EDITOR’S NOTE Difficult Year COVID-19 pandemic continues in the World. Although new cases decreased in some countries, its speed did not decrease or even increased again in many countries. This year’s tourism problem is not wars, it is definitely COVID-19.It seems that this virus will continue in 2020 and even in 2021. Although countries open their borders, news from those countries are not good. In September and October, which is the Suat Töre end of the holiday months of the year, many tourism fairs that should start cannot be held due to the effects of the virus. Tourism professionals will only be able to do their marketing and promotional activities online. & In this issue, in addition to tourism news, the Black Sea plateaus and Lopburi & Saraburi, two lovely towns of Thailand, are among our pages. We wish you days full of tourism without COVID-19.

Turkey news Turkey Announces Tourism Statistics for H1 2020 Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry announced the total number of tourist arrivals to the country in the first half of 2020. A total of 4.5 million foreign visitors traveled to Turkey in the first six months of the year. In the first six months of 2019, 18 million foreign visitors traveled to the country. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Turkey suffers a 75% drop in tourist arrivals in 2020. With a normalization process starting in June, tourist facilities in Turkey reopened with strict measures to ensure safety and avoid the virus spread. Turkey is one of the first destinations that certified with the WTTC Safe Travels stamp. Safe Travels stamp is launched by WTTC in order to allow travelers to identify destinations and businesses around the world which have adopted the global standardized health and hygiene protocols. Istanbul continued to be Turkey’s top tourist draw, attracting nearly 53.7% of foreign visitors – around 2.4 million in June 2020. Hagia Sophia and Kariye Museum Converted into Mosque Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a decree on July 10 to formally declare the Hagia Sophia as a mosque and another decree on August 21 for Kariye (Chora) Museum. After more than eight decades as a museum, Turkey’s iconic Hagia Sophia reopened for Islamic worship for the first time on July 24 with Friday prayers with the participation of thousands of people. Thousands of people, including top officials, politicians and many who 6 New Focus | September / October 2020
traveled from across Turkey, took part in the traditional Friday prayers both inside and outside the historic site in Istanbul. “Now this place [the Hagia Sophia] has returned to its original form, it became a mosque again,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, wishing the historical monument will continue serving as a mosque forever to all believers. Hagia Sophia served as a church for 916 years until the conquest of Istanbul, and a mosque from 1453 to 1934. After a month later, Kariye (Chora) Museum transformed into a mosque. The 1,000-yearold building’s history closely mirrors that of the Hagia Sophia. Originally built in the 4th century, The Holy Saviour in Chora was comprehensively rebuilt around 1077-81 and again after a partial collapse following an earthquake early in the 12th century. The iconic site was a medieval Byzantine church decorated with 14thcentury frescoes of the Last Judgement that remain treasured in the Christian world. It was originally converted into the Kariye Mosque half a century after the 1453 conquest of Istanbul by the Ottoman Empire. Germany Lifts Travel Warnings to 4 Turkish Cities Germany lifted its travel warning for several coastal regions of Turkey beginning of August. The warning lifted for the four Turkish coastal provinces of Antalya, Izmir, Aydin and Muğla. “Turkey has developed a special tourism and hygiene concept for these four regions in order to realise safe tourism under the conditions of the pandemic,” said Germany’s government spokeswoman Ulrike Demmer. Turkey requires anyone travelling back to Germany to present a negative coronavirus test within 48 hours before departure.

Turkey news Istanbul Music Festival to be Held Virtually The 48th Istanbul Music Festival will meet music lovers virtually between 18 September and 5 October 2020. Curated around this year’s theme, The Enlightened World of Beethoven, the festival concerts filmed at historical venues in Istanbul, Ankara, and various cities of Europe. Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) with the support of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the 48th Istanbul Music Festival will be available for streaming on online.iksv.org for audiences to enjoy on their screens. SunExpress Restarted Flights To London, Pegasus Flies to Tel Aviv Following the lifting of the travel bans imposed by the Turkish government in June, SunExpress has started its direct schedule flights to London from Antalya, Ankara, Izmir, and Gaziantep. And Pegasus Airlines resumed flights to Tel Aviv. SunExpress will start to operate a weekly direct scheduled flight to London from Antalya and Gaziantep as of July 10. Following the UK government’s decision to include Turkey in the ‘travel corridor,’ which is being established among several countries, passengers traveling from Turkey to the UK will be exempt from the quarantine procedure as of July 10. According to the new regulations that will be implemented in the coming days, passengers are no longer required to self-isolate themselves for 14 days if they have not been to another country, which is not included in the travel corridor list within the last 14 days prior to their arrival in the UK. SunExpress operates daily flights from Antalya to Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Stuttgart, and Berlin in Germany and from Izmir to Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Munich, and Stuttgart. Besides Germany, the airline offers flights to many popular destinations in Europe, connecting Antalya to 21, Izmir to 23 and 10 cities in Anatolia, including Adana, Kayseri, Diyarbakır, Ankara, Elazig, Gaziantep, Konya, Malatya, Samsun, and Trabzon to 18 destinations with direct scheduled flights. Pegasus restarted flights between London Stansted Airport and Tel Aviv via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. Flights depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays to Ben Gurion International Airport; whilst flights from Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv to London Stansted Airport via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Pegasus Airlines CEO Mehmet T. Nane earlier said, “We are really pleased to be relaunching our flights following their temporary suspension as part of the restrictions put in place to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. It has only been our flights, not us, which have stopped during this uncertain time, which has seemed to us like years rather than months. For this reason, aircraft are one of the most hygienic environments due to this highly effective ventilation method. Cartoons can be sent to the competition in one of the following themes. 1) Tourism in Coronavirus days, 2) Tourism after the Coronavirus, 3) Social distance in tourism The organizers of the Tourism Cartoon Competition announced that the 2020 edition of the event has two categories; Adult and Young. Adult Category: This category is open for all of the cartoonists who are 17 and older. The category should be noted when cartoons are submitting. Grand award, second award, third award, Professor Atila Özer recognition award, and three mansions will be given in this section. Finalist cartoons in this section will be published in the album. turkey news International Flights Start at Gazipaşa – Alanya Airport Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport welcomed its first scheduled international flight in first days of August. Domestic flights have been running successfully since June. Operated by TAV Airports, Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport welcomed the first international flight with its 166 passengers; arrived the airport from Helsinki, Finland. The FinnAir aircraft was greeted by a water cannon salute upon arrival. TAV Gazipaşa General Manager Ekrem Akgül said, “We are happy to welcome our passengers and scheduled flights at our airport. With the end of travel bans in early June, we started to serve domestic flights. Thanks to the comprehensive measures we have implemented with our stakeholders, we have carried out a smooth operation until today. Today, we welcomed our first international flight. Jazeera Airways Resumed Istanbul Flights Jazeera Airways resumed its flights between Kuwait and Turkey with the re-launch of flights to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The first non-government owned airline in the Middle East resumed its flights to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) on Saturday, August 15, 2020, according to Travel Weekly MENA. The Jazeera Airways aircraft carrying on its board 116 passengers received a warm welcome with a symbolic water cannon salute upon its arrival. TURKEY news Lion Air to Launch Flights to Istanbul, Appoints APG Lion Air, the Indonesian low-cost airline, has appointed APG as its GSA in Turkey in advance of launching flights to Istanbul. The APG office in Turkey will be providing full sales and marketing services as well as call center and ticketing facilities effective 1 Sep 2020. Lion Air (JT) is planning to start a scheduled direct flight to Turkey on 1 October 2021 with 2 weekly flights. The flight will depart every Monday and Friday at 2300hrs from Jakarta Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK), arriving in Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SAW) at 0730hrs the next day. The returning flight will depart Istanbul every Tuesday & Saturday at 0950hrs, arriving in Jakarta at 0230hrs the next day. Lion Air will deploy an Airbus A330 with a capacity of 440 seats on the route. Meetings on the Bridge Short Film Workshop Projects Announced Following the declaration of the World Health Organisation about COVID-19 as a pandemic, Meetings on the Bridge took the necessary precautions and performed its program online. Meetings on the Bridge (MoB) is the international co-production and networking platform organised within the scope of the Istanbul Film Festival in collaboration with Anadolu Efes. Meetings on the Bridge Short Film Workshop was initiated with the support of Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA) in 2017 aiming to highlight the importance of the short films for the careers of new generation filmmakers and to contribute to the increase of highquality productions with international potential. MoB Short Film Workshop will also be organised online between 14-23 September with the support of Asteros Film and in collaboration with Short By Short and Film Rental İstanbul. The teams of 5 selected projects will be working with acclaimed short film writers, directors and producers on script, production, project packaging and pitching. world news UNWTO: Safe Restart of Tourism is Possible UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said, “The cost of the restrictions on travel introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is there for all to see. Between January and May, the sudden and rapid fall in tourist arrivals cost an estimated $320 billion. That’s three times greater than the impact of the Great Recession of 2007-2009 on our sector – and this is just for the first five months of the year. The re-opening of borders to tourism is a welcome relief to millions who depend on our sector. But this alone is not enough, especially in view of recent announcements and measures which seem further and further away from the international coordination that UNWTO has been calling for since the pandemic erupted. In these uncertain times, people around the world need strong, clear and consistent messages. What they don’t need are policy moves which ignore the fact that only together are we stronger and able to overcome the challenges we face. Those in positions of leadership and influence have recognized the importance of tourism for jobs, economies and rebuilding trust. This is only the first step. Now, they must do everything they can to get people travelling again, following and implementing all the protocols which are part of the new reality. As UNWTO has said from the start of this crisis, governments have a duty to put the health of their citizens first. However, they also have a responsibility to protect businesses and livelihoods. For too long, and in too many places, the emphasis has overly focused on the former. And we are now paying the price. It doesn’t have to be this way. As a sector, tourism has a long history of adapting and responding to challenges head-on. Global tourism has led the way in finding and implementing solutions that will help us adapt to the new reality as we wait for a vaccine that could be many months away. Rapid but rigorous testing at ports and airports, and tracing and tracking apps have the potential to drive the safe restart of tourism, all of which builds on the learning curve of the behaviour of individuals and societies during these difficult past months. These solutions need to be fully embraced, not just cautiously explored. To delay will be a catastrophe and risk undoing all the progress we have 16 New Focus | September / October 2020

Now its time for those making the political decisions to close the gaps, so that we all can advance together.� What Travelers Need for Traveling During the Pandemic? A new study based on travelers in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and India shows what the majority of travelers need in order to consider booking domestic and international trips. The study reveals that travelers book only if airlines, airports, hotels, and car rental companies collectively implement ten different safety measures throughout their journey, including fully flexible or refundable flight tickets. The study found that at all parts of the travel journey, it is deemed critical to have social distancing rules, mandatory use of face masks, and ready access to sanitizing gel or wipes, face masks, and gloves. The study also revealed, however, that additional measures still need to be implemented by airlines, airports, hotels, and car rental companies to fully restore consumer confidence. Ukraine Closes Borders for Foreigners Ukraine imposes a ban on foreign citizens to enter the country due to growth in the coronavirus cases. The ban started on August 29 and will last till September 28 and can be expanded if the situation will not get better. The entry into the territory of Ukraine will be denied to foreigners, except those in transit and leave the country within two days, studying in Ukraine, serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have a residence permit in Ukraine, refugees, members of diplomatic missions, representatives of official international organizations, missions or members of their families, as well as drivers and crew members of vehicles, patients, professionals as well as for athletes and artists who come to Ukraine at the invitation of the companies or authorities. www.smpublication.com 17
world news WTTC: United States to Lose $155 Billion World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which represents the global Travel & Tourism private sector, says the massive decline in the number of international travelers and tourists visiting the U.S due to the COVID-19 pandemic, could result in international visitor spending dropping by a staggering 79%. A devastating $155 billion looks set to be lost from the U.S. economy due to the collapse of international travel during 2020, according to the latest research conducted by the WTTC. This catastrophic loss to the American economy equates to a shortfall of $425 million a day, or nearly $3 billion a week, to the country’s economy. The harsh impact on U.S. Travel & Tourism is laid bare by WTTC as the economic fallout from coronavirus continues to burn its way through the sector. Nearly 12.1 million jobs in the U.S. supported by Travel & Tourism are at risk of being lost in a ‘worst case’ scenario mapped out by WTTC economic modelling. Cost of Covid-19 on International Tourism According to the latest data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) the enormous toll of COVID-19 on international tourism up to May 2020 was already three times that of the 2009 Global Economic Crisis. As the situation continues to evolve, the United Nations specialized agency has provided the first comprehensive insight into the impact of the pandemic, both in tourist numbers and lost revenues, ahead of the upcoming release of up-to-date information on travel restrictions worldwide. The latest edition of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer shows that the near-complete lockdown imposed in response to the pandemic led to a 98 per cent fall in international tourist numbers in May when compared to 2019. The Barometer also shows a 56% year-on-year drop in tourist arrivals between January and May. This translates into a fall of 300 million tourists and US$320 billion lost in international tourism receipts – more than three times the loss during the Global Economic Crisis of 2009. While tourism is slowly returning in some destinations, the UNWTO Confidence Index has dropped to record lows, both for the evaluation of the period January-April 2020, and the prospects for May-August. 18 New Focus | September / October 2020

oving to the high plateau summer places, for the purpose of transhumance generally occur with vertical rhythmic movements. Although the migration shows some differences according to the areas, it starts in April and May of the year and completed within 15-20 days. After staying 3-4 months at high plateau and carrying out economic activities, they return to the permanent settlement places, it means low areas in late August or in September. Because of the elevation increase from coast to inland, from west to east, topographic, natural plant coverage and differences in climatic conditions present convenience environment for the transhumance activities. While the low and plain sections which are located on the middle latitude belts, on which also Turkey is located, experiencing extreme heat in summer, the areas located at the elevation of 1000-2000 meters present more easy living and resting environment with their rich natural

environment and mild climatic conditions. While these places presenting very attractive environment and relaxation places, the opening in the forests and meadow areas and the grasslands, which are located mostly at the forest upper borders, create areas convenient for stockbreeding as well as for the relaxation.
The plateaus are seen at north Anatolia starting from east of Artvin, near the border the Union of Independent States, in the Çoruh valley and the mountainous ranges. The places where these are found gathered and abundant are north of Artvin and the mountains south of Fındıklı province near Black Sea coast. Up to the Görele, the high plateau, especially south of Ünye and Ordu, reach their most density. South of Gerze, the mountains located north of Boyabat and Taşköprü are also high plateau.

The high plateau belt goes interior at Ilgaz after following the coast up to the Kastamonu. South of the Eastern Black Sea high plateau belt, lays another second belt. Ardahan, Şavşat high plateaus, the high plateaus south of Aşkale, at more western part Koyulhisar, high plateaus south of Suşehri, high plateaus north and east of Tokat, high plateaus north of Gümülhaciköy, Ilgaz high plateaus, high plateaus north of Ankara lay from Çankırı up to north of Eskişehir. The branch of Çoruh River, upper parts of Merehevi valley, Dil area east of Mount Ararat, Doğu Beyazıt west of Mount Ararat, surroundings of Diyadin, the valleys east and north of Oltu, Kızıl and Yeşil River deltas. At the beginning of this century, every village had one summer place as

well as the cities and towns had orchards. For example, Keçiören, Dikmen, Seyran, Etlik were the orchards of Ankara, Meram was orchard of Konya, Gesi was Kayseri’s, Erkilet was Sivas’s, Buzluk and Müridi were Elazığ’s, Kozanlı was Şereflikoçhisar’s etc. These places were the areas where the fried meat, sausages, pressed meat cured with garlic were prepared and vegetables and fruits dried, same time enjoyed with the cool summer days.

But in times, with the development of the cities, these remained in the suburbs of the cities and became as a inhabited places. It is not required for plateau and orchards to be located at high places. As an exception to that we can name the MuÄ&#x;la orchards. The elevation at this place is lower than the town.

Also the activities for going plateau in East Anatolia having the height of 2000-2700 meters to the plateaus (Tortum, Narman, Kars, Güllü, Karasu, Allahuekber, Aras high plateaus) which start in May-June, after the period of 3-3.5 months finished with a backward vertical return. While the buildings create a risk for health reasons in some areas (East Anatolia) modern buildings are built at the places which are used as recreational areas (Soğukoluk, Belen, Zigana, Hamsi Village). At the 2-3 store buildings located there, along with the kitchen, bath, every kind of equipment are available. But in any case, since these houses are temporary shelters, they are simpler when compared with the permanent ones.

Kavran Kavran, (Kavron) in folk word, is our charming plateau in Black Sea Area, near Mount Kaçkar. The Kavran, which can be reached from Çamlıhemşin town of Rize by road thorough Ayder, now looks like both plateau and recreation area, but it was merely a plateau before. The people of the East Black Sea both for getting relieved from the humid heat and for grazing their cattle at this wide Arabia fields, go to the high plateaus located between the mountains at 2000 meter heights where the forests have openings. The Plateau dwellings are generally two person houses, consisted of old, experienced grandmother knowing how to do basic cheese and

10-15 years old girl or boy who can be a shepherd for the chattels. Plateau houses are very close to each other. Plateau festivals seen in summer months and continued from past to these days. These festivals reflect a certain term of plateau period with the names such as “Çürük Ortası”, “Yayla Ortası”, “Okçular”, Vartivor”. Generally these festivals held same time with completion date of grass cutting.

Vartivor is a celebration performed by the people of plateau, start at 15th of July and lasts up to 25th of the month. The youth play horon at the celebration and say folk song each other. Vartivor rose festival means herb festival. Vartivor has been held late July, beginning of August before. Now it is held with same date, same enthusiasm at Hemşin.

Buna göre2020 yılında ilk 6 ayda 4.507.470 yabancı turist Türkiye’yi ziyaret ederken bu rakam geçen yıl aynı dönemde 18.076.506 kişi olmuştu. Böylelikle ilk 6 ayda gelen turist sayısı %75.05 azaldı. İşte aylara göre ülkemize gelen ziyaretci sayısı; Haziran ayında gelen 214.768 yabancı ziyaretci sayısı geçen yıla göre %95.96 azalırken. bu ziyaretcilerin %1.80 i olan 3.865 turistin günübirlikçiolduğu belirtilmiştir. Haziran ayında ülkemize gelen turistlerin en çok giriş yaptığı 5 ilimiz rakamları da söyledir.

İstanbul’un fethinden sonra 1511 yılında Sultan II. Bayezid’in sadrazamlarından olan Atik Ali Paşa tarafından camiye çevrildi. Galata Kulesi restorasyonuna soruşturma Galata Kulesi’nde hilti ile yapılan restorasyona ilişkin İstanbul Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı tarafından soruşturma başlatıldı. Geçen haftalarda Galata Kulesi’nde hilti ile yapılan restorasyon çalışmalarına ilişkin İstanbul Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı tarafından soruşturma başlatıldı. İstanbul Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı tarafından başlatılan soruşturma yazısında, Galata Kulesi’nde 2863 Sayılı Yasaya (Kültür ve Tabiat Varlıklarını Koruma Kanunu) muhalefet teşkil edecek eylemler olduğuna ilişkin haberler ve müştekilerin suç duyuruları olduğu belirtilerek, ‘soruşturma başlatılmıştır’ denildi. Öte yandan, restorasyona ilişkin CHP Beyoğlu İlçe Başkanlığı ile Tuzla ve Kadıköy Belediye Meclis üyesi 2 kişi tarafından şikayet dilekçesi verildiği öğrenildi.(Sputnik) İzmir’den “akıllı şehir” için hızla ilerliyor İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi, 152 dünya kentini birbirine bağlayan Açık ve Çevik Akıllı Şehirler (OASC-Open and Agile Smart Cities) topluluğuna dâhil oldu. Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Tunç Soyer, OASC ile işbirliğinin İzmir’e daha şeffaf, demokratik ve erişilebilir dijital çözümler geliştirmek açısından büyük fırsatlar sunacağını söyledi. Bu salonda bulunan herkes, Bodrum turizmi için çabalayan, taşın altına elini koyan insanlar. Geçmişte şu eksik yapıldı diye bir iddiamız olamaz. Ancak günün şartlarına tekrar uyum sağlamak için yeni trendlere uygun çalışmalar ve güncellemeler yapmak lazım” dedi. Zeugma Mozaik Müzesi’nde 10 eser kayıp İntihar eden arkeolog Merve Kaçmış’ın görev yaptığı Gaziantep’teki Zeugma Mozaik Müzesi’nde, müfettişlerin yaptığı inceleme sonrası 10 eserin kaybolduğu ortaya çıktı. Arkeoloğun intiharı sonrası yapılan soruşturmada, Kaçmış’a zimmetlenmesi istenilen 8 bin 729 eserden 2 bin 433’ünün envantersiz olduğu, sayım sonucunda ise 10 eserin bulunamadığı öğrenildi. İntihara ilişkin savcılık tarafından adli soruşturma başlatılırken, iddialar üzerine Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı tarafından da idari soruşturma başlatıldı. Soruşturma kapsamında Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’ndan gönderilen müfettişler, geldikleri Gaziantep’te ilk etapta müze müdürü E.Ö. ile 2 uzmanı görevden uzaklaştırdı. Müfettişler nezaretinde başlatılan sayımda 8 bin 729 eserden 2 bin 433’ünün envanter kaydının bulunmadığı ortaya çıktı. Sayım sonunda ayrıca daha önce zimmette görülen 10 eserin ise bulunmadığı belirlendi. 10 eserin kayıp olduğunun ortaya çıktığı müfettiş incelemesinde ayrıca www.smpublication.com 45

Teftiş Kurulu da hazırlanan raporu, arkeolog Merve Kaçmış’ın intiharına ilişkin soruşturmayı yürüten Diyarbakır Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığına gönderdi. Diyarbakır Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, müfettiş raporu ve Kaçmış’ın intiharının ardından yapılan araştırmalar ile mobbinge maruz kalıp kalmadığına ilişkin varacağı kanaatin ardından soruşturmayı davaya dönüştürüp dönüştürmeyeceğine karar verecek.(DHA) Ilıca da Mavi Bayrak ‘landı Türkiye Çevre Eğitim Vakfı (TÜRÇEV) tarafından her yıl düzenlenen Ulusal Mavi Bayrak Ödül Töreni bu yıl İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi ve Çeşme Belediyesi ev sahipliğinde Çeşme Ilıca Halk Plajı’nda yapıldı. Efes Selçuk Alman acentaları ağırladı Efes Selçuk, Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nın pandemi ile mücadelede başlattığı “Safe Tourism” uygulaması kapsamında Almanya’dan gelen turizm profesyonellerini ağırladı. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı ve Sun Express işbirliği ile gerçekleştirilen organizasyon için Almanya’dan gelen seyahat acenteleri temsilcileri Efes Selçuk Belediyesi tarafından misafir edildi. İlham Veren Kent Efes Selçuk’un Efes Antik Kenti, Meryem Ana Evi gibi yerlerini gezen Alman turizm sektörü profesyonelleri, Efes Selçuk’un sağlıklı tatil için gerekli önlemlerin alındığı bir destinasyon olduğu konusunda ortak karara vardılar. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı desteği, Sunexpress Havayolu’nun Alman Touristik Aktuell Dergisi işbirliğinde Almanya’nın önde gelen turizm acenteleri 16-19 Temmuz’da “Safe Tourism” Uygulamasını çerçevesinde alınan önlemleri deneyimlemek için İzmir’deydi. İzmir’in önemli turizm destinasyonlarından Efes Selçuk’ta da incelemelerde bulunan acente temsilcileri Efes Selçuk’ta hijyenik ve sağlıklı bir tatil için gerekli önlemlerin alınmış olduğunu ve güvenli bir tatil için vatandaşlarının gönül rahatlığı Türkiye’ye gelebileceklerini belirttiler. bülten ortaya çıkan benzersiz bir turizm varlığı olduğunu belirten Bakan Ersoy, alandaki arkeolojik kazılarda, dünyanın en büyük yeraltı yerleşim alanı olduğuna dair veriler elde edildiğini vurguladı. Türkiye’de kazma vurulan her alanda tarihi değerlerle karşılaşmanın mümkün olduğunu belirten Bakan Ersoy, “Su borusu döşemek için kazı yapıyorsunuz, altından antik kent çıkıyor. Denizin metrelerce altından tünelle raylı sistem geçiriyorsunuz, kadim batıklar ve hazineler bulunuyor. Otel inşasına başlıyorsunuz dünyanın en benzersiz mozaiklerinden biriyle yüz yüze geliyorsunuz. Ülkemizde kazma vurulan her bir karış topraktan asırlık medeniyet miraslarının çıkmasına o kadar alıştık ki artık şaşırmıyoruz.” dedi. Birinci etap olarak belirlenen 120 bin metrekarelik alanda gerçekleştirilen temizlik çalışmalarında, 6’ncı yüzyıla tarihlenen Manastır ve 12’nci yüzyılda yapılan Bizans Kilisesi’nin gün yüzüne çıktığını ifade eden Bakan Ersoy, suyolları, kaya oyma mezarlar, tüneller, barınma mekânları gibi askeri, dini ve sosyal yaşam alanlarının ortaya çıkarıldığını kaydetti. Alandaki çalışmalarda elde edilen toplam 1271 parça tarihi eserin de Nevşehir Müzesi’nde koruma altına alındığını dile getiren Bakan Ersoy, şöyle devam etti: “Bu şehir kültürel dokusuyla ve medeniyetler tarihi noktasında barındırdığı muazzam zenginliklerle Türkiye’nin ve dünyanın en özel bölgelerinden birisi. Nitekim bugün de yine dünyada benzeri olmayan bir kültür varlığının ülke turizmine kazandırılması vesilesiyle bir aradayız. Nevşehir Kalesi ve Kayaşehir, gerçekleştirilen temizleme ve düzenleme çalışmaları sonrası yeni yüzü ile misafirlerini ağırlamaya başlıyor. Anadolu toprağı, insanlık tarihinin tam ve eksiksiz tanığı olarak biriktirdiği sayısız hatırayı yine insanlıkla cömertçe paylaşmaya devam ediyor. Bizler de bu değerleri ülkemize kazandırmak, tüm dünyayla paylaşmak ve koruyarak gelecek nesillerimize ulaştırmak adına gece gündüz demeden çalışıyoruz. Nevşehir Kalesi artık Kayaşehir ile birlikte çok farklı bir kimlik kazanmış, bölge ciddi bir cazibe merkezi konumuna yükselmiştir. Robert De Niro nun da ortağı olduğu restoran zinciri şimdi İstanbul’da şube açmaya hazırlanıyor. Kendi mutfağında zamanla farklı ülkelerin esintilerine yer veren Şef Nobu, Türk mutfağı lezzetlerinin mutlaka kendi mutfağına gireceğini, dünya genelinde Nobu Restoran mutfaklarında lokal malzeme kullanımına dikkat ettiklerini belirtti.
