FORMAT

36-HOLES OF STROKE PLAY

FIELD SIZE

Open to all Southern California PGA Class A members who are 50 years of age or older.

PRACTICE ROUND

Practice rounds and rates are at the availability and discretion of Mission Hills Country Club. Please contact the golf shop (760) 324-9400 for more information.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times will begin at 7:00AM off the 1st tee and 10th tee for both rounds.

PURSE

The anticipated purse to exceed $14,000.

TEES

For the Senior Section Championship, all men will play from the Championship tee decks with yardage tentatively around 6,500 - 6,800. All women will play at approximately 80-85% of this total yardages.

PUTTVIEW YARDAGE BOOKS

SCPGA Partner, Puttview, is offering complimentary yardage books to participants for the tournament. If you are playing a practice round, they will be available in the pro shop, or they will be available at check-in.

WHAT’S ON THE LINE?

The top 10 finishers will advance to the 35th Senior PGA Professional Championship. This includes the Senior Section Champion. 5 alternates.

2022 CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP

ALAN SORENSEN, PGA, ENTERS WINNER CIRLCE FOR THIRD TIME

MIRA LOMA, CA (July 25-26, 2022) - Alan Sorensen of Buena Vista Golf Course is crowned the champion at the 2022 Southern California Senior PGA Professional Championship at Goose Creek Golf Club.

Sorensen now enters the winner circle for the third time at the Senior Section Championship, having also won in 2017 and 2020.

Alan fired a final round of six-under par, 65 to go with his first round of 69 to finish at eight-under par, 134 total and one shot clear of runner-up Rick Garboski. Sorensen carded seven birdies to his lone bogey, with a crucial up-and-down par save on the closing hole to win the championship.

Sorensen will lead ten other PGA Professionals to the 34th Senior PGA Professional Championship on October 13-16, 2022 at Twin Warriors & Santa Ana Golf Clubs in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM. In addition, five alternates will hope to get the call to be entered into the prestigious field.

Thank you to the staff, maintenance crew, and host PGA Professional Ross Fisher of Goose Creek Golf Club for being gracious hosts of the Championship. Their hospitality was top notch and we are very appreciative of the kind contributions.
