Benefit concert will help Pegasus Special Riders

Illinois Rail will perform in Mt. Morris on June 20 Free concert to be held at band shell 7-9 p.m. Illinois Rail, a highenergy bluegrass and gospel band, will make its debut performance in Mt. Morris on Friday, June 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the band shell as part of the free concert series. Several of the members have more than 30 years of bluegrass band experience. The group hails from central Illinois. The group came together in 2008 and plays traditional bluegrass music, as well

as the bluegrass music of today. Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, the Cox Family, and Ronda Vincent inspire just some of the music played by the group. The band offers banjo picking, mandolin, dobro, flat picking, bass, and vocals. Illinois Rail has played a variety of festivals and private functions over the years and recently did a recording session for WTVP, Channel 47 out of Peoria for their use in public broadcasting. The group has released three CDs which include various instrumentals, cover

songs and several original tunes. “The members of Illinois Rail have a great friendship and love to play and have fun with the music,� said event organizer Larry Ubben. “When the group has fun, the audience has fun, too.� Concessions for the event will be provided by the Mt. Morris firefighters,who will be serving brats,hot dogs,chips and pop starting at 6 p.m. Farmers Market items will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. located in the Union Savings Bank parking lot at the intersection of Ill. 64 and Wesley Avenue.

Dogs welcome to audition The Byron Civic Theatre is holding auditions for dogs for the role of Toto in the upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz, on Monday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Byron Middle School Theatre. All dogs are welcome, and encouraged to attend the auditions. Director Joe Coots and Delaney Egan (Dorothy), along with others from the production staff will be on hand for the auditions. No stage experience is necessary as on-stage training will be available. The dog cast as Toto will
