FROM OUR ALUMNI Whenever he taught God’s Word, Dr. Maak would share about the multiplier effect. While he could start and build up at least ten churches in his lifetime, he could also train ten young workers who would each start and build up ten churches. 2018 年 6 月 - 2 0 2 1 年 3 月 份，我们在一间神学院服事，我先生是行政同工，我教基
本 乐 理、诗 班 和 神 学 课，但 我 的 负担是要办圣乐系 。经过祷告，上帝清楚指示我离 开 这 间 学 院，2021 年 3 月 份 我辞职了 。
神 预 备 与 我 有 同 样 负 担 的 缅 甸圣道学院院长，我们见面交谈后决定在神学院开
办 圣 乐 系 。学 院 安 排 我 先 生 负责教中文（部分时间参与），因为有些神学生中文不 好，需 要 加 强 中 文 。我 们 知 道 在 缅甸开办圣乐系并不是一件容易的事 。以目前缅
甸 华 人 教 会 的 情 况 来 说，我 们需要从最基础开始，因此从6月1号开办了圣乐系 。
感 谢 神 的 带 领 及 预备 。去 年 3 月 之 前，还 能 够 实 体练习和带领敬拜 。 但 是 因 为 疫 情，政府 宣 布 施 行 行 动 管 制 令 。当 时大家都不知所措， 失 去 方 向，很 害 怕不 能 再 唱 诗 班 了 。感 谢 神 的 恩典，经过不断的祷

告，我 心 中 有 了 亮光，继 续 给 他 们 练 习 。所 有 诗 班的练习及敬拜带领 从 实 体 转 为 线 上 。当 政 府 宣 布 可 以 50 人 以 下 聚 会时，诗班回到实体 练 习 时，大 家 都 察觉 自 己 明 显 在 灵 命 及 唱 歌 技 巧进步了许多，从中 听 见 合 唱 的 美 妙，一 切 荣 耀 归 给 神 。

在 疫 情 管 控 下 我 们 努力做本地福音的工作，主加
添 给 我 们 的 得 救 人 数，超过我们所求所想，再藉着
慕 道 班 的 服 侍，这 一 批 信徒受洗归入神的名下 。我

Q1 Share with us how God’s kingdom has been advanced in your ministry.

In my several tours to Chiru villages, I had the opportunity to exposit the Word of God and by God’s grace have received good feedback of how the Word brought forth conviction in the lives of the members of the community. There is still evidence of syncretism between their old animistic beliefs and Christianity. However, the Lord is doing wonderful things through the preaching of his Word.

At FES, we focus on ministering to tertiary students in universities, polytechnics, and Institutes of Technical Education. We understand that this is a very crucial period in a person’s growth, as one is maturing into a young working adult. Many found their faith in Christ during their tertiary education, some found their life’s calling, but a few others sadly lost their faith. By God’s grace, I myself discovered God’s calling to full-time ministry in church and parachurch organizations during my university days. This was thanks to the guidance and counsel from a campus ministry staff worker, my seniors, as well as my peers.
The third church I pastored reached out to Chinese migrant workers. We would send a bus every Sunday afternoon to their worksite to fetch them to and fro church. We would provide dinner cooked on-site by church members, then have a short worship and message in the worship hall. I helped to welcome and serve dinner to the migrant workers. Many of the workers came to know the Lord and were baptized.

At the first church I pastored, I was part of a church-planting team that had the support and blessing of the mother church. Although there were conflicts between team members, I look back with joy and satisfaction that a new church was started and began to grow.

We partner with Rodem House Orphanage to show orphaned children they are valued and worthy as persons. Many young adults in Mongolia abandon their kids due to alcohol addiction and economic insecurity. The children can suffer from the pain of abandonment, which causes anger, depression, lying, stealing, and harm to self or others. Counselling helps them to reconcile with the painful past and enhance self-worth and daily function.

There is a Mongolian saying that “Love is to be kept inside; coldness is to be shown outside.” This affects parenting style and leads to harsh discipline. We developed EQ game cards and donated 30 sets to churches in different provinces of Mongolia to facilitate bonding between parents and children.
2000 年，在 北 美 学 人 培 训营预备信息，祷告中上帝让我计算中国教会所欠的福音的债 。2013年， 在 亚 洲 教 会 领 导 力 论 坛 上，我提出中国教会要藉着还两万名宣教士的债迈进宣教中国的倡议，
得 到 中 国 教 会 牧 者 的 回 应，促成了“宣教中国2030运动”的发起 。过去八年，我见证了中国教会普 世 宣 教 的 兴 起，从 2015 年香港宣教大会到2016年济州宣教大会 。
2017 年 清 迈 宣 教 大 会，及2018年新加坡宣教大会、耶路撒冷宣教大会、西北- 西南- 东北-东南等
国 内 分 区 宣 教 大 会，泛 喜马拉雅藏宣宣教策略会议、天山区域穆宣策略会议等……2020年疫情 来 袭，本 以 为 一 切 宣 教 动员工作会停摆，神却为我们开路 。藉着网络会议，全国的教会互动联结
起 来 。至 今 2 4 小 时 联 祷 已经坚持了600多天，每个月都有几百至几千人的宣教大会在进行，在疫 情 中 中 国 教 会 牧 者 们 为 世界各国进行针对性的守望祷告 。

回 顾 二 十 七 年 前，1994 年 7 月，我 从 新神毕业，在萧招和牧师（也是新神校友）的推荐下到刚
创 立 一 年 多 的 鸿 恩 堂 事 奉 。鸿 恩 堂 位 于奥克兰是纽西兰第一间华人卫理公会 。感谢上帝的恩 典，纽 西 兰 基 督 教 华 人 卫 理 公 会 目 前 有七间堂会、两间布道所及两间布道站 。这其中有三间
堂 会 及 一 间 布 道 所 是 鸿 恩 堂 直 接 参 与创立的，也有间接在经费上或是事工上参与及支持的 。 鸿 恩 堂 也 积 极 参 与 培 育 传 道 人 。初 期 虽缺乏经费，但经过鼓励与信心的操练，已培育了七位 献 身 者，目 前 仍 有 两 位 在 新 神 受 装 备 。感谢上帝，新神给我最好的装备就是释经讲道 。

透 过 每 个 星 期 一 对 一给儿童诗班成员线上练习，成人诗班的成员同时在线 上 练 习，及 安 排 同 一个家庭的成员伴奏及领唱带领敬拜，从中和他们建立
关 系 和 陪 伴 他 们，倾 听及为他们祷告，问候他们 。诗班练习之前有一段灵修 的 时 间 。希 望 在 这 当中能带领他们以神为中心的服事 。

作 为 培 训 学 校 的 老 师，我 与 他 们 分享自己在新神的学习
经 历 和 心 得，并 且 按 着 我 在 新 神 所装备的程度向他们授
课，装 备 他 们 。作 为 教 会 的 青 年 牧者，我也关注教会中追 求 信 仰 的 青 年 人，透 过 牧 养 探 访，引导他们思考接受神 学培训的可能性和必要性。

NSC The Chiru New Testament was published a few years ago, and has brought transformative changes in the lives of our people. I am focusing on producing Sunday school lessons in our language with the goal of giving the overview of the Bible to the attending children. Pray for the Chiru people to continue seeking truth and transformation.

I spend time with younger men from church who have an interest in and sense of calling to full-time ministry. I encourage them to get some working experience before applying to SBC for theological training. I also welcome SBC students to do their Field Education in the churches I pastor. I give attention and opportunities to the students to serve, preach, and follow me on pastoral visitations.

We train professionals (counsellors, social workers, and child workers), so that they can serve the community with good professional service and good intentions and attitudes. We also prepare facilitators for a character-based sex education programme for youths called ‘No Apologies’.

In FES, we believe in students’ initiatives. Therefore, we have the mottos ‘students reaching students’ and ‘changing the world one student at a time’. So, we put a lot of emphasis on empowering our students, especially the student leaders, through Bible studies, discipleship programmes, and leadership training. Through this, we pray that they will be sensitive and obedient to God’s calling and prompting, wherever he is sending them.

God was first in his life. He undertook three mission journeys and spent years in theological education before passing the heritage of faithfulness to his successor, Dr. Michael Shen. His words and deeds were congruent with the vision he had of God’s purpose and kingdom. Elder Arthur Lim, Vice-Chairman of the SBC Board, shared that Dr. Maak “would always say this: ‘As a preacher, we seem to have nothing—but in fact we have it all!’ And this comes out of a

He did not just preach about contentment and thankfulness. He practised it in his life. It would not be easy for us to meet another person like Dr. Maak, a man of great faith. But we can learn from

To provide financial stability and the means for the continuous development of the College SBC RESERVE FUND As of 30 June 2021, this fund stood at S$3,320,000. It was set up to provide financial stability and the means for the continuous development of the College’s principal activity of theological education.

This sum included a S$2 million single donation received from a donor (placed initially under this fund) in the financial year ended 30 June 2020. The Board then decided that this single donation be used in line with the donor’s indicated interest as follows: • S$1 million in the area of theological education through the use of technology • S$1 million to train local faculty-in preparation Netting the above, the fund as of 30 June 2021 would be S$1,320,000, or 2.5 months of our annual operating expenditure.
DESIGNATED FUNDING A single donation of S$2,000,000 was received in the financial year ended 30 June 2021. It was designated by the donor as investment capital for generating investment returns to support the needs of SBC students.
