Coach
KYLE OWINGS Kyle Owings enters his second year as head coach of the Lady Pioneers golf team at Spartanburg Methodist College in the 2008-2009 season. Owings, 25, is a Spartanburg County native who graduated from Dorman High School in 2000 and Anderson University in 2004, with a degree in Business Management. He recently earned a Master’s in Education at Converse College. Owings currently works full-time as a career counselor at Dorman High School. He also assists the Dorman High School golf teams as a swing instructor. Golf is something that Owings fell in love with at an early age. At age eight, he began playing golf with his younger brother. While a member of the Anderson University golf team, he was named four-time MVP, fourtime All Conference, and a 2003 Ping All-American. He has also played 1 ½ years of professional golf on the Southeastern Tour. In his spare time, Owings is a part-time golf instructor and has a diverse group of students. He also enjoys fishing and is the music minister at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church.
