2022! We made it! When I think back on my travels of the past year, driving throughout Idaho is always one of my fondest memories. Looking back on the creation of this magazine, I’m forever grateful to be able to see all the joyous celebrations from the past year while creating new inspiration with local vendors throughout the state to inspire you all in your planning process. Whether you are at the beginning stages of your wedding planning or at the very end, I hope the upcoming pages excite you for your big day! Kiana and Jake met in the summer of 2015 through mutual friends. While the pair had eyes for one another, it wasn’t until a repeat of serendipitous encounters that would take their love interest to the next level. Fast forward three years, Kiana and Jake traveled to Grand Teton National Park for a week full of camping, hiking and kayaking with a group of friends. Little did they know, Jake planned to propose during the trip. “A few weeks prior, I wrote a love song on my guitar that I would sing to Kiana and right after, ask her to spend the rest of her life with me,” Jake says. That Saturday evening, as the group sat around the campfire, Jake picked up his acoustic guitar and began to play. Before everyone knew it the song ended and Jake was on one knee asking Kiana to marry him!

JULIE + KHALED s ta n l e y Julie and Khaled met by chance while visiting the Lone Star State in 2020 and a spark instantly ignited. When both of their jobs were temporarily shut down due to the pandemic, Julie and Khaled decided to take this opportunity and hit the road in Khaled’s camper to explore Sedona, Arizona. The original trip was interrupted after being called back to work, but months later the couple returned for a new adventure. With stunning views of red rock vistas and desert plants, Khaled popped the question at Devil’s Bridge, the largest natural sandstone arch in Sedona.

BRIDGETTE + FORREST coeur d’alene When it comes to Bridgette and Forrest’s love story, the universe had a plan for them long before they even met. The pair crossed paths sooner than they originally thought. During the summer of 2017, Bridgette and Forrest attended the same event with a large group of mutual friends. Although neither spoke to the other, Bridgette captured a video that evening showing Forrest’s back turned towards her only steps away. Fast forward to July 4th, 2018, in Lake Oswego, Oregon where the duo formally met in a more intimate setting. After a day on the water, the two found themselves running off to watch fireworks from the top of a boathouse. From that day forward, Bridgette and Forrest were inseparable. Ten months later, the couple moved to Forrest’s hometown of Coeur d’Alene in Northern Idaho. Almost three years into their relationship, Forrest got down on one knee and proposed to Bridgette with an engagement ring the couple designed together.

DAIANE + MAX boise

Daiane and Max met while studying at Washington State University where Daiane was part of an exchange program from Brazil. On the first day of class, Max sat in front of Daiane. It just so happened when Max overheard a fellow student introduce herself to Daiane, Max caught Daiane’s accent. Max turned around to find a beautiful girl with an amazing smile. The pair were brought together through study groups and engineering classes where they learned more about each other. At the start of Junior year, Daiane and Max made things official, but with a catch. Max would have to meet Daiane’s parents for the first time over video chat. Other than a language barrier and nerves, the call was perfect. Three years later, Daiane and Max were distanced with Daiane finishing school in Brazil and Max starting his new career. During a trip to Washington State from Brazil, Daiane was convinced to visit the couple’s school campus to reminisce about their memories there. Little did Daiane know, Max had a nostalgic plan to go back to the classroom they met and sit in the same seats where it all began. As the scenario unfolded, Daiane’s family secretly watched through a cell phone video call. Max asked to reenact how they first met, only for him to turn around and get down on one knee with a ring in hand.

Brooklynn and Hunter first met on a blind date initiated by mutual friends. Instead of having the same awkward cookie-cutter experience over dinner, the pair made crêpes. And, the rest is history! One year later, Hunter surprised Brooklynn with a handwritten note set on the kitchen table to get ready, meet him at a disclosed location, and lastly to say “Yes.” Brooklynn arrived at a darling gazebo fully decorated with lights and roses where Hunter proposed. The newly engaged couple celebrated by ordering their favorite sushi and dessert to-go and found an idyllic lookout for a romantic car picnic.

Katelyn and Tanner met while living in Utah. Tanner was working at a ski resort for the winter season and Katelyn had recently completed cosmetology school. A fateful haircut brought the two of them together. Katelyn’s very first client was Tanner and as fate would have it, the pair quickly hit it off and began dating shortly after. With a romantic proposal location in mind, Tanner popped the question on Diamond Peak in the Lemhi Mountain Range. The couple began their trek up the 12,197 foot mountain at 4:30 in the morning. After an intense day of climbing, Katelyn and Tanner stood atop the astonishing summit where Tanner got down on one knee. “We got to the end, and Tanner told me that the mountain we had been hiking was Diamond Peak, so he thought it was the perfect place to ask me to spend forever with him,” recalls Katelyn.

Attending parties is a fundamental part of the undergraduate college experience, and that’s exactly where Meg and Jake’s love story began. When Jake approached Meg and asked her name, Meg promptly answered then turned around and walked away. Jake didn’t let his initial attempt deter him from striking up a conversation so, he gave it another shot or five. After a year of dating, Meg and Jake said, “I do” on September 12th. To remember this special time as newlyweds, Meg and Jake donned their wedding attire for a bridal portrait session that is nothing short of radiant with golden sun flares and an idyllic Idaho backdrop. White fir ceilings, rough larch beams, a copper disc in the middle to reflect light throughout the circular room, and globe lights make quite the impression. Naturally, Aperol Spritz is the bride’s signature cocktail with its vibrant orange hue to fit right in with the color palette.

What started as a professional relationship for Tawnie and Tyler quickly turned into a romantic one. While the pair first met at work, it wasn’t until their annual office Christmas party that Tawnie and Tyler took it upon themselves to approach each other. The rest is history! Two and a half years later, the couple planned a trip to San Diego, California for Labor Day weekend. Tyler popped the question at Sunset Cliffs, overlooking the ocean as the sun drifted beyond the horizon. Tawnie and Tyler planned a black-and-white wedding with romantic details for June 19th.

Alex + Preston S TA N L E Y

Alex and Preston met five and a half years ago while they were living in Neptune Beach, Florida. During their first date, they quickly realized they both had an appetite for spicy margaritas, guacamole and adventure! With a healthy love of competition and being outside, their relationship grew over tennis matches, soccer games, bike rides, beach runs, backpacking trips and fishing excursions. Their careers pulled them to two different states six months after they met. Alex moved to Boston, Massachusetts and Preston moved to New York City, New York. Although they loved the city life, they were tired of the long distance between them and missed being outside. In 2018, Preston and Alex took the leap to Idaho and haven’t looked back. Four and half years later, the couple kicked off Alex’s birthday weekend with a 13 mile hike at Lucky Peak Trail in Boise. As they reached the summit and found a spot to sit, Preston laid out a full picnic spread. He then presented an engagement ring and popped the question! Alex and Preston planned a modern, mountain wedding for June 26th.

TIME STOOD STILL “Walking down the aisle, with the view of Preston at the end, surrounded by our family and closest friends, is a moment I will never forget. Time seemed to simultaneously stand still and speed up,” says the bride. The couple’s ceremony took place at Pioneer Park with breathtaking views of the Sawtooth Mountain Range that looms over the small town of Stanley. There, guests sat on rustic wooden benches which included a touch of luxe; white faux fur was gently draped over each bench for a cozy, intimate feel.

Joanna and Jake met while they were both living in Reno, Nevada. New to the area, Joanna connected with Jake in hopes of making new friends to go hiking with. Jake soon realized this wasn’t an ordinary friendship, but in fact he had met the love of his life. The pair dined at a waterfront restaurant on the shores of Lake Tahoe for their first date. The following day they coincidentally ran into each other at an event of over 10,000 people, and Jake asked Joanna if she would go skydiving with him. A day later, the duo jumped out of an airplane and have been inseparable ever since. Fast forward three years, Jake staged a fake hospitality photoshoot at a luxe haven set along the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Tahoe’s glassy blue waters and iconic Sierra Range. With the help of the couple’s professional photographer friend, Nick Sorrentino, Jake and Joanna acted as models. After a full day of photos and styled rooms to catch Joanna off guard, Jake got down on one knee along the alpine lake shoreline just as the sun was setting. Joanna and Jake planned an outdoor boho wedding for August 15th.

LAKESIDE VOWS

The couple’s ceremony took place overlooking Hayden Lake, with a double-triangle arch showcasing pale pink and ivory florals at the end of the aisle. Joanna and Jake personalized the ceremony by writing their own vows and having loved ones participate in the service. The groom’s mother read a poem and their close friend even performed a song. “Our favorite moment of the wedding was exchanging vows. We wrote our own vows and the words that were exchanged were so special to us,” Joanna reminisces.

Alana + William SANDPOINT

While Alana and William met in high school through a mutual friend, it would take patience before their friendship would progress to the next level. When William initially reached out to Alana, she didn’t give him the time of day, but that all changed as they got to know each other better. After a first date at Dunkin Donuts, the two instantly hit it off and a relationship followed suit. Fast forward eight years and a move from Florida to New York and California, the couple has embarked on endless adventures together. To propose, William turned to Alana’s family’s German Christmas pickle tradition. If you aren’t familiar with the “Old World Christmas Pickle,” it’s simply a glass pickle ornament that is hidden within the branches of a Christmas tree. Then, the first family member to find the pickle on Christmas morning is rewarded with a special gift. That year, William hid an exceptionally special treat and once Alana found it, William was on one knee! Alana and William planned a neutral, minimalistic wedding for September 2nd.

Alana and William said “I do” on the summit of Schweitzer Mountain located in the rugged Selkirk Mountain Range with thirty of their closest friends and family in attendance. “My family owns a house on Schweitzer Mountain and Will and I both just love the landscape and natural wonder. On top of having a personal connection with the mountain and its beauty we couldn’t think of anywhere else we would want to celebrate our special day,” the bride says.

Max Henson + S TA N L E Y Max and Henson crossed paths while working in Elko, Nevada. Max, a Branch Manager for a commercial cleaning company, was overseeing the cleaning of a local casino when Henson, a Biologist, was in the area surveying greater sage-grouse. The pair met for the first time over lunch. Lunch quickly turned into dinner, and they decided to do it all over again for the rest of the week. It soon became obvious that the two had something special with each other and committed to a long-distance relationship. After a year of dating, the shift to remote work allowed Henson to relocate from Sacramento, California to Boise where Max resided. A few months later, Max planned a three day, 32-mile backpacking trip into the Frank Church Wilderness Area. Max’s sister joined the journey, hiking a great distance with bottles of champagne and an engagement ring on top of the already heavy gear. After a 14-mile stretch on the first day and a refreshing alpine mountain lake swim, the group sat watching the sunset in the most pristine and serene atmosphere imaginable. Max’s sister anchored a glass bottle with a message in it at the water’s edge, Henson noticed the bobbing bottle. A little put off, Henson pressured Max into fetching the bottle himself. As Max unrolled the message, only then did Henson begin to realize what was happening. After Henson read the message Max got down on one knee and asked Henson to marry him. The newly engaged couple popped champagne and celebrated around a campfire as the sun slowly disappeared. Max and Henson planned a formal Rocky Mountain wedding for September 25th.

For the wedding processional, the couple walked down the aisle together with their dogs as a family. Though non-traditional, Max and Henson reminisce how this proved to be such a powerful moment showing love, unity, and capturing the guests. Max and Henson exchanged vows in front of a breathtaking mountain backdrop situated on private land. Native flowers and shrubs were used for floral arrangements paired with pieces of art created by local artist, Jennie Kilcup, adding to the cohesive nature-themed decor. The color palette for the day consisted of rich earth tones, olive green and hues of gray.

Lauren never imagined she would meet her husband through Instagram, but when Danny was renovating his home in St. Louis, Missouri, he followed Lauren’s account featuring her work in interior design for inspiration. After a direct message and friendly conversations, Danny visited Lauren in Boise some five months later. Fast forward, the couple arranged a trip to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to celebrate their birthdays, that are only one day apart. During this quaint getaway, they fell in love with the charming coastal town and each other. A year later, Lauren and Danny returned to the panhandle of Florida. In the middle of the quiet cobblestone streets just steps away from beautiful white sand and crystal blue water of the Emerald Coast, Danny got down on one knee and proposed to Lauren. Lauren and Danny planned a romantic European wedding with modern details for October 23rd.
