Ormond Beach oil and acrylic painter, Trish Vevera uses the outdoors as her source of inspiration. She translates the essence of the landscape into color, texture, and shape. Trish has taken a modern, active approach to her organic paintings. She documents not only the history of the landscape, but also the history of the painting’s surface. Trish majored in art during her high school and collegiate years. Ms Vevera has taught at the high school, community college, and private levels. She has been selected for several area juried art shows including the Halifax Art Festival, Images, Mt Dora, and Deland. Trish also participates in area Plein Air “Paint-Outs”--painting done on site in a particular town or venue. These have included: The Crescent Beach Paint Out, College Park in Orlando, and Melrose “Open Air Arts”. She is among plein air artists painting during the Canaveral National Seashore Paint Out., November 2010. Trish is a signature member of Plein Air Florida. She belongs to several area arts organizations. She is represented by: Art Affair in Sanford, Emmons Cottage in Ormond Beach, and Pasta Art Gallery in St Augustine.

This local gem is located on Beach Street, Daytona Beachâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s original commercial district on the mainland side of the Halifax River. It is worth the trip just to see the 1912 neoclassical architecture of its home, a former bank. A mural of Old Florida wildlife graces one wall, a stained-glass ceiling gives the place a sunlit glow, and a historic race car exhibit previews the racing season. The eclectic collection includes household items from the Spanish and British periods, plantation artifacts, tools, thousands of historic photographs and memorabilia of famous entrepreneurs and, naturally, model cars. All Kinds of Crabs! Nocturnal ghost crabs and little mole crabs, sometimes called sand fleas, scurry around near the waves on Daytona beaches, amusing onlookers while hunting for food. Odd creatures called horseshoe crabs are old timers on our planet and look like ancient relics of the dinosaur era. Their tail isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t a weapon!
