Starr County Employees participated in Cybersecurity Trainings

Starr County Human Resources conducted several trainings on Cybersecurity Best Practices, Prevention and Response on July 11, 2023.

The Trainings were provided by Texas Association of County Cybersecurity Risk Consultant –Brandon Armstrong and Andrea Beard.

Starr County strives to provide employee trainings to ensure that staff is well prepared and informed.

RGC Public Library’s Fun Friday on July 14 featured “Anti-Bullying Program” with Ayssa Bazan from KGR Psychological Health Services and Rio Grande City PD Officer Samuel Vidal. Rio Grande City Public Library would like to thank Ayssa Bazan and Officer Vidal for educating our youth about bullying, cyber bullying, and what can be done to prevent bullying. EC Accepting Operation Round Up Applications

Electric Cooperative’s

Round Up (ORU)

is currently accepting applications from individuals, families, and organizations in need.

ORU is known for helping families with medical bills, assisting after home fires, funding therapies for kids and more. The application deadline is Friday, August 4.

Applications can be completed online or printed and delivered to

Medina EC offices prior to or on August 4. For more information on ORU and where to apply, visit MedinaEC.org/ORU or call 1-866632-3532.

Donations for the ORU program come from Medina EC members who have agreed to voluntarily round up their monthly electric bill to the next dollar, employees who give through payroll deduction and other onetime donations. One-time donations

from members or non-members can be made to the ORU program by mailing a check to Medina Electric Cooperative, ATTN: ORU Fund, PO Box 370, Hondo, TX 78861 payable to Operation Round Up.

The next ORU application deadlines are August 4 and November 3, 2023 as the final application for 2023. Application dates for 2024 will be announced in January.

NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING FOR SOUTH TEXAS COLLEGE

e Board of Trustees of South Texas College will meet on the 22nd day of August 2023, at 5:00 p.m., at the Pecan Campus, Ann Richards Administration Building, Second Floor in the Board Room at 3201 W. Pecan Blvd., McAllen, Texas for the purpose of conducting a Public Hearing for the general public to be present and participate in the Hearing relating to the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 South Texas College Budget. A copy of the proposed budget may be viewed at the O ce of the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services located at 3201 W. Pecan Blvd., Ann Richards Administration Building, Second Floor, Room 230, McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas. At the termination of the Public Hearing, the Board of Trustees of South Texas College may adopt the budget for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 at such meeting or may adopt the budget at a subsequent meeting.
