural & aquacultural products in the Municipalities of Balingasag, Lagonglong, Naawan, Opol, Claveria and Jasaan, all in the province of Misamis Oriental.

A total of 50,000 million pesos financial assistance was extended by Governor Bambi Emano into the body of a farmer called SALIFA ( San Juan - Linabu Farmers Association ). It is for the further development of the agriculture program in the Province of Misamis Oriental.

Provincial Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano ordered PAgrO to carry out studies and submit to him a comprehensive result on the extent of damage brought about by the El Nino and to prepare for aids to the rehabilitation of farmers in the soonest time possible. The Provincial Government has to allocate P1,697,280 to the project

A n est i mated of P100,000 was handed over by Governor Bambi Emano to two cooperatives in Misamis Oriental. This was composed of the First United Community Club Consumers Cooperative (FUCCCCO) who was given P50,000 as assistance to senior citizens in the municipality of Tagoloan. The amount was given during the visitation of Vice President Jejomar Binay in Tagoloan last May 17, 2015. Another P50,000 was handed over to the San Juan Linabu Farmers Association (SALIFA) in the municipality of Balingasag. It was happily accepted by Mr. Benjamin Ellarina,

president of FUCCCCO and by Renante Galea, president of SALIFA together with their members, respectively. Gov. Bambi Emano personally extended the aid for further development of various associations in the municipalities. Because of this, Renante Galea, chairman of the group expressed their gratitude to Gov. Bambi Emano. The aid will be used for further improvements in their livelihood. Gov. Bambi Emano believes that cooperativism will bring a huge economic relevance to livelihood of each member, especially to the people of Misamis Oriental.

TESDA 10 conducts 1st Mindanao Zonal Dual Trng Partnership forum CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- With the aim to achieve the commitment of different industries and Technical Vocational Institution (TVI) in implementing Republic Act (RA) 7686 otherwise known as the Dual Training System, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) region 10 organized the 1st ever Mindanao Zonal Dual Training Partnership Forum on 26 May 2015 in Cagayan de Oro City. Present in the event were some of the TESDA officials and employees and TVIs coming from different regions in Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce (OROCHAMBER) and Industries, and some private sectors. In an interview with Nazario Villamor, Supervising Technical Education Skills and Development Specialist of TESDA Lanao Del Norte, he pointed out four training modality

DPWH Region 10 submits report to Vice Governor Joey G. Pelaez

Out of 11 bridges, 3 are in a bad condition while 8 in poor condition

Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to check, monitor, and reinforce the structural integrity of all bridges in Misamis Oriental to withstand future calamities and avoid greater damage to the province as a whole.” The resolution was immediately sent to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson and DPWH Regional

Director Evelyn Barosso PhD, CESO III for immediate action. Vice Governor Pelaez cited “that many other bridges in Misamis Oriental are already decades-old and need significant assessment and reinforcements to hold out against the wrath of nature brought about by climate change” and that

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10 will be conducting series of townhall meetings, provincial dialogues and orientations for BottomUp-Budgeting (BuB) Local Monitoring Teams from May to June 2015. Lawyer Rene K. Burdeos, regional director, DILG, region 10, said these activities will serve as an avenue to disseminate information with regards to the 2013-

2015 BuB project implementation. Presentation of the status of BuB projects and the sharing of problems encountered which caused delay in the implementation will encompass the townhall meetings. These will be attended by at least 50 participants comp os ed of regional poverty reduction action team (RPRAT) and local poverty reduction action team (LPRAT) members, regional coordinator (RC)

and community mobilizers (CMs). The meetings will be conducted in Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, 10 municipalities and two cities in the province of Bukidnon; two municipalities in Lanao del Norte; one city and one municipality in Misamis Oriental; one city and four municipalities in Misamis Occidental. Meanwhile, the one-day provincial dialogue aims to answer gaps and accelerate project implementation.

DSWD collaborates with govt agencies to support PNP SAF family members CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) recently conduc ted a Regional Inter-Agency Workshop (RIAW) which was actively participated by various na-

tional government agencies including the Philippine National Police (PNP). This is to signify their respective program support to the remained families of the three PNP Special Action Force (SAF) members from the region. The Mamasapano in-

cident left an agonizing experience particularly to the families and dependents of the deceased 44 PNP SAF members, which prompted the government to continue in delivering its services in support to the affected families. The RIAW was initially

conducted by the Office of the President involving the national government agencies through their department secretaries last March 26 and 27. In continuation of their efforts, the regional office conducted this activity particularly to establish inter-

agency convergence teams to identify the appropriate livelihood assistance for the beneficiaries and gather as much support to ease the lives of the remained families of the PNP SAF members. The project is aimed at rehabilitating the farms damaged by the long dry spell, at contributing towards the attainment of the goals and objectives of the food security program of the province, and at improving and sustaining productivity by providing the appropriate agricultural support services to farmers in the province. It is expected to recover the damage caused by the long dry spell, to generate jobs, to increase fertilizer application using organic fertilizers and to prepare farmers to be resilient especially in times of calamities. Farm Inputs “I already directed the PAgrO to start the procurement process in order to stuck up essential farm inputs to help our farmers get rehabilitated as quickly as possible,” Emano said. Among the farm inputs, the governor wanted to stock up include certified rice and corn seeds and vegetables. “Time is very essential. Our farmers have suffered enough. Our help should e ready when they need it as soon as the rains come,” Emano added. Meanwhile, he said several water pumps have been

distributed to farmers in the province to help them cope with the problem of watering their plants and farm animals or whatever has survived till now. At the same time, the governor who is an agriculturist by profession ordered the agriculture office to continually monitor the farmers’ situations all throughout the Province so as to ensure that assistance is ready if need be.
