Education Taping lectures We as fellow students know that every student has his or her own way of studying. Some prefer to go to lectures, while others prefer to work at home. We think that every student should be able to watch past lectures. We are aware that the UvA already does this for first year students. That’s why we want taping lectures for all the other years. Vote for video! Access to more course material Practise makes perfect, don’t you agree? Currently, students have to buy past exams, notes and optional assignments themselves. We believe the faculty should create a perfect learning environment. This also includes providing extra ways to practise. Therefore we think more optional assignments, past exams and notes should be available for individual practise. Free of charge, obviously. Motivating students We, from List-Sefa, believe more dynamic and interactive assignments contribute to student motivation. By varying between writing assignments and more dynamic case studies, such as working with actual firms, will give students a better view of the course’s essence. It will also bring theoretical material to life. We believe this will contribute to greater student enthusiasm. More first-year guidance The current mentor lessons focus primarily on writing skills, instead of personal guidance as it should be. More intensive guidance contributes to set new student at ease in their new study environment. We, from List-Sefa, believe there should be more emphasis on students personally. This way the transition to the university will not be as big.


Facilities Renovation With the renovation of Roeterseiland Complex and E building closed the usage of facilities may be confusing and problematic. We will continue previous council’s work and put all our effort to preserve the quantity and quality of study areas around the Faculty and communicate any further changes to the student community. Room for studying Number of students and programmes at our Faculty is increasing and so it is necessary that there is enough room to study for everybody. Many classrooms stay empty after lectures. This is a waste of necessary space which should be available for students. We want to make sure that all of you have access to environment suitable for studying. This can be provided by classrooms which are there for students in the first place. Printers Did you ever have to print your essay last minute or need study materials for your class? Printing at our Faculty can be a nerve-racking experience with strict opening hours, slow computers and often long lines of fellow students. We will make printing short and convenient instead of time-consuming and exhausting.


Communication Active Communication about changes A shared opinion among FEB-students is that the university must provide information about the changes within the faculty. Examples are the renovation of Roeters, adjustments in the study program and administrative actions have to be shared clearly and in time. So can students prepare themselves for the new circumstances. We stand for internal communication between the faculty and the students. International Communication More information should be provided in English and this information should be better accessible for the international students. The faculty should stimulate the integration between Dutch and international students. This could be realized through more combine activities, lectures and practices. We want to combine the best of both worlds for a better and more internationalized faculty. Study choice Information There must be a clear and personal advice about future study options after 1steconomics and business. The faculty needs to provide students with all the information available and advice necessary to help the students in graduating in the field they are interested in. This must be done plenty in time and on adequate times.


Students Your voice The Students make the faculty to what it is today. And we hope you will put your trust in us to make it a better place. However to continue to improve the faculty and give you a say in these improvements, we think that it is paramount to give students a voice. To accomplish this we want to stress you that we, list Sefa, are always open to any suggestions to improve our faculty. Thesis supervision Your thesis is the crown jewel of your student career. To ensure that you get the support you need. We think that the faculty should provide more and better supervision. We find it unacceptable that currently the faculty cannot provide enough supervisors. The university should come up with a satisfying solution to this problem. Study abroad Studying abroad is an experience every student should enjoy. To make sure that such a program does not cause any delays to your study and counts towards your final diploma. The faculty should make clear what options every student has. In addition to making this clear Students should know what the requirements are for the different courses so they will not be surprised when it is time to make their choice. To make this possible the international office should keep a clear line of communication. Career opportunities While studying it might be hard to see what the practical value is of the skills you develop during your study. We think that the university should provide information on what career opportunities you have. So that students can be more aware of the career they want to choose for themselves. To give you more help, students should be able to interview a professional to answer any questions they have before making a choice. Furthermore the university should actively promote any extracurricular activities such as career events, trainings organized by corporations and symposia.
