CONCENTUS SINGS CHRISTMAS Concentus’ greatly missed Christmas Concerts are BACK! Making a wonderful start to festive times for so many Seaford people, the choir is delightedly looking forward to being able to fill to over-flowing a melodious space at this busy time, reminding everyone of the sparkle, joy, love, remembrance, peace and happiness of the season. Concentus started rehearsals at the beginning of September, welcoming a lot of new singers eager to try the choir out! As usual they were all given a very warm reception and received a ‘starter’ pack complete with music and tips and paired up with a member in their voice range. All new singers have plenty of time to decide if Concentus is the right place for them. Concentus rehearses on Monday evenings in their fantastic rehearsal venue at Willingdon Community School in Eastbourne. They also have a full day rehearsal in November and for this year, a Saturday morning practice has also been slotted in to make up for the one

CONCENTUS Sings CHRISTMAS 4pm SATURDAY 10th DECEMBER

Adrian White, Musical Director, has chosen an engaging mix of well-loved pieces and some which might be new to you for this year’s programme, including two composed by Handel (one being the less obvious, ‘Nightingale Chorus’); one by Brahms; a beautiful piece by Vivaldi (sung as a duet) and a moving work by Faure. John Rutter contributes four works including the evocative Donkey Carol and the choir sings a traditional Ukrainian carol with lyrics arranged by A Snyder. Panis Angelica’s which is part of a hymn written by St Thomas Aquinas, set to music in 1872 by C. Frank, is beautifully peaceful, while The Ragtime Carol (J Hewitt) sweeps in with bursting energy. There is much more on the programme – carols, Christmas songs (A Doo-Wop Christmas sounds intriguing !), a piece sung by a group, a duet and a trio consisting of Adrian himself, and Lou Soper (Assistant Musical Director) and Jo Fowler (Assistant Conductor). Watch out for a surprise perhaps? As always there is an invitation for the audience to join the choir to sing the traditional carols. You definitely don’t want to miss this annual celebration of Christmas, which will have you leaving with a smile on your face and your toes tapping! Therefore do put the date in your diary and make sure of your ticket, so you can give yourselves this rich, multi-faceted taste of Christmas! The Seaford Concert is on Saturday 10th December at Seaford Baptist Church Belgrave Road BN25 2EE and the Eastbourne performance is on Saturday 17th December at St Saviour’s Church South Street Eastbourne BN21 4UT. Both concerts start at 4pm.
