Welcome to the 8th edition of Stockholm Fringe Festival This year we are proud to announce our new exciting performance art platform: the Nordic Fringe Network (NFN) - developed with our partners in Bergen, Gothenburg and Reykjavik. What started out a very humble event in Stockholm 2010, with just two stages in one venue spread out over a weekend, has now become a monthlong celebration of emerging art. The aim for the network is to become a wider gateway for international artists who want to present new work to a new audience in the Nordic countries. One step at a time we will build and develop the NFN to deliver an annual explosive stage art smorgasbord to our audiences. Simultaneously we like to act as launching pad for Nordic talent wanting to take their work beyond the borders. Together with our partner festivals we proudly bring you four thrilling weeks of courageous, current and curious artistic offerings from emerging artists around the globe. Our world-wide artist call attracted submissions from over 2200 artists involved in 721 projects created in 82 countries. It’s hard to put into words how humbling it is to receive so much love from local and international talent, and to witness the incredible force that passionately nurture our planet’s cultural landscape. This year we also celebrate the 70th anniversary of our friends and mentors at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an event which grew from a one-off artist revolution to rapidly become the biggest (!) arts festival in the world. All of the above calls for a celebration of underground art in all shapes, colours or size. This along with the Fringers’ unique sense of freedom in their work is a testament to the incredible force of this underground movement. We salute this inspiring school of artist who persistently refuses to work with tied hands or within predefined frameworks - You are the reason that the Fringe will always stand on democratic soils and that it never has or will be anything but free/unpredictable. Dear audience, we encourage you to take your time in navigating through the wide scope of talent showcased in this year’s programme. Over one hundred companies and artists will invite you to experience their very unique reflections of the complex world we live in.

THE NORDIC FRINGE NETWORK A Nordic Notion The Nordic Fringe Network (NFN) is a new initiative aiming to simplify systems and provide economical touring opportunities for artists applying to one or more of the Fringe festivals in the Nordic region. Our inaugural NFN artist call exceeded all expectations. Over 2200 artist involved in 721 projects created in 82 countries submitted their artistic proposals for our 4 member festivals. Negotiations with a 5th (Finnish) host city are in progress. The aim of this network is to elevate the local through the global. To act as gateway to the Nordic region for overseas artist but most of all to be a launching pad for Nordic fringe artists wanting to share their work globally. In 2017 NFN has worked hard to lay the ground for collaborations with Brighton Fringe (UK), Bugger Fringe (Cyprus) and Sydney Fringe (Australia). Next year we will double the opportunities for local artist to join forces in a series of “Nordic Seasons” at several of our partner festivals. PARTS! is a concept bringing you new performing arts from talented artists. PARTS! present artists on the rise and artists that looks to take their artistic expression to the next level. PARTS! is a product of the long term love affair between Stockholm Fringe Festival and Studiefrämjandet. The first ever PARTS!-stage saw daylight at Stockholm Fringe Festival two years ago. This year we return again with new performances - Check out our PARTS!-artists in the programme! PARTS! is a concept from Studiefrämjandet.
Högkultur – scen & möte is Studiefrämjandets new space for theatre, dance, game and art located in the suburb Högdalen. With a total of 200 squaremeters Högkultur is a flexible cultural meetingpoint with blackbox/small stage, art studio and meeting rooms. Studiefrämjandet is one of the largest study associations for adult education in Sweden. We work mainly in the field of non-formal life-long learning. We have been part of the tradition of non-formal adult education – folkbildning – in Sweden since our foundation in 1959. We organise study circles, cultural events, seminars and projects in all of Sweden's municipalities. My decision to focus Visual Identity Design happened organically & very gradually over three years. I learnt which projects I enjoyed, which I didn’t - and why. I love to go on a new journey with my client - and what better way than creating a new visual identity. Projects where I have the chance to reach a design solution through a collaborative effort - discussion, understanding, bouncing ideas - these are the projects that I crave.
Portraiture has always been an interest of mine. Moving to London introduced me to so many new people and new cultures, it was hard not to be inspired by that. I would like to think that my photography shows that diversity, not just in London but in every community. The LGBT community especially has so much to offer in terms of talent and I would love to help showcase that. That’s my plan.

Stockholm Fringe Festival (stoff) is a six day multidisciplinary arts festival, acting as a ‘stage’ for local and international artists to present their innovative work ranging from performance to installation art and anything in between. The festival stands for artistic freedom and focuses on out-of-the-box and “alternative” works that may not fit into mainstream performance or exhibition spaces. STOFF is a chance for arts practitioners to test new ideas, network and collaborate with other artists, develop work, and get inspired by many different creative expressions. Not only is STOFF about encouraging emerging artists who are developing their craft but also welcomes established groups and individuals whose work promotes innovative work practices. Through international guest appearances like The Infernal Comedy with John Malkovich, Mykki Blanco, Forced Entertainment and The Wooster Group, the festival wishes to bridge the gap between the established and the emerging.
