English with an Indigenous perspective 10 or 30 ECTS The course has two main quantifiable goals: • To familiarize students with writing by indigenous languages, both traditional and modern. • To assist students to improve their knowledge of written and oral English. Goals of the course The overriding personal and subjective goal of the course is to cause the students to reflect on their own sense of identity and to help them consolidate their opinions and feelings by broadening their understanding of the struggles and experiences of other indigenous people. • Recognise the major conventions of English grammar. • Write sentences clearly and directly. • Articulate in English what it means to be indigenous.
