Starting from academic year 2019, undergraduate programs are offered with 3 different study plans according to the assessment structures.

The A1 plan is the traditional study plan which offers only the final examination. The A2 plan includes the midterm examination. The A3 plan adopted blended learning method, which includes two more tests during the semester, collecting up to 40 percent of the total score. The new plans were introduced after the University Reform Committee studied the students’ needs through several surveys. By the second semester of 2020, there are 270 course blocks available in A2 plan and 14 course blocks available in A3 plans.

Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) collaborated with private schools to boost pre-degree programs. Represented by Associate Professor Dr. Pannachat Moryadee, Director of the Office of Continuing Education, STOU signed academic cooperation agreements with the member schools of “FastOne to University” network, at Tawana Bangkok Hotel on 18 December 2019. The agreements were aimed to launch a pilot project that will encourage students to study for bachelor degree in advance through the certificate programs of STOU. Acting Second Lieutenant Kittinan Krutpong, the Advisor of I-Serve School of Business Management, enjoyed the benefits of pre-degree programs, encouraging his students to study with STOU. Many of his students have already earned Bachelor’s degree. As the Chairman of “FastOne to University” network, he put forward this initiative and 19 schools have agreed to join in. The certificate programs offered at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University allow high schoolers, vocational school students and others to receive the certificate that can be accounted for credits in Bachelor’s degree. This way, students are able to save up their time in completing their undergraduate programs. to select from.

Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) was presented a plaque of honor for internal audits for the fiscal year 2019 from the Comptroller General's Department. The Comptroller General's Department presented a plaque of honor for the internal audit in the public sector for the fiscal year 2019 to Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU). STOU meets the standard within the government sector. Prof. Dr. Prasart Seubka, STOU Acting President, received a plaque of honor from Mr. Poomsak Aranya Kasemsuk, Mayfair Ballroom, The Berkeley Hotel, Bangkok. Throughout the past, the Comptroller General's Department has established policies, rules and standards for internal audits, promoting and supporting the capabilities and knowledge of internal auditors, and enhancing internal audit work to be of the highest quality, and leveled with the international standard. Projects and training courses that are recognized internationally are used for quality assurance and audit standards. The are 31 government agencies that passed the Assessment of the quality assurance criteria of the Internal Auditor General's Department (IAQA) and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University is one of them.

STOU Librarian won at the 10th PULINET National Conference. STOU librarians won the prize for an outstanding poster presentation at the 10th PULINET National Conference (PULINET 2020) held on 8-9 January 2020 at Buri Sriphu Boutique Hotel, Songkhla. The PULINET 2020 is hosted by the Thaksin University Library and the Provincial University Library Network under the theme of “Library Transformation in a Disrupted World.” The Conference staged knowledge exchange and academic and research works presentation for library professionals in the regional university library network, libraries in higher education institutions across the country, and the general public. The academic works presentation was divided into 2 formats, oral and poster. The presentations are divided into 3 groups including: 1) Information Management Information Technology and Innovation (IT) 2) Information Services Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Customer Experience Management (CEM), Service Design, and 3) Organizational Management and Knowledge Management (KM). The STOU Library administrators and staff joined the 10th PULINET Conference, where university library network was effectively and efficiently promoted. Ms. Yawinthakorn Thongkaek and Ms. Duangrat Deekua, STOU librarians won the prize for an outstanding poster presentation (KM), presented “University Archives Dissemination Innovation: From KM to Digital Archives”.
