COMPUTER COMPTIA A+ CERTIFICATION Instructor: William Byrd Monday-Friday, January 6-10 *A+ Exam on Friday, January 10

SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $1,500/student The CompTIA A+ Certification validates the latest skills needed by today's computer support professionals. While many of the essential skills are universal, there are additional skills required to support the needs of businesses. By offering alternative validation paths for specific job scenarios, CompTIA A+ gives individuals the ability to grow their careers in a certain area, and employers the flexibility to choose the validation that best fits their needs. This class is a four-day boot camp with testing on the fifth day. To become certified, a student must pass two exams: CompTIA A+ exam code 220-801; and CompTIA A+ exam code 220-802. The exams cover maintenance of PCs, mobile devices, laptops, operating systems and printers. These exams will be offered on the last day of the boot camp, or the student will be given a 30-day voucher. CompTIA A+ 220-801 covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking. CompTIA A+ 220-802 covers the skills required to install and configure PC operating systems, as well as configuring common features (e.g. network connectivity and email) for mobile operating systems Android and Apple iOS. CompTIA A+ certifications issued in 2011 or later are valid for three years.

Well, you're not wrong but if that's all you think it is you are far from being fully accurate! Outlook is a personal information management system that allows you to create, organize and manage information. In this course you will learn how to better manage your information and your time. You'll learn there's more to e-mail, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes than just "Send" or "Save", including a whole set of tools that will make you more efficient and professional.

MICROSOFT EXCEL LEVEL 2 Instructor: Rhonda Williams Byrd Thursday, February 27 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $129/student In Microsoft Office Excel 2007: Level 1, you created, edited, formatted, and printed basic spreadsheets. You now have a need to streamline repetitive tasks and display spreadsheet data in more visually effective ways. In this course, you will use Microsoft Office Excel 2007 to streamline and enhance your spreadsheets with templates, charts, graphics, and formulas. You will apply visual elements and advanced formulas to a worksheet to display data in various formats. The target students for this course are students who desire to gain the skills necessary to create templates, sort and filter data, import and export data, analyze data, and work with Excel on the web. Students should already have knowledge of the basics of Excel, including how to create, edit, format, and print basic worksheets.

MICROSOFT EXCEL LEVEL 3 Instructor: Rhonda Williams Byrd Tuesday, March 18 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $129/student This course covers how to use Excel for a variety of problem-solving tasks. Included are using Excel as a database, utilizing conditional formatting, data validation, the data series, and the data table; outlining and subtotaling; paste special with calculations; consolidating; programmatic formulas including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, ISERROR, and nested IF statements with AND and OR; and pivot tables and charts.

MICROSOFT PROJECT Instructor: Rhonda Williams Byrd Tuesday, April 1 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $129/student In this course, you will use Microsoft Project to plan and manage projects. We will examine tasks, resources, and project timeline and work options. This course is designed to assist those who manage people, materials, or a combination of both, to better oversee uses and allocations of resources and time.

ACCESS FUNDAMENTALS Instructor: Rhonda Williams Byrd Thursday, April 10 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $129/student Learn the basics of Access, and how it can be used as an additional tool to Excel. This course covers the fundamentals of data management and database design. You will learn how to design, edit, structure and maintain data tables; set table field properties with LookUp values, Yes/ No values, validation rules, default values, pick-date calendars, and input masks; basic querying – asking questions of the data; basic form design; basic report design; and printing.

EXCEL MACROS Instructor: Rhonda Williams Byrd Tuesday, April 15 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $129/student This course covers automating everyday tasks in Excel. Included are the developer tab in the ribbon; recording, editing and deleting Macros; creating Macro buttons; macros in a database setting; beginning VBA using the Visual Basic code window. This course is a prerequisite for the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) class. Students attending this class should be advanced Office users.

MICROSOFT POWERPOINT Instructor: Rhonda Williams Byrd Tuesday, April 29 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 105 Fee: $129/student Audiences not only expect that your presentations are in an electronic format, but they also demand that your presentations be unique and sophisticated in their use of such formats. In this course, you will work with Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 to create electronic presentations. You will explore the PowerPoint environment and create a new presentation. You will format text on slides to enhance clarity. In order to enhance visual appeal, you will add graphical objects to a presentation and modify them. You will also add tables and charts to a presentation to present data in a structured form. You will then finalize a presentation to deliver it.

COMPUTER INSTRUCTORS William Byrd Byrd is a Professor of Computer Science at Pulaski Technical College. He has completed Cyber Terrorism training by Homeland Security and the National Science Foundation, and is a First-Line Responder in the event of a cyber-terrorism attack. Working with heads of industry and state developing continuity plans in the event of compromised data, he also conducts training classes on all levels of cyber security and database security. Byrd’s certifications include: Microsoft Certified System Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Partner, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Apple Developer, Apple Partner, Cyber Security First-Line Responder, and Homeland Security Anti-Cyber-Terrorism Responder and Trainer.

Rhonda Williams Byrd Byrd is a Corporate Trainer and Business Coach who has developed an expansive client base over the state of Arkansas. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Arkansas State University, South Arkansas Community College, North Arkansas Community College, Criminal Justice Institute of the University of Arkansas System, and others. Byrd has over 18 years’ experience teaching computer applications, developing course curriculum, and designing and developing online course content. She is also a Specialist in Instruction of Underserved Markets, a Certified Classroom Teacher of Secondary Education, and a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor. SAFETY & SKILLS TRAINING BASIC OPERATOR ORIENTATION TRAINING BOOT Camp will offer an introduction to what process technology is like utilizing the H.O.T. unit (Hands on Trainer). 8 HOUR HAZWOPER REFRESHER Instructor: Steve Hyde Thursday, January 16 Wednesday, March 5 8:00 am – 5:00 pm SouthArk CFWD, Room 141 $50/student This one-day course meets the requirements in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for eight hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. A 24-hour HazWoper initial training is a required prerequisite for taking the 8 hour HazWoper Refresher. If someone has gone two years without refresher training, they need to retake the initial HazWoper course.

OSHA developed the HAZWOPER program to protect workers at hazardous sites and devised extensive regulations to ensure their safety and health. This course, while identifying different types of hazards, also suggests possible precautions and protective measure to reduce or eliminate hazards at the work place.

SouthArk CFWD, Room 141 $297/ student This course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled waste sites. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment, and OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR.

2012 NFPA 70E: ARC FLASH AWARENESS Instructors: Jim Jones and Russell Sanders, El-Ark Thursday, April 10 from 8:00 am - Noon Fee: $240/student (materials included) This course provides the foundation for more advanced electrical safety courses. Participants will learn the importance of safe electrical practices, how current standards apply to a facility, and how to ensure your company meets OSHA standards.

C-STOP (Contractor Safety Training Orientation Program) Instructor: Varies SouthArk CFWD, Room 134 Fee: $50/student The C-Stop program meets a significant portion of the OSHA mandated contractor requirements. This increases safetytraining efficiency for the contract employee due to a reduction in redundant information being presented. However, the C-Stop program is not meant to relieve contract companies of all training responsibilities. There are elements of the standards that require the contractor to provide employer specific information regarding policy and procedures as well as some hands on training on specific equipment. All subjects are covered at the orientation level. Contractors are required to take this training to receive a C-STOP badge to enter the plants of Lion Oil, Chemtura, El Dorado Chemical, DuPont, Albemarle, Entegra, Clean Harbors, Tetra, Georgia Pacific. These companies also accept similar contractor safety orientation programs such as Basic Orientation Plus recognized by the Association of Reciprocal Safety Council within the past 12 months. The site-specific training for some of these plants is also offered. Two day advance registration is required or a late registration fee is charged. Check-in and photos are taken starting at 8:30 a.m. and classes begin at 9:00 a.m. Registration deadline is 2 business days prior to the class date. This is a ONE DAY course offered on the following days:

Students will learn to interpret input/output diagrams and ladder logic, become acquainted with PLC functions, components, circuitry, testing of PLC programs and troubleshooting a PLC system.

FIRST AID/ CPR/ AED This course is AVAILABLE ON DEMAND Instructor: Scotty Points Fee: $49/person This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. The course lasts approximately 4 hours and is offered on demand.

INTERMEDIATE VIBRATION ANALYSIS - ISO CAT II

Monday-Friday, April 7-11 Led by Pioneer Engineering SouthArk CFWD, Room 121 Fee: $2,425/person (includes certification exam). Minimum of 8 students required. Class limited to 15 students. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to specify basic FFT parameters, establish initial alarm set points, and perform fundamental signature and phase analysis. This class is intended for maintenance technicians and engineers who want an intermediate course in vibration analysis. Follows Category II Guidelines Established by ISO 18436-2, "Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machine – Requirements for training and certification of personnel – Part 2: Vibration condition monitoring and diagnostics." Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:          

Select the appropriate machinery vibration measurement technique. Maintain a database of results and trends. Establish and implement general overall level alarms. Set up instruments for the basic resolution of amplitude, frequency and time. Perform basic vibration analysis of machinery and components, such as shafts, bearings, gears, fans, pumps and motors, using spectrum analysis. Classify, interpret and evaluate the test results in accordance with applicable specifications and standards. Understand basic single plane balancing concepts. Be aware of some causes and effects of bad measurement data. Perform basic bump tests to determine natural frequencies. Recommend minor corrective actions.

10 HOUR OSHA CONSTRUCTION OUTREACH This course is AVAILABLE ON DEMAND This course is designed for construction workers and anyone involved in the construction industry. OSHA recommends outreach training program courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of the job. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA 10-hour construction outreach completion card within 4-6 weeks.

30 HOUR OSHA CONSTRUCTION OUTREACH This course is AVAILABLE ON DEMAND This course is a comprehensive safety program specifically designed for safety directors, foremen, and field supervisors. The program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues. OSHA recommends the 30 hour outreach training course as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Construction workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on specific hazards of the job. Participants will receive an OSHA 30 hour construction outreach course completion card within 4-6 weeks.

SAFETY & SKILLS INSTRUCTORS Steve Hyde A retired industrial safety engineer from Lockheed Martin with over 20 years experience, Steve Hyde has been teaching a variety of safety courses for SouthArk since 2003. A certified CPR and first aid trainer, Hyde also holds certifications in hazardous waste operations and emergency response as well as both 10 and 30 hour OSHA construction outreach.

Tim Hogue Hogue holds an A.A.S. in Industrial Electronics Technology, a technical certificate in refrigeration and is currently pursuing a B.S. in Electrial Engineering Technology. He is a licensed industrial maintenance electrician, residential master electrician, and high pressure boiler operator. Hogue holds EPA certification in handling and reclaiming refrigerants as well as certifications in the areas of reliability centered maintenance and root cause analysis.

Bill Lee Recently retired after 35 years of safety work in chemical plants, Lee is certified to teach HazWoper, forklift operation, and general safety courses. His areas of specialization include confined space training and air monitoring.

Mike Meadows Meadows recently retired from Lion Oil where he served over 20 years as a safety engineer. He currently serves as a CSTOP instructor.

Ron Palculict A chemical engineer, Palculict recently retired from Lion Oil after 18 years where he served most recently as the Safety and Security Manager. Palculict currently serves as a C-STOP instructor.

Bennie Adams Recently retired after 33 years in the chemical industry, Adams has served as maintenance technician, safety technician, supervisor, and safety/security manager. As Security Manager, Adams specialized in the Department Of Homeland Security’s Chemical Anti-terrorism Standard (CFATS).

He is a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute and also holds a certification in ITIL Service Management Foundation from APMG-International. He received two bachelor’s degrees in Management and Marketing from University of the Ozarks and holds a M.B.A in Business Ethics from Harding University.

She received her BSBA in Management with an emphasis on Small Business and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. SPANISH SPANISH FOR SAFETY SUPERVISORS Instructor: Osman Latino Offered on demand. Available on site weekdays or nights. Learn the fundamentals of effectively communicating in the workplace. The instructor will cover general workplace terminology such as common phrases, numbers, warnings, areas, and materials. In addition, emergency situations and preparedness are addressed. A basic proficiency test will be administered at the completion of this course.

Cancellation Policy When we cancel: Classes will be cancelled if a minimum number of full-paying students have not registered by the registration deadline. Early registration helps eliminate the disappointment of course cancellations. Full refunds are given for any classes that we cancel. When you cancel: The Office of Corporate and Community Education will refund your registration fee if you cancel up to 5 business days before the class begins. If you cancel less than 5 business days before the class, you will be charged the full amount for the class. Another person may attend in your place when a refund is not allowed. Some seminars, workshops, camps, etc. will have separate cancellation policies. Please inquire about these before registering. Senior Discount Policy: Senior citizens are required to pay full price for all non-credit courses unless otherwise indicated. TRAINING CONSORTIUM

The purpose of SAWTEC is to create and coordinate a formal system to carry out a cooperative program designed to meet the common training/education needs of members by determining those needs on a regular basis, planning training curriculum, setting training schedules, selecting training providers, and determining fees. All businesses or industries in the South Arkansas region are eligible to apply for membership in SAWTEC. To maintain membership, a business or industry must contribute annual dues or a prorated amount of dues for that part of the initial fiscal year of membership.
