Poverty rates in Buffalo remain high. Nearly half of our children in our city of Good Neighbors live in poverty. But there is good news in our community. There is a Pathway of Hope.
Studies show that children who spend half or more of their childhood in poverty are 32 times more likely to remain in poverty.
Pathway of Hope The Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope program is designed to be a life-changing transformative experience for motivated parents in generational poverty who are ready to take action to break their cycle of crisis and vulnerability.
The dedicated Pathway of Hope case manager works closely with enrolled parents to overcome challenges and strive toward financial stability and a higher quality of life. Un/underemployment, homelessness/unstable housing, access to transportation, childcare, and other barriers are addressed proactively and responsively, in this holistic, relationship-based, intensive, and longer-term case management model. Crisis is an opportunity for growth. As parents progress on the Pathway of Hope con7nuum they become equipped with the tools to change the trajectory of their lives, and consequently the lives of their children.
