DAR Good Citizenship — Jenny Belle Butler Presented by the Martha Hammond Washington chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, this award recognizes a senior for the qualities of good citizenship including dependability, service leadership, and patriotism.

Bond Almand, Cole Devenney This scholarship is presented in memory of Halstead “Andy” Anderson II, who was an outstanding athlete and student leader in the Stratford class of 1984. Each year the scholarship, established by Andy’s family, friends, classmates, and business associates, goes to an upper school student in good academic standing who has demonstrated leadership and athleticism on the football team and personal qualities of integrity, character, and school spirit.

COLE DEVENNEY
Established by Jane and Arthur Brook, this award is given in honor of the five Brook children, Steve ’72, Debra ’74, Dean ’77, Laurie ’80, and Freeman ’87. Following graduation from Stratford, four of the five children attended and graduated from Furman University. Thus the Brook family has chosen to honor and link their children’s experience with a university well known and loved by their family. The scholarship is awarded to a rising senior who is also a Furman Scholar.

Cantrell Scholarship — Isaiah Josey The Cantrell Scholarship is given annually as a tribute to Charlie Cantrell. It is awarded as recognition of his generous gifts to Stratford and its programs. The scholarship is awarded annually to an upper school student who has shown great commitment in extra-curricular areas and displays good character and strong effort.

Evie Tharpe Established by family and friends of the late Summer Neel, Stratford class of 1979, this award goes each year to a rising junior or senior female student whose spirit and love of life positively contribute to Stratford’s overall school spirit. Tommy Robinson Memorial Band Scholarship — Joey Gadd This scholarship goes annually to a rising upper school band student who exemplifies the qualities of Tommy Robinson: loyalty to others, enthusiasm for learning and music, and ability to find humor and the positive side of any situation.

Bee Binner Spirit Award — Elizabeth Sellers Given annually by the senior class to the senior girl who most exemplifies the attributes of the late Bee Binner, a Stratford student who passed away during her senior year, the recipient has done the most to promote school spirit and class unity throughout the year. Other attributes are enthusiasm, friendliness, cooperation, and loyalty to the school and class.

The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program summer program for gifted and talented high school students offers instruction designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
The state of Georgia and the University of Georgia sponsor the Georgia Certificate of Merit Awards, which identify and reward superior scholastic endeavors through outstanding achievement in the first three years of high school.
United Way Golden Eagle Nominees —
The University of North Carolina’s Morehead-Cain Scholars Program is considered another one of the nation’s premier scholarship programs. Nominees are evaluated on character, leadership, scholarship, and physical vigor.

UVA Jefferson Scholar Nominees —
Josie Lamb, Matt Newberry The University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholar Award goes to a senior who embodies the Jeffersonian ideals of scholarship, leadership, and character. The national winners are named Jefferson Scholars and are admitted to a special fellowship program at the University of Virginia. Each year, Furman University, Presbyterian College, and Wofford College recognize rising seniors who display outstanding academic achievement and school leadership through the first three years of high school. Wellesley Book Award — Harmony Nagle The Wellesley Book Award, sponsored by the Atlanta Wellesley Club, goes to a rising senior who demonstrates creativity, curiosity, integrity, and motivation and is dedicated to service in the school and/or community.
George Washington University Book Award — Nathan Dummitt The George Washington Book Award, presented by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Alumni Relations, recognizes high school juniors who embody the GW drive and spirit, specifically with their academic excellence, leadership outside of the classroom, diversity of thought, and ability to put knowledge into action.
