Schools Outreach Programme James O’Mahony & Fellow Musicians Skerries Traditional Music Weekend
is proud to bring musicians directly to St. Patrick’s Junior National School, Skerries & Skerries Educate Together National School, through its Outreach Programme.
Summary of the Weekend 2018 marks the 17th anniversary of the Skerries Traditional Music Weekend. This picturesque seaside town plays host to a weekend full of music, song and dance, reflecting the unique culture of the Fingal region. Leading artists travel to Skerries where they join with locals and visitors in a celebration of Irish Heritage. The packed programme of events provides a focus for expert tuition, concerts and recitals, lively afternoon and evening sessions, lots of enjoyment including an opportunity for some ‘Caint agus Comhrá’ and an early evening Mass at 6pm on Saturday 19th with Traditional Irish Music by Inis Rua, Skerries Young Traditional Musicians. This year sponsorship by Fingal County Council’s Community Culture & Sports Department and local businesses is augmented by Progressive Credit Union Ltd and The Moriarty Group. The local organising committee is very grateful for this vital support.
