Backyard Shoez

Dan, Dominique, and Chege are unapologetic aficionados of shoes. Stepping out from their dusty beginnings trading mitumba shoes in Kenyatta Market back in 2001, they now boast of 3 shops in shoe-centric, Westlands. “We import the best and most beautiful shoes from Brazil, UK, Singapore and the Far East”, says Dan surrounded by thigh-high boots, killer heels, handbags, and easy flats. Backyard shoes, incorporated in the back lane of Woodvale Lane, has now expanded to a shop in Bandhari Plaza, and Mbuchia House. Their mission is simple, ‘Source and Supply quality shoes that are comfortable, unique and practical’. “We take our clients to the next level fashion-wise by offering classy and fashionable designer shoes.” +254 720 596 844 +254 724 380 371 +254 715 572 079 backyardshoez@yahoo.com Facebook: Backyard Shoez

“The world will only ever know one me“, states Waithera. Designer and founder of Sera Fashion House, Waithera is bold, bright and bursting onto the Kenyan Fashion scene. Her energy is loud and contagious and is clearly reflected in her creations. The name of her brand, Sera Fashion, is an abbreviation of her name and means ‘night’ in Italian. “The dark hours of the day inspire me to create, and are a canvas for my imagination” she explains. Ignited by fashion legends Gareth Pugh and John Galiano, her work blends colours, patterns, panels and textures to create unique and original pieces of work. Futuristic and yet ethnic, Sera’s expression and originality is a testimony to other great designers such as Bunmi Koko of Nigeria, David Ntale of South Africa and our very own Azra Walji and John Kaveke. Her target market is the entertainment industry, musicians, actors, and artists, and anyone with a flair for the original. “My creations are ‘us’, it’s a collaboration of what I create from listening to my client.” Her current collection celebrates the hero in all of ‘us’.
