The challenges are many and varied – unpredictable surfaces, rocks, roots, drops and turns. Riding backcountry trails is an experience that can only be intensified by a perfect mountain bike. You need a bike that can handle the challenges of rough terrain without absorbing all your pedalling efforts with inefficient suspension or excess weight. The computer-designed suspension kinematics of all CUBE full suspension bikes have a solution for each of these situations and are optimally designed for their intended use. Whether for race or marathon, all mountain or longdistance travel - for each purpose we design our own optimally tuned four-bar suspension systems such as Dual Trail Control and Size Tuned Kinematics.

Dual Trail Control (DTC) ist ein Hinterbausystem, bei dem der Dämpfer von Kettenstrebe und Umlenkhebel gleichzeitig angesteuert wird, also quasi schwebend im Hinterbau aufgehängt ist. Dadurch ist ein sehr sensibles Ansprechen der Federung gewährleistet und gleichzeitig zeigt der Hinterbau überhaupt kein „Wippen“ mit dem daraus resultierenden Kraftverlust. Für jedes Modell verwenden wir einen eigens in Zusammenarbeit mit Fox Racing Shox speziell entwickelten und abgestimmten Dämpfer.
Dual Trail Control (DTC) is a rear suspension design developed by CUBE and now in its second generation. In DTC the rear shock is driven simultaneously from the chain stay and a rocker link, leaving it suspended in the rear triangle rather than being fixed to the frame. This allows finer control of spring rate curves and suspension characteristics. Suspension kinematics are tuned to match the intended use and we use individually specified shocks specially developed in collaboration with Fox Racing Shox.

Im hochwertigen Bereich kommt High Performance Aluminium in der GĂźte 7005 zum Einsatz. Durch spezielle Legierungstechnik und die thermische Behandlung wird geringe Dichte bei gleichzeitig hoher Festigkeit erreicht. Durch dreifaches oder vierfaches Konifizieren bleiben Aluminiumrohre an den maximal belasteten Stellen stabil. An jeder Stelle des Rahmens befindet sich nur so viel Material wie notwendig. Zugleich nehmen spezielle Rohrformen, gefertigt im Hydroformingverfahren, auftretende Belastungen besser auf.
For high end, we use High Performance 7005 Aluminium alloy which has a very low density combined with high strength due to the special alloy and the hardening heat treatment. Or as in some models, even quadruple butted tubing (meaning different wall thicknesses in one tube), aluminium tubes are reinforced where required and reduced where possible. In this way, we succeed in getting material where its needed most. In addition we use special tube shapes, manufactured with Hydroform technology to better cope with the directional forces.

A new generation is born
Für 2011 haben wir unsere Modelle AMS 110, AMS 130, AMS 150 und AMS Super HPC komplett neu entwickelt. Wir legten das Hauptaugenmerk auf die Optimierung des kinematischen Systems. Zusätzlich zum STK-System (size tuned kinematics), welches weiterhin bei allen AMS-Modellen verwendet wird, haben wir das ERC-System entwickelt. Efficient ride control findet sich in allen „neuen“ AMS Modellen.
For 2011 we completely revamped our AMS 110, AMS 130, AMS 150 and AMS Super HPC models with an emphasis on optimising the rear suspension system. Hundreds of hours of research and development have gone into redesigning the AMS suspension platform. In addition to the Size Tuned Kinematics system, the new AMS feature the ERC (Efficient Ride Control) system. With the newlydeveloped ERC system, all AMS frames (in all sizes) are also free of undesirable pedalling and braking influences, sharing the same characteristics of pedalling efficiency and trail sensitivity and optimised in line with the intended purpose of use of the model.
Durch das ERC-System erreichen wir zusätzlich, dass (modellbezogen) alle Rahmengrößen frei von Antriebs- und Bremseinflüssen sind. Sämtliche Rahmengrößen zeigen das gleiche Verhalten hinsichtlich Vortrieb und Sensibilität. Dies wurde entsprechend dem Einsatzzweck der Modelle optimiert. Als Ergänzung zu ERC haben wir bei diesen Modellen das STK-System weiterentwickelt. Size tuned kinematics bedeutet, dass wir bei jeder Rahmenhöhe eines Modells den gleichen Federweg und den nahezu gleichen Verlauf des Übersetzungsverhältnisses erzielen. Unterschiedliche Geometrien der Umlenkhebel machen dies möglich. Fahrer der kleinsten Rahmenhöhe können dadurch wirklich den gleichen Federweg und das gleiche Federverhalten genießen, wie ein Biker der größten Rahmenhöhe.
Size Tuned Kinematics means that each frame size on a model has exactly the same suspension travel and virtually identical leverage ratio curves. Thanks to careful design of linkage geometries, riders of the smallest frame geometries can therefore enjoy the same suspension travel and action as a rider on the largest frame size.

Die Kinematik wurde federwegspezifisch hinsichtlich Sensibilität, Vortrieb und störenden Einflüssen durch Bremsen und Pedalieren optimiert. Dazu war es notwendig, alle Drehpunkte des Hinterbaus speziell zu positionieren. Sämtliche Rahmengrößen zeigen das gleiche Verhalten hinsichtlich Vortrieb und Sensibilität.
The kinematics have been optimised specifically to travel in respect of sensitivity, drive and no bossing. Therefor it was necessary to specially position all rear pivot points. All frame sizes have the same characteristics in terms of drive and sensitivity.

Nur wir verwenden unterschiedlich, individuell angepasste Umlenkhebel, um bei jeder Rahmenhöhe den gleichen Federweg und den nahezu gleichen Verlauf des Übersetzungsverhältnisses zu erzielen. Fahrer der kleinsten Rahmenhöhe können dadurch den gleichen Federweg und das gleiche Federverhalten genießen, wie ein Biker mit der größten Rahmenhöhe. Die Umlenkhebel sind aus einer hochfesten Aluminiumlegierung dreidimensional geschmiedet, um zum einen eine optimale Ergonomie und zum anderen ein optimales Verhältnis von Gewicht zu Steifigkeit und Stabilität zu erreichen.
Only CUBE uses different pivot arms for different frame sizes. With this methode we achieve the same suspension travel for all sizes and a virtually identical behaviour of the transmission ratio. Riders of the smallest frame geometries can therefore enjoy the same suspension travel and the same suspension action as a biker on the largest frame height. These pivot arms are forged from high-tensile aluminium alloy in order to provide perfect ergonomics with an optimum weight/rigidity and stability ratio.

Kleinere Unfälle oder Stürze verursachen weder Risse noch Dellen, da Titan diese durch seine strukturell bedingte Nachgiebigkeit kompensiert. Für unsere Titanrahmen verwenden wir Titanlegierungen, wie sie auch im Flugzeugbau zum Einsatz kommen.

Die innenverlegten Züge sorgen für eine sehr gute Schaltfunktion und senken die Wartungsintervalle. Gepäckträger und Schutzblech werden an zwei unterschiedlichen Montagepunkten befestigt und verhindern somit mögliches Klappern oder gar ausreißende Gewinde. Die Konstruktion erlaubt auch die einfache Montage von Kindersitzen. Für den sicheren Stand auch bei hoher Zuladung sorgen stabile Hinterbauständer. Wir entwickeln unsere Tourenserie auf höchstem Niveau, um den vielseitigen Ansprüchen aus des Alltrags gerecht zu werden.

Wir von CUBE entwickeln und produzieren Premium-Fahrräder. Dabei legen wir größten Wert auf Sicherheit und Qualität unserer Produkte. Wir bieten daher eine Qualität, die über die Einhaltung der europäischen Normenanforderung hinausgeht und zusätzliche Leistungsprofile für den jeweiligen, speziellen Verwendungszweck berücksichtigt. Schon bei der Auswahl der Produkte wird auf den europäischen Standard für Fahrradteile, der sog. CEN – Norm geachtet. D.h., nur Produkte mit entsprechendem Certifikat kommen in die engere Auswahl für unsere Fahrräder. Zusätzlich haben wir unsere eigenen InhouseTests mit eigenen Testverfahren und Testmethoden entwickelt. Diese basieren auf den Standards der Europäischen Normen für Fahrräder (z.B. EN14766 für Mountainbikes, EN14781 für Rennräder etc.) sowie auf dem freiwilligen, darüberhinaus gehenden Standard DIN plus. Eigens für diese Testreihen entwickelte Prüfstande ermöglichen uns, in realen, praxisnahen Simulationen, Rahmen, Gabeln, Bremsen und Lenker-/Vorbaukombinationen auf die tatsächlich einwirkenden Betriebslasten hin zu überprüfen und zwar genau so wie sie in verschiedenen Situationen im Fahrgebrauch zu erwarten sind.
We at CUBE develop and produce premium quality bikes. In the process we place great value on the safety and quality of our products. We therefore offer a quality which exceeds European standards requirements and includes additional performance profiles for the particular special designated use. Even during selection of products European minimum standards for bicycle components, the so-called CEN standard is observed, i.e. only products with the appropriate certificate are considered in the shortlist selection for our bicycles. In addition we have developed our own in-house tests using our own test procedures and testing methods. These are based on the standards contained in the European norms for bicycles (e.g. EN14766 for mountain bikes, EN14781 for racing bikes etc.) plus the voluntary DIN Plus standard which goes beyond these. Test rigs specially developed for these series of tests enable us to test in real practical simulations frames, forks, brakes and handlebar/ front extension combinations to examine how they are to be expected to behave in various situations when riding.
