Lost and Found
Entonces, partió en su búsqueda. ¡Tenía que encontrarla! ¿Qué pasaría si seguía extraviada? No quería ni pensarlo. ¿Distinguiría la buena hierba para comer? ¿Tendría suficiente agua? ¿Sabría guiarse por la oscuridad sin tropezar? ¿Cómo se protegería del frío?, ¿y de los lobos?
Perdue et retrouvée
So he set off to look for it. He had to find that sheep! What would happen if it remained lost? He didn’t even want to think about it. Would it find good grass to eat? Would it have enough water? Would it know how to follow the path in the dark without tripping? How would it protect itself from the cold? And from the wolves?
8 Il partit alors à sa recherche. Il fallait qu’il la retrouve ! Qu’adviendrait-il d’elle si elle n’apparaissait pas ? Il n’osait pas l’imaginer. Saurait-elle quelle herbe manger ? Aurait-elle suffisamment d’eau ? Saurait-elle retrouver son chemin dans l’obscurité sans trébucher ? Comment se protègerait-elle du froid ? Et des loups ?

Pero el hambre no desaparecía, porque apenas tenía alimento para subsistir. El joven se echó a llorar desconsoladamente, y con cada una de sus lágrimas caían frente a sus ojos los buenos recuerdos que había labrado en su hogar, junto a su padre y su hermano. —¿Qué he hecho? He desperdiciado mi herencia y he traicionado la confianza de mi padre. Y ahora estoy aquí, pasando penurias, con dolor en el estómago, en el corazón y en los brazos. Volveré a casa y pediré perdón a mi padre, tiene que saber que estoy arrepentido y que nada deseo más que estar a su lado.
But the hunger did not go away, for he had barely enough food to survive. The young man began to cry inconsolably. And with each one of his tears, the good memories he had shared at home with his father and his brother passed before his eyes. “What have I done? I have squandered my inheritance and I have betrayed my father’s trust. And now I am here, living in poverty, with pains in my stomach, in my heart and in my arms. I will return home and ask my father for forgiveness. He must know that I am sorry and that I want nothing more than to be by his side.“
9 Mais sa faim persistait car il avait à peine de quoi se nourrir. Le jeune garçon se mit à sangloter et les larmes qui coulaient sur ses joues firent ressurgir de sa mémoire les bons moments qu’il avait vécus chez lui, auprès de son père et de son frère. « Qu’ai-je fait ? J’ai dilapidé mon héritage et j’ai trahi la confiance de mon père. Et me voilà ici maintenant, dans la misère, avec des douleurs dans l’estomac, dans le cœur et dans les bras. Je vais rentrer à la maison et demander pardon à mon père. Il faut qu’il sache combien je me repends et que je ne souhaite rien d’autre qu’être à ses côtés. »
