 

     

There are 9 rivers flowing through Karnataka out of which, 8 of them flow to Bay of Bengal. Yet, the measures to provide safe drinking water to the people of Karnataka are failing. More than 3 lakh dug-wells have dried and this has severe adverse implications on drinking water supply and irrigation. Inadequate drinking water supply is more acute in some parts of the State, particularly in drought prone districts such as Bellary, Bijapur, Bidar, Dharwad and Gulbara. According to Rural Development Report 2010 (Karnataka), As many as 236 villages om 13 Districts of Karnataka have been facing severe drinking water problem Major contaminants in Water found in Karnataka are, Arsenic Flourine Salinity Urbanisation has increased the need for providing safe drinking water, yet not all urban areas of Karnataka has proper water supply and drainage systems
