Semillas Fitรณ is a Spanish family-run company from Barcelona. Our company is a seed company firmly rooted in the modernity, young in spirit, rich in its 134 years experiences and concerned about the development and well being of its employees. Semillas Fitรณ is the Spanish agricultural company that devotes more human and economic resources to R&D&I, and has thus become the leading company in the creation of new varieties. Our seed varieties are developed and commercialized in all the countries of the Mediterranean region, Central America and South America. With the creation of DEFI Genetics in January 2014, as a result of a joint venture between Semillas Fitรณ and DSP, Semillas Fitรณ expands its presence in Central and Northern Europe markets with a new hybrids offer. DEFI Genetics has its office in Delley (Switzerland) and it is in charge to continue the breeding work for early Maize varieties in the FAO maturity group 200 to 300. In this catalogue you will find a wide range of corn hybrids, as well as forage seeds. In particular, the new forage mixtures have been enhanced to provide greater value to the farmer.

With its R&D station located in Switzerland, DEFI genetics provides hybrids well adapted to the climate conditions of Central and Northern Europe. Furthermore, the knowledge of the specific market needs for early corn is now available for Semillas Fitó customers with DEFI Genetics early corn varieties.
Semillas Fitó’s goal is to offer the best seed QUALITY always. In order to achieve this, Semillas Fitó has developed tests to reproduce various planting conditions. These tests are aimed to check the quality of lots for germination, the homogeneity of seedlings, but also the ability to resist against deseases. Tests are carried out to check vigour in stressful thermal conditions. Test principle: • Germination of 500 grains in a substrate (soil) at low temperatures.
Semillas Fitó and DSP create DEFI Genetics, a company focused on breeding programs for early corn varieties.
• Counting the number of emerged seedlings to 6 days, 9 days and 12 days. • Counting the number of seedlings at 2-leaf stage to 21 days. Results:
The company, with its office at Delley, is in charge to continue the breeding work for early Maize varieties in the FAO maturity group 200 to 300. The shares belong at 45% to DSP Ltd and at 55% to Semillas Fitó. With this collaboration, DSP gets new funds for its maize program, and Semillas Fitó secures its independence when it comes to early maturity germplasm. DSP is a multinational company focused in seed imparovement, production and commercialisation. In addition to corn, DSP also works with crops such as wheat, triticale, species of hay and soya in cooperation with the Agroscope test stations. DSP was founded in 1994 and at the present time works in Switzerland with varieties that are marketed in more than 20 countries of Europe, North and South America and New Zealand.
• If the number of seedlings at 2-leaf stage to 21 days equals or exceeds 96%, the consignment is certified TVF®.

Description: Insecticide formulated in microcapsules for corn and sunflower seeds. Thanks to its steam effect, it exerts a protective action during germination seed stage against main insects of soil.
Features: •
Nutrieco allows farmers to optimize the productivity and quality of milk and meat. •
Steam action: Force® CS 20 is able to move through the pores of the soil, even in conditions of drought, protecting the seed. In its phase steam is able to enter into the insect and reach the trachea by inhibiting the nervous system. Repellent effect: It also has a repellent effect increasing the protection of the seed.
Insecticide for corn seed based on methiocarb. Mesurol 500 FS prevents damage to the seed caused by crows, pigeons and pheasants. The product helps to improve the health at early stages. The use of Mesurol FS 500 therefore allows maintaining the correct investment in crops, an essential element to achieve the best production results.

Investing in R & D innovation The company invests 15% of sales in R & D, becoming the most important seed company of the Mediterranean region. Since 2011 it has a new research center in Barbens (Lleida) with field trials for major forage varieties (ryegrass, Alfalfa, ...). Also, there are other test fields spread to other areas to check the performance and production of different varieties under field conditions and varying weather.
