How One Class Changed My Life

In my “Environmental Controversies in Austin” class, I learned about injustices happening only miles away from where I was sitting, such as food insecurity and environmental racism. It taught me that to change the world, I could start with my own backyard.

EDUARDO “LALO” CARRILLO ’22 Biology

Why I’m Glad I Transferred to St. Ed’s

The diversity of the community and the support I’ve received at St. Ed’s has been amazing. My friends who attend other universities can’t believe the network of coaches, counselors and professors I have that genuinely care about me and help me succeed.

MICHELLE FLORES ’22

Political Science / Pre-Law

Dedicated changemaker, legislative assistant at the Texas State Capitol

How I Fueled My Passion for Service

Thanks to a St. Edward’s Legislative Fellowship, I worked with a Texas State Senate Representative on legislation that would improve public education for minorities and support the creation of a pathway to citizenship for immigrants.

Learning to conduct important research and to write and deliver scientific presentations has shown me and my peers our potential as scientists.

From St. Ed’s to Broadway

Tyler Mount ’13, Theater Arts, transferred to St. Edward’s his sophomore year. Today, the Theater Arts graduate is a Grammy, Olivier and threetime Tony Award–winning Broadway producer and founder of Tyler Mount Ventures, a digital agency in New York City that provides support to some of the world’s most iconic thought leaders.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the education, mentorship and real-world learning I experienced at St. Edward’s. Working alongside the professionals in the Actors’ Equity Association union training program at St. Ed’s prepared me to work on Broadway the day I graduated.
