Two of the »Ballets Russes« most famous works have been rewritten for this evening: Jacopo Godani’s »Sacre«, a new version of »Le Sacre du Printemps«, and Jiři Bubeniček’s »Faun« set to the music of Claude Debussy. Wohl keine Ballettcompany hat die Geisteswelt des 20. Jahrhunderts so beeinflusst wie Sergej Diaghilews »Ballets Russes«. Allen voran ragte Igor Strawinsky aus der illustren Runde dieser Künstlergruppe heraus und machte die Ballett- musik gesellschaftsfähig. Dieser Abend verbindet einige seiner wichtigsten Kompositionen. In »Les Noces« wird eine ländliche Hochzeit von Stijn Celis neu gedeutet. Mit »Apollo« setzt George Balanchine dem Gott ein Denkmal, der die drei Musen in den Künsten unterweist. »Le Sacre du Printemps«, eines der bekanntesten Werke der Ballets Russes, wurde für diesen Abend von Jacopo Godani neu choreographiert und auch Jiři Bubeničeks »Faun« zur Musik von Claude Debussy stellt eine Neuheit dar.
