The State of California officially banned household batteries and other hazardous products (like fluorescent lights) from disposal on February 8, 2006. City residents can properly dispose of their batteries by recycling them at the curb. Simply collect, package (in a clear plastic ziplock bag), and place on top of your recycling cart for collection. You can recycle alkaline batteries, button batteries, and rechargeable batteries marked PB, Ni-Zn, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd and L-ion. Car batteries are not accepted. AIKIDO for Children and Adults

Aikido is a non-violent martial art. Aikido provides excellent physical and mental conditioning, enabling a person under attack to assume control over the situation without giving in to the creation of violence. A beautiful and enlivening art, Aikido is a philosophy with physical expression. The unification of mind, body and spirit creates a calmness that transfers to daily life. It provides a creative, challenging atmosphere where beginners are consistently taught with care and respect with emphasis on clear, precise movements which become graceful and effective techniques. Children’s classes strive to meet the following goals: development and expansion of awareness, concentration, flexibility, the nurturing of relationships with others, the encouragement of self-esteem, and reinforcement of selfconfidence. Instruction revolves around physical exercises designed to improve physical coordination, such as learning how to fall without injury. In conjunction with basic principles of confident movement, the children are given progressively more advanced instruction in Aikido techniques. About the Instructor: Aikido of San Leandro was founded in 1984 by instructor Pat Hendricks Sensei. She holds a 7th degree black belt and has trained extensively in Iwama, Japan. She holds the highest degree possible in “Aiki Ken and Jo Certification,” and is certified to hold examinations for the United States. Fun Dawgs Dog Training • Human and Dog Friendly Training

Have you adopted a dog or puppy, but don’t know where to start? Does your faithful companion need a refresher course in good manners or does your dog already have some training and you’re looking for a new challenge? Fun Dawgs provides a compassionate and fun environment in which you and your dog can cultivate a successful learning relationship. We offer “By-Reservation” classes (Agility, Good Manners & Real World). You start whenever you’re ready and you reserve the dates you can attend sessions. Miss a week? You won’t fall behind as each team learns at their own pace.

Puppy 1 • Good Manners

GOOD MANNERS • By Reservation

Learn about the behavioral needs of dogs and how any dog can learn to have good manners, even a young pup. Learn the basics of good manners: sit, come, down, walk nice on a leash, etc., and for extra fun – a few tricks! Puppy 1 must attend weekly sessions as this is their most important learning period.

Team members work to achieve Good Manners goals. The first level goals include Sit, Down, Come when called, and walking nicely on a leash. The second level continues to refine those skills and adds additional skills, such as Stays and Leave it. Of course, we’ll have a lot of fun learning some tricks too!

This By-Reservation method allows you to reserve a spot in sessions on the dates you know you can come. Before starting the training sessions, you and your dog will need to attend a free one hour orientation. Free Orientation Get information on the various types of classes, teaching methods and how dogs learn. You and your dog must attend an orientation before starting By-Reservation classes.
