Escape the blues this winter with our packed season of theatre, comedy, cabaret and music, all taking place in the cosy and intimate St. James Studio. We begin November with a selection of hilarious new shows, from the premier of The Phantom Raspberry Blower, a fiendish radio play originally conceived by Spike Milligan, to the Edinburgh Fringe transfer of Cinemusical, a musical parody of your favourite blockbusters. Literary Death Match; “The most entertaining reading series ever”(LA Times), receives its St. James debut and we host the album launch for Unity, from award-winning composer Sarah Class. Our third year as part of The EFG London Jazz Festival brings with it an ambitious programme of sixteen events over ten days. These include a celebration of the jazz greats, from Louis Armstrong to Ella Fitzgerald, as well as performances by Claire Martin, Dorian Ford and Pedro Segundo. Lunchtime theatre continues with the greatest love story of all time, Romeo and Juliet, and the last of this year’s ground-breaking series Classical Kicks features the Great American Songbook. We end November with the London premiere of Barb Jungr and John McDaniel’s Come Together, a unique interpretation of the Beatles catalogue. We kick off the festive season with A Jazz Christmas Carol, an imaginative retelling of the classic Dickens tale, and The Three Kings, a mysterious and witty new comedy set in a pub on Christmas Eve. And with their charming 1940’s inspired radio plays, The Fitzrovia Radio Hour makes a long overdue return with their Christmas Special. Finally, we look ahead to the New Year with a transfer of the Edinburgh hit, Dinosaur Park (formally Jurassic Park). This award-winning play brings together a hilarious DIY retelling of the classic Spielberg movie, with the touching story of a family in crisis. We hope you find this season as exciting as we do, and as always we love to hear your feedback so do keep in touch!
