In different Centers of the South Zone the last March 2 of this year the Social Balanced lived, the recognition to UNAD's Talent and the Possession of the Rector Dr. Jaime Alberto Leal Afanador for the period 2011-2015, with the participation of representatives of governmental and nongovernmental organizations, students, graduates, staff and the productive sector, all gathered to attend three important events: First, the Social Balance 2010 leaves satisfactory results in terms of coverage, academia, research, regional development and community outreach , attention to vulnerable population, technological advances, quality and internationalization recertification to reflect the reason for our university . The UNAD, created by and for the Colombian, develops through the Continuing Education System opportunities for people looking for their academic, professional and intellectual growth; therefore, the second act "Successful Experiences" space created for people like Jose Luis Montaño, who received the UNAD's Talent Recognition as an example of life, who went to be from a cane cutter to become an Unadista qualified professional.
Like him, today thousands of Colombians are generating development in many regions of the country, it is the case of the graduate of CEAD Ibague, Miguel Angel Prado Parra, Systems Engineer, Manager and shareholder of his own company "SYSCAFE", who accompanied us in the event and shared a slogan for their expertise: "A graduation project, a life project."

The last act, the Possession of Rector Dr. Jaime Alberto Leal Afanador, for the period 2011-2015, inspirational leader of the educational project with a broad résumé, his knowledge, experience and social – communitarian sense has given life, soul and heart to a dream: to leave our future generations a new country, with high values, social equity and quality of life, no easy task but at this moment thanks to his management and commitment, has established with the support of a team that each day grows and multiplies throughout the country, which means that the UNAD continues with more strength for this new period with strategic alliances that contribute to the recovery of the social tissue.

From the Psychosocial Care Center CAP of UNAD, CEAD Ibague, is providing advice to the mayor of Ibague and the National Police in psychosocial care to the residents of San José neighborhood, through the project REBUILDING SOCIAL TISSUE FOR A BETTER FUTURE . This advice is in its early stage, within which an intervention was participatory and designed a proposal to work with the community. Pág. 18

I was born on a farm in Villarrica in Tolima Department on 21 September 1968. I was the son of Miguel Prado and Georgina Parra. My mother became a widow with 8 children but she and my father established common-law marriage. They give birth to their only child, who was registered under the name Miguel Angel Prado Parra. Due to life circumstances, I was separated from my mother and I just lived with my father. Loneliness, lack of maternal love and the rejection of my school partners made some attempts to write poems were born during my undergraduate studies such as "The thoughtful child," "For You", "Slave" and "For you good mother! Southern Zone Director - UNAD Node Ibague Starting this new year and with it the projects, dreams, hopes, opportunities, personal, family and work challenges for the editorial team "Joining Distances" .The commitment is to our readers, community and the world in each issue to find the impact of a project Community social education in the three departments that are part of the South: Tolima, Huila and Caquetá, with 6716 students, 200 academic staff, 10 administrative staff and 60 directors, who are going to continue working for the reconstruction of social as a substantive responsibility "social inclusion" in 2011. At UNAD, as a university entity, thousands of Colombians are educated every day in different disciplines and from different levels of training. But also, life projects have been generated, seeking to improve the quality of life in our communities.
With a positive Social Balance 2010, last March 2, the UNAD Rector Dr. Jaime Alberto Leal Afanador, who took office after being re-elected by the Honorable Superior board on November 26, 2010 for the period 2011-2015, gave significant statistics in the country with an average total of 50,440 students, 22,145 enrolled in Florida UNAD - living abroad; 8,071 students in elementary and high school, 376 students with special learning needs, 6,978 students belonging to 59 different ethnic groups and a total of 7,117 tutors, teachers and counselors, which reinforces and legitimizes the mission of the University Education for All. "

with 6 spotlights: Inclusion, Education, Innovation, Research, Regional Development and Social Community Outreach and Internationalization, we will continue on the path proposed in our vision: "To be leaders in Open and Distance education, recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative quality, relevance of their offerings and educational services, for its commitment and contributions of its academic community to the sustainable human development, the local and global communities. " With the social balance 2010 and Development Plan 2011-1015, the team in the country and in the South Zone welcomes readers. We are thinking about improving for you every day. Consequently, this year new sections will be found: Guest Column, Counseling, Quality and the graduate Mural which will make part of the content in each edition. Additionally, the new launch of the "Virtual Journal” will be carried out soon. As part of the Celebration of Social Communicator, our intention is to make visible this UNAD production to external entities and link departmental and local government in our page. We want to generate a cooperative and determined work from the different conventions for the good of the community. Chronicle: The Tsunami reaches the UNAD, a Colombian experience in Hawaii By: Diana Patricia Alcalå PÊrez ECBTI Student - CEAD Ibague 9:25 pm: We were at the last toast, celebrating the civil union of our friend from Brazil, Ronan, surrounded by the bride's family and colleagues who are developing the same exchange program, we have shared a pleasant evening; however text messages disturbing with the first news of an earthquake in Japan, they turned our attention to the TV where it is recommended to start evacuation work. Within 10 minutes we were back, only faces of concern and silence prevailing in the environment, we decided not to call our home not to worry, since probably at that time (2:30 am - Colombia) people would not know anything about it. 60 minutes that looks eternal separate us from our home and workplace (Camp Erdman-YMCA, located on the North Shore of Oahu Island), which is one of the highest risk places of tsunami. On the way I try to communicate with my friend Kate, another Colombian who is in the camp, I need her to take my passport and important documents, but she does not answer and the tension grows up, however I am not nervous as I thought I would be, I just thought about Japan and how lucky we are. As we move forward we see long lines at gas stations and cars traveling in the opposite direction towards the center of the island, the impact is forecast on Hawaii at 3:30 am, we still have 6 hours. 10:20 pm: Arriving at "home", the fears that only become apparent in the simulations are undeniable, the sirens have been activated, the sound makes the atmosphere more tense and the danger seems imminent, however, Hawaiians are used to this kind of situation, so they do not panic, no running, no screaming as expected, but in my "home" it´s different, I do not live with Hawaiians, but with 24 brothers from different countries around the world who are not used, only two of them lived in the same situation with the earthquake in Chile and with the humor that characterizes the Colombians, we are in charge of calming the atmosphere. It is given the order to pack their belongings and set the start time: 11:00 pm. The first thing I put in my suitcase are valuables and gifts I bought for the family, seeing that there is space and time, I organize the rest of things, however, we can not leave Maria Camila. the cat who has been with us for 10 months; so we seek a cage and space in one of the cars to take it with us.

I decide to wait until 3:30 a.m. to know what happens, the first calls from friends start saying that the news is not encouraging, the force of nature was devastating. 12:45 am: I call on Colombia to say that we are well and safe, they already know the news and imagine that the worst may happen, but reports indicate that the waves are weakening and that the impact will not be so strong, we must wait... 3:30 a.m: Nothing happens ... we go to sleep 8:00 am: The Tsunami alert is lifted and returned to "home", when we arrived the unexpected has happened: the place where we used to make the fires disappear, we can see the damage done by a strong wave, bits of trees, soil and sand , also a gaping hole in the beach where almost certainly the wave came about 20 yards into the ocean, incredibly, coral washed ashore and moved about 5 meters i n l a n d , b u t n o r e g r e t s . An offbeat night ends and we go to rest waiting for Mother Nature decides to do the same.
11:00 pm: The caravan of 12 cars and two buses leaves to our partner, YMCA of Leeward, downtown the island where we will be staying for as long as necessary, the vehicles are supplied with food, water , pets and belongings of all, they should move in line together,

UNAD Libano Journalist´s Day Celebration By: Mireya Rocío Prado Coordinator - CERES Libano
The Open and Distance National University CERES Libano, held the Journalist´s Day, inferring a special tribute to all Journalists, Social Communicators and Commentators of the Municipality through the workshop "Assertive Communication of Effective Techniques" directed by psychologist Martha Leidy Arias Bravo, tutor of the ECSAH from Psychology Program. It is worth remembering that the Journalist´s Day was born in February 9 of 1791, with the appearance of the first newspaper in the Colombian capital, which was headed by the Cuban Manuel del Socorro Rodríguez de la Victoria. Some of the most important Colombian heroes like Antonio Nariño, Francisco Antonio Zea, Francisco José de Caldas, among others wrote for this medium about topics as diverse as: "daily and social life of the colonies, the rescue of literary values, military and civilian activity of metropolis and its possessions, the developments of science and knowledge”. The invitation to the event was extended to journalists of different media in Libano and was supported by some tutors, program directors and students of Social Communication Program, who participated actively and attentively. This workshop was just another expression of social commitment and academic relevance that the University tends to combine the inter-relationships with the various unions and social and community agencies in order to provide tools to qualify the professional performance

on several productive fronts of municipality and the region. This activity is in the preamble to a series of academic events that will strengthen the commitment to outreach and community presence immersed in our institutional mission. This is why, it has been defined as an official event to be strengthened and will continue to perform year after year, projecting in the near future, the involvement of journalists in neighboring towns such as Murillo, Casabianca and Villahermosa in the North Tolima, which are our area of influence of CERES.

Welcome everybody, special greeting students at the School of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Technology By: Augusto Castro Triana Industrial Engineering Leader - CEAD Ibague I do not try to write new terms depending on the advances in engineering, I do not also seek with new theories to structure the space that has been assigned to the School of Basic Sciences, Technology and Engineering - ECBTI, to seize this important segment through communication that we enjoy today, with extensive coverage in the Southern Zone and its virtual condition, with potential readers around the world. I try to extend a special greeting to the students of the UNAD, particularly those who belong to ECBTI through a topic on which they have written millions of lines in multiple languages ??and in very different times in our history, ENGINEERING. Specifically I try to write some ideas on the aspects of this exciting discipline that is offered at UNAD, as part of its extensive academic offerings. Industrial Engineering, for example, from conception until relatively recent times, sought to maximize the resources of organizations, often to the detriment of those who through their talent, are the architects of the productive activities of any company, furthermore itis the creative factor that defines them and their future prospective. Today the Human Talent, is recognized as the backbone of organizations, which product design industrial engineering programs
aimed at promoting with issues relating to Occupational Health, Ergonomics, Organizational Psychology and Management facing the cycles of Personal Consumption, among others. Similarly, in the last century theories announced intensive manufacturing products as a solution to possible breakthroughs in production processes. However, nowadays the most specific trend is to produce an almost individual way each request or application by oriental models Design,
Planning and Production Management, together with variants successfully applied in our Latin environment, since the elimination of storage costs represent thousands or millions of units within the budgets of any business. What about the Quality Control, before designed as another rank of work within the organizational infrastructure, which at the end of a production process had the luxury to
reject an article because it was "defective " and today the Quality Control performed along the production process, preventing the accumulation of costs in an article that ultimately did not meet specifications, but will generate reprogramming and additional amounts in activities not foreseen or budgeted.

With these elements, plus others that are not mentioned, it is easy to deduce that the Industrial Engineering is an engine behind all event production, looking for reducing costs, for reaching all kinds of items in the pocket of the consumer public, and secondly maximizes profits for the benefit of investors and entrepreneurs who seek added value through the accumulation of wealth. In this sense, what can it be said about Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Audio Technology? The evolution experienced in its short existence, is significant: It has revolutionized positively thousands or millions of times the schemes known by the mankind; it has moved from the local, particular and individual to universal scenarios with ingredients that today should not be omitted in the business (for minor they are minor in terms of its size, its markets or investments).

innovations, their contribution to mass production and preservation of food is known, likewise their contributions so that they contain the right proportions in the population's nutrition at lowest possible cost, the Quality Management and Competitiveness are non-negotiable parameters in these disciplines and their potential for growth and development have yet to explore, with new and multiple contributions to the benefit of humanity. So you can talk about the Regency of Pharmacy Technology, described using the drug field, the training of highly qualified professionals to meet these goals. Finally, I express my greeting and embrace of welcoming to new and old students of ECBTI-UNAD, with the only purpose of recognizing their talent for engineering in all its manifestations and invite them to not falter in this regard and continue their life projects through the study.

I have repeatedly stressed the importance of mastering a second language and have been emphatic in saying that being bilingual opens new possibilities for both personal and professional development, taking into account that today is not a luxury but it is a necessity because the best job opportunities for applicants require the mastery of a second language. Similarly I have explained why this language should be English, bearing in mind that in many areas and fields of knowledge, mastery of English is essential to know the latest developments in specific disciplines. I said that the Colombian government has seen the same needs as many other governments, which has defined educational policies designed to promote a bilingual culture, changing somewhat the manner in which it was conceived the language education; has been made urgent efforts to integrate the teaching of a second language in the early stages of learning, encouraging children to include a second language as something natural in their training and not going above that was new, in a manner to speak. Although for many decades physical and theoretical training has been more recognized, today it is necessary to strengthen values ??education in all spheres of education, from basic to postgraduates studies.

Mental health: A priority for research in Colombia By: Susan Paola MartĂnez Rojas ECBTI Tutor - CEAD Ibague
The global epidemic of the 21st century is the mental illness and Colombia is no stranger to this wave of latent and understated pathology that every day more affects the health of the population, and that receives little attention in diagnosis and treatment. The National Mental health study in 2003, estimated that one-third of the population had ever in life, at least a mental disorder, being the most frequent anxiety and depression. Mental disturbances are a current problem of public health in a country that offers daily subscription in this area given the deterioration of the social and economic conditions, the violence, the high rate of unemployment, and a low level of satisfaction of basic needs; the Colombian people are then a perfect psychic toy to develop any kind of studies on the effect of mental illness, understanding it from its slightest expression: stress, sleep disorders, fatigue, loss of interest, lack of concentration, irritability, among others, so frequent symptoms which people have learned to assume as part of everyday life and which constitute a potential danger to health in general. Exposed the scene, how could the country deal with the challenge of the burden of mental illness if the current health system is itself depressing? one in ten people with these symptoms receive specific attention, due partly to a misperception of the handling of this type of disorders and to a wrong orientation of the health services that are centralized in the psychiatric crises; the result is a society which is source of lower-class and middle class individuals who are less productive because of a disability that affects their personal, laboral , familiar, individual and collective performance. The first step in addressing this situation is

a diagnosis of its magnitude, with a complete analysis that updates and generates regional information on the subject. This work must emerge from the Academy as the best space for research processes underpinning any action on a social problem. Lines of research should include the assessment of the weight on mental illness, with a multifactorial approach that related biological aspects and psychosocial risk factors. Psychology allows you to reach out to people and modify their environment, to be a useful tool for implementing the strategy of a real and comprehensive way concern, research, decision, action, involving suggest solutions from a problem detected and studied; it is for that that the social psychologist as a social researcher is required with a perspective based on facts and not only data, which will allow a broader awareness of mental illness in our country. The invitation is for those interested in developing research to lead efforts in the field of mental health which has been little explored at the regional level, to use the tools provided by educational institutions
in the knowledge and doing of the research, to keep up with the needs of the community to innovate in research of social outreach, and to form from the most early academic training a proactive attitude that motivates the sharing of ideas that is the initial path for the development of projects, impact and quality. Finally, I make reference to the studies that have reported high levels of stress and mental disorders in students and trainers, ironic conclusion that we are "crazy investigating mad", with the security of knowing where lies the difference: I am aware of this and want to do something about, I hope that you do too.

A friend was told by me about my research topic, this would be an exciting topic because very little we say or know about how species get communication, by talking about non-human; and it is true. By analyzing Professor Juan Domingo Ramirez´ paragraph who said that "In general terms, communication is understood as a process between a sender and a receiver, which the maximum value, or maximum response for a message-receiver is the receiver´s ability to respond and provide feedback " it is a limited rather conception about reality, because it is not enough to understand how we get communication among species. According communication we understand, that it is generated by dialogue and communication relationship between human beings. But we can ask ourselves: Is there not a dialogue or a interrelation with a different specie than ours? If there is not, communication process wouldn´t be called what do the other species? Perhaps this confuses us, but taking into account the view that it is impossible to conceive of communication as a simple data t r a n s f e r, w e c o u l d s a y t h a t communication is also a fundamental and important process for the existence and organization of any society, why? Well, because any joined action performed by human beings is based on shared meanings and which are transmitted throughout the whole communication process; this argument is very clear in the syllabus that we are studying. All beings and species have the ability to communicate with each other, what happens is human beings have been losing that ability as we have been losing the connection with other living beings. While we are children we are able to have this kind of communication but we begin to forget it because oral communication is above sensory l a n g u a g e i n t h i s s o c i e t y, a n d furthermore because our concept is that, animals are inferior beings.

This is one of the advantages we have living beings, because all these communication processes we have some species with others, we help ourselves surviving and conservation, besides reconnecting species as a key part in communicating and expands the consciousness field whit other living beings. Species communication capacity helps to understand the changes or problems about their behavior; it helps animals to understand changes in their environment in processes such as family member death. It seems incredible that the animals which are considered inferior beings can communicate each other and in fact they do it for certain reasons, from which the most important are: food searching, protection and reproduction, for it, they use tools such as the body movement, color changes, secreting liquids, curly hair, and so forth.

If we notice the communication among species in the animal kingdom it is the most exciting, they lack a successive courtship words, they do not speak, this makes their language be purer with a ritualism touch, which personally is something the humans beings must rescue, or unfortunately we do not already possess, human being has reached a stage in which it has lost its essence, of being "a human being." Personally I let to consider whom reads this document, which referred to this research article from which I took some contributions, because it clarifies how the animals are, supposed inferior species, which give us coexistence examples, surviving, power, skills and other social advantages among species, we can see how animals use language to lead a group, to avoid the danger, to find food, in short, they use their communication systems for a common purpose, while I could mean whit autonomy that the human species has used a language to offend and to misunderstand the words, by creating uncomforted in the same species and in the others. For closing I let to your consideration the following thought of a species that has coexisted for centuries with us, which shows their perception toward the attitudes of ourselves like superior beings in front of them. To start I want to reflect on: what causes us satisfaction and passion? Why do we work? For what reason do we work? Which are our principal challenges and opportunities? Why must we participate in research? What does Open and Distance University (UNAD) means for us? How can we contribute to Unadist research community? What benefits could we receive as researchers? Why must we participate in groups and research seedbeds? During the last years South Zone has developed an investigative work which is very interesting and admirable; we have worried about thinking: "by and for the communities "; and this social projection understood as the extension process enshrined in the institutional vision and mission to be CHANGE MANAGING LEADERS to create a new Colombia which has allowed us to have a pertinent area to a scientific labor that allows the UNAD positioning as a university that thinks about the future of its people from the Knowledge Building, leadership; values and principles, UNAD ideas forces; but it is only the beginning... Our change intention is constant, to be better, to be trained and understand that if we want to give it is necessary to receive, we do a critical reflection daily; a stop along the way that has allowed us to think differently; thinking academically about the research application in our daily activities, how do we improve?, how do we generate more productive and meeting areas? And how do we

innovate even daring to fail?; this has allowed us to handle new ways of doing things, because in a global world as it is today, while some of us stay up all night in our activities, others do not even sleep in a competitive and dynamic level.
Research Network, which is composed by the research home leaders in every center of our dear Zone. We look this network to be shaped by all home researchers, because it's better everything together!
In other words, we have prioritized more autarkic solutions, more selfdepending and more self-managing orientated to the following challenge: what and how to research to be efficient and competitive with times increasingly scanty, inside a high intellectual quality, with a limited investment, with more copyright official guarantees, anyway, with more state and Institutional support. The feasibility and efficiency of these solutions "which cost little but yield much" they are shown in the detailed research production review that has been carried out from Zonal Coordination of UNAD Research System (SIUNAD) at the early 2011, through a measurement about the Schools production, presented, endorsed and non-endorsed projects by SIUNAD and Colciencias from 2008 to 2010; also at the zonal level review of our ten existing Research Groups, twenty-two research seedbeds and a researcher database among a total of 73 Teachers and Tutors, which allows us to know what we rely on in order to glide our vision.
Then an invitation from the Research Network, to work at the research project formulation from result ideas of complex reality in which we live; and more than think about problems, think about possible solution; "For Einstein a problem was an interesting situation", and it is what we try to find: To solve or to improve a problem, to attend an unsatisfied need, to bring an area from nowadays people which have a shattered life, a demolished dream, a wasted talent or a subdued passion; it is about to recover the spirit and effort of our communities and our people, motivating and accompanying them in the changing process, incorporating a discipline and a scientific rigor framed inside the commitment and the social responsibility to create a country from its people development, more education brings better life quality.

"Socio-economic benefits obtained by coffe growers organized in solidarity economy enterprises in Pitalito By: Adelaida Cuellar Bahamón ECACEN Tutor - CEAD Pitalito
Pitalito coffee growers have been overwhelmed by adverse circumstances that prevented them from seeing the possibility of improving the coffee, for this reason, some have opted for the association to deal with the problems that attack the coffee business. In the town there are 11,369 coffee farms, with an average of 8,712 farmers of which 734 make up 7 solidarity economy enterprises and 7,978 work individually, in the Committee of Coffee Growers, however, the process is not sufficiently documented to establish the benefits obtained. The governmental and nongovernmental organizations focus their efforts and support for coffee producers united and organized, it is necessary to determine whether these farmers have received economic benefits that could improve situations such as meeting basic needs, investment, etc. In the last five years Pitalito - Huila, has been characterized as a pioneer in the production and marketing of special coffees, thanks to the formation of several associative groups, made up of small farmers in the region, located especially in the districts of Bruselas and Criollo. The potential of Pitalito and competitive advantages due to its biophysical and optimum environmental conditions (climatic zones, agro-ecological conditions, microclimate), to its strategic location to connect with potential markets for agricultural culture in the lines defined,

an availability of human talent to the inclusion and participation in agricultural activity of entities of national and international order as USAID, Pro Macizo, and other activities that are important for developing a clean production. It should be noted that the municipality has no information to help determine the number of existing organizations and their dynamics economic. The academic background of most of the leaders of the organizations is part of the school and courses taken from SENA. They have acquired learning in accounting, business development, coffee production and processing, as well as training and they have received advices from other institutions. We can say that most of them do not know well about the issue of economic solidarity, just associate it with the community to seek work in a well common. According to the study, the growers interviewed by these organizations argue that the partners have achieved improvement in their income, represented mainly in obtaining subsidies for product quality offered by company's worldwide applicants, generating a value-added marketing Product. Likewise, the profits made by
governmental and nongovernmental entities have allowed them to invest in infrastructure for the production of coffee and meeting basic needs. The study showed that the coffee growers that are associated or create new organizations, have more opportunities of socioeconomic development being employed at associate form that in individually form, then, it is suggested that coffee growers should shape new solidarity economy enterprises or to integrate the already existing ones One of the advantages of partnership is that the majority of the organizations of commercializes the coffee buying companies in direct form , which means greater benefits and possibilities of improving infrastructure, as well as to purchase inputs at lower prices by taking advantage of economies of scale.

Aware of the latent needs mariquiteña community arising from the lack of activities to allow a proper use of leisure time in children and youth, the Ceres "José Celestino Mutis", led by its Director Dr. Olmer Quintero Osorio, devised a community intervention strategy in partnership with the Community Action Board of Nuevo Fernández Neighbor, involving the creation of a Children's Choir. The initiative is accompanied by the parents of the sector to closely follow the sessions involving 19 children, who previously had to carry voice quality testing and management of the breath, led by ninth-semester student at the Conservatory of Music Tolima, Tania Lucía López. Between February and March have been five meetings, with a satisfactory balance, since the level of acceptance and motivation of children has been very significant, the intention is that by June, the group can do its first public appearance.

Practicing the motivation and inclusión: an approach to life of disable people who survive on hope By: Marleny Angélica Morales Amézquita ECSAH Tutor - CERES Mariquita
Alvaro Humberto Ballesteros, affectionately known as Alvarito, is a young from Mariquita whose perseverance and strength has allowed him to achieve great things in his life, most notably, his next diploma as a UNAD Psychologist in the CERES Mariquita. He has always been known for being a good friend, a devoted student and one of the leaders of the disabled population of the town. Indeed, these characteristics led him to further special sessions backing other disabled people, affiliated to the Association of People with Physical Disabilities ASOPIMAT, in order for motivating and strengthening support networks for the fulfillment of their life projects to advance significantly. Although 15 leadership, self-esteem and productive projects workshops were developed, the support was

especially focused on three individuals whose particular life stories agree on something, "Hope to meet their work projects overcoming the limitations imposed by their physical condition", they are Noemí Pinillos, Dagoberto Rueda and Carolina Toro; their purposes, making their arts and crafts skills in productive activities that dignify their own and their families quality of life. Naomi works as an artisan, designs and woven sisal bags, in addition to elaborate lace and embroidery; Carolina likes to paint and Dagoberto is a poet. In the latter case, the Association has launched a public campaign to buy a laptop that allows him to work from his bed because his disability prevents mobilized wheelchair.

Foamy crafts and baking, for the last one; it has the necessary funding and it is only needed the support for the achievement of raw materials to undertake the production line of breads and pastries. The aim is that the population assigned to the Association carry out directly the production and in the event that the disabled can not be linked directly, some member of his family does so, contributing to the work inclusion and thus to the improvement of his quality of life, recognizing that although they have some physical limitations, are fully capable of working in fulfilling their life projects in a holistic manner.

The School of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities in this 2011 with the commitment to the psychosocial intervention in human development and social essence of the UNAD Community By: Victoria Eugenia HernĂĄndez Cruz Mirror Dean ECSAH
From the Psychosocial Care Center - CAP of UNAD, CEAD Ibague, is providing advice to the mayor of Ibague and the National Police in psychosocial care to the residents of San JosĂŠ neighborhood, through the project REBUILDING SOCIAL TISSUE FOR A BETTER FUTURE . This advice is in its early stage, within which an intervention was participatory and designed a proposal to work with the community. Psychosocial intervention has been done with infants, children, adolescents, adults and seniors. This process was escorted from the UNAD by the School of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, specifically from the Psychology Program with tutors, students and graduates. When we talk about the inhabitants of San Jose neighborhood, it fills us with joy recognized as the child population are children with values ??and demonstrate a high sense of gratitude, demonstrated this in a letter to the UNAD in which they wrote with their own words how they feel about what it is taking place in the neighborhood. These words, coming from the feel of them, fill us with great joy because all together we can potentiate

Scientific advances, climate changes and technological developments have marked the necessary changes through the history in the way of living, procreate, produce and conserve the humanity. Each period the man changed and he adapted it to the fundamental principle of conservation, from the first species that came from the sea through large mammals that inhabited the earth and the first men whom paleontologists called primate. The industrial revolution marked another stage through evolution process, the conditioning gives big jumps to achieve economic hegemony. The production power moves and mobilizes a huge amount of people in different areas, in all types of work and trades, looking for continuous improvement as a way to subsist in a world that required it to move forward. The primate's characteristics were special development of the vision, the hands; his agility to hold onto the trees and handling food. His brain also changed. They began to multiply and down from the trees to find more food and as a way of natural conservation it learned to use rustic tools that were used for hunting. Over time the primates began to dominate the land, they learned to cultivate and extract his fruits. The physical changes are a natural process of adaptation to the environment, always looking for the conservation or survival, these changes took many years to become Homosapiens, which today we know. The machines, to have machines for human service, has become into the obsessive forward progress, the first invented computers that achieve, in a few years, the change of people lifestyle, even more, his thinking style,

In constant evolution There come the discoveries, inventions, fire, metal, wheel, gears, gunpowder, and a long list that we should not remind at this moment. Each discovery conditioned somehow a new leap in evolution, the human brain kept on developing, imagination and indomitable desire of dominion over the earth, the conservation instinct and natural evolution history guide the human to find amazing science. A new generation of thinking machines (artificial intelligence) or humans with electronic components are being developed, the future needs this way of life to make human race keeps on surviving and evolving. As it consolidates the power of man over nature and new needs appear as a result of living in society, environmental degradation continues to increase, resulting significant that the thing that alienated man from animal life and allowed him to differentiate of other living things, through a long process of adaptation to the environment to ensure the existence, has become his Achilles heel, thanks to continued population growth, his increasing concentration in large urban centers and industrial development causing daily problems that have degenerated into what is now known as environmental pollution, a concept that locks behind one of the worst disasters of modern man, the generation of foreign substances of human origin in the enviroment, causing alterations in the structure and functioning of ecosystems through the deterioration of natural resources and the impact of some phenomena such as volcanic eruptions, dust storms, toxic leaks, among others. Pollutant is called all materials, substances or its combinations, derivatives or compounds of biological or chemical fumes, gases, dust, ash, bacteria, debris and waste, as well as forms of energy as heat, radioactivity and the noise , when in contact with air, water or soil, alter or modify its composition and natural conditions. Traditionally, the environment has been divided for study and interpretation, in three components: air, water and soil, but this division is purely theoretical, since most of the pollutants interact with more than one element of the environment. Therefore, as the power of man increases over nature and new needs appear as a result of living in society, the environment that surrounds increases its damage. It follows, then, paradoxical that the social behavior of man, which led him to communicate through language and through it reaching the formation of different cultures, it has also been the means by which led slowly the way to destruction of the own home.

It is not that there is an absolute incompatibility between technological development, the advancement of civilization and the maintenance of ecological balance, but it is important that men know harmonization. It is therefore necessary to protect the renewable and nonrenewable resources and to realize that environmental sanitation is essential for life on the planet, hence the need to develop strategic plans from the various sources of pollution (home, office, streets), to generate environmental education and to socialize with all our groups. In this sense, UNAD offers to the country the environmental engineering program, with the clear assumption that through training in this field, we can mitigate the environmental impact, as they will be new professionals, responsible for promoting the care and handling of waste in a professional way as required by national and international standards.

From the Neanderthals who developed their tools in stone and took care to choose the best materials to make them the most sharp, strongest toachieve success in hunting and in different work, passing by the Egyptians, the Romans and finally all modern civilizations, it seems as in human beingsit hasalways existed the concept of quality to the point that currently many standards and rules to control and maintain the various processesproducts and serviceshave been established. Today, with the impact of globalization on markets everybody has been forced to compete, not only with the companies and local institutions but with a world of options and customers who demand quality as the main and most important value-added products and services. For this reason, companies have been called to implement their own systems of quality management, structuring guidelines and measures for improvement that will allow them to potentiate the processes and procedures and thus guarantee the obtaining of products and services that undertake the needs of the client. In order to optimize this exercise, a series of norms and standards which are structured by international committees such as the ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) have been created. Some of the specifications are: ISO 9001: 2008: Foundation of a System of Quality Management Rule NTCGP-1000 Standard Technique of Quality in Public Management ISO 14001: Environmental Management System Standard. ISO 27001: 2005 Information Security Management System
7001: 2005 Information Security Management System This standard provides a framework of security management of information usable by any type of organization, public or private, large or small. It was published on October 15, 2005. It is the main rule of the 27000 series and contains the requirements of the information security management system. In its annex A, It summaries a lists of the objectives of monitoring and controls developed by the ISO 27002: 2005, so that they are selected by the organizations in the development of their ISMS; Although it is not compulsory the implementation of all the controls listed in that annex, the Organization must know how to argue the not applicability of non-implemented controls. This standard is published in Colombia as NTC-ISO-IEC 27001; Currently, this standard is in period of review in the Subcommittee ISO SC27, with date scheduled publication in 2012. The quality management system in the UNAD "For educational quality and social equity" By: Diana Carolina VerjĂĄn Ă vila Self-management and self-regulation Cluster Zonal Leader The National Open University and Distance UNAD in its Quality Management System implemented by resolution 2271 of November 21, 2008, was certified in ISO 9001-2008 and NTC GP1000: 2004. This standard that covers the coverage of design and development of training facilities in the different educational levels, community social outreach, research and technopedagogical management, under the open and distance learning as a fundamental axis of development of its mission, consistent with its substantive functions and committed to continuous improvement of its processes to benefit its students, alumni and society. The Quality Management System of the UNAD is based on the improvement cycle PDCA (Plan, Do, Check and Act) and is structured in four areas: In the formulation, ongoing socialization and internalization of its policy and quality objectives, in the strategic management processes, in the development of a monitoring and evaluation management policy and in the implementation of different including spaces allowing the university community to participate actively.

International Woman's Day: Celebration or commemoration? By: Pedro Uriel Rojas Gualteros Academic Leader Southern Zone
In Colombia, as in many other Latin American states, whose origin is brewing with a strong Judeo-Christian orientation, most of its festivals are devoted to characters or events featured throughout the history of Catholicism. Traditional days as Jesus' Passion, Nativity, the Ascension of Christ's, Virgin's Assumption, The Corpus Christi and different days dedicated to characters of saints are celebrated with devotion but also with passion. There are other days we celebrate and its origin is purely commercial, as the Secretary's Day, the Mother's Day (Justified in the Marian month) Saint Valentine's Day in North America, the Love and Friendship's day, and other days that consumer society has given free way and are dedicated to the profession, among others; but there are also days that have another origin and as they become more popular , they go sinking into the tangle of trade and religious ritual, these days from other sources are, Student's Day in Colombia, International Work's Day and International Women's day, who are contesting dates product of protest, but also oppression. In the case of International Women's Day, is the product of an entire rack of facts and events of early last century, which has continued in the demand for equality and equity compared with men. In the case of Colombia, just until 1957 was granted the right to vote, and only until this century through the Act. 823 of 2003 were established rules on equal opportunities for women; it was also determined as State agencies should create opportunities for women working on

equal terms with men. Although since the 1991 Constitution, these spaces became possible, we see that in fact discriminatory and unfair acts against women are held, proof of which are expressions of celebration and feast on a date initially invited to the celebration and exaltation of American heroin; we pass from the commemoration to the celebration, we camouflage the fact with mariachi and they ask and sing “rancheras'' to mere male, men give back to their women roses like a virgin, we highlight their tenderness, their delicacy, their beauty and other unquestionable qualities, and after t h a t d a y, w e c o n t i n u e discriminating and looking at women as sex or promotional objects. For CEAD IbaguĂŠ this date doesn't pass as unnoticed, with the special feature that our University is one of the few state institutions that remains within its employers the balance required by law, proportionally in Ibague, it is 52% Female 48% Men, we have
local and area management leaders, starting with our principal. We found in all of our partners, a wealth of intelligence, effort and commitment in everything they do. Surely our UNAD's women embodies the spirit of struggle and solidarity which proclaim our mission, which is why to our fellow who just link to this institution, we welcome and invite them to consider that the woman's day is a date to maintain that attitude of claiming in a heady way more rights and fewer flowers, more equitable and less discrimination, more equality and less uniformity. About the life of Suany: A little of the story of an Unadista talent By: Susana María Arias Manrique Student - CCAV NEIVA
All the programs that are made from the different areas of Universitarian welfare not only promote the comprehensive training and human development, they contribute actively to the strengthening of the quality of life of all members of the Unadista community, through the creation of spaces for the cultivation of talents. This is the case of the student Susana María Arias Manrique, to who we want to acknowledge, because of her talent and artistic skills that have allowed her to gain wide recognition. Suany, as it is known in the art world, wanted to share with us part of her life, her beginnings and some of her achievements. Susana María Arias Manrique was born in Neiva in July 22, 1985. Since her childhood she was passionate for rhythms and voices which were left as central legacy of her parents, Maria del Carmen Manrique and José Fraid Arias. They both are musicians of vocationand directors of the famous Huilense Musical Group “La Sonora Calamarí" during the 1980s. The musical career of the group finished, due to her father's alcohol and infidelity problems, however, the passion that Suany had for music was irrevocable. In addition, the birth of her two brothers, Julian Ernesto and Cristian Javier Arias became a great source of joy for her life and a distracting in those times of turbulence. When she was 7 years old, her parents got divorced. This episode of
her life affected her deeply. To pursue her dreams was one of the strongest motives that drove Suany to become a singer. She was the winner of the first Andean Music Contest which took place in the town of Tarqui, with famous Niyireth Alarcón as jury. In the child category, she participated in the first festival “Mono Núñez” in Neiva as special guest since there was not a children category, this path was a stop on her way to reflect about what she wanted to do with her musical talent, and she decided to become a great artist. In 1994 she composed her first song called "A day of anguish", inspired by what was unknown for her, a father and she could find in God the central source of inspiration. Since then for Suany music begins to emerge as a reason to live and the key to express what she feltin her heart, accompanied by his first guitar that would be enough to crystallize her inspiration. At the age of 16, she recorded his first two songs: "You're the love" and "Identity", productions which took part in "Cristalina Stars II", a project carried out by the Cristalina Stereo - Huilense Radio Station.

Then, she travels to Bogotá city in search of a new look and a new sound for her music, there she met music producer Alex Flores with whom she works her new production entitled "My Angel", which shows that someone is always by our side, people who look like Angels and beings that we do not see, but who care for us although it cost us to recognize it. My Angel makes the release with the song listen to me on Huila Radio Stations in March of 2011. We are confident that talent as Sandra's are common in our Unadista community, that's why we invite people to continue the strengthening of the Unadista Talents as well as to to support them in order to maintain active cultural agenda of the University Welfare.

Welcome back home By : Graduated Network Southern Zone
As it is stated in the bible story of the prodigal son, the good son returns home and this situation is similar to those who are privileged to live the experience of being a UNAD graduate student. Condition that many of us are not fully aware and that we will never be aside from our existence. The same situation does not let us to be fully aware of recognizing the characteristics of UNAD graduates. It is important to work together on the building of the UNAD graduates profile. In my opinion, some of the most important characteristics of UNAD graduate are: professional i n t e g r i t y, c o m m i t m e n t a n d responsibility, which are assumed to the social needs of our country, and high ethical and moral values. Until 2008, statistics indicated that Southern Zone had over 1990 graduates. At the end of 2010 the number of graduates of area was close to 2500 professionals in all areas of training, it is a deciding factor graduates in the university c o m m u n i t y. U n d e r t h i s circumstance, there is the Students Network which has defined a specific regulation according to the agreement 015 of October 30, 2007, emanating from the university Board of the National Open University and Distance UNAD and in its first chapter provides a definition of the Students Network of UNAD as the set of rules that harmonize and link the performance of graduates with the mission and vision of the institution, and it regulates the interaction of support and

Every moment of life at the university offers a space for interactions become educational events, where the cultural practice, recreation and health play an important role, since they are not only strengthen it but also contribute to improve the quality of life of a whole family, "UNAD family." For this reason, administrative, faculty, students and alumni of the Southern Zone are called to be protagonists in the integral development of the UNAD Community, since they are immersed in an environment that facilitates the promotion of human beings and brings them to forge links that support university life, where the BE, the BE and DO are essential to build an Integral Welfare. This means that we must all be aware of the need for a change of attitude in the area where University Welfare recovers its importance for the whole UNAD Community, since it is the cornerstone to dinamize the human growth in which the commitment, responsibility, creativity, sense of belonging and identity staged, are essential for the physical and psychosocial development of every member of UNAD.

The University UNAD from the national level by starting their academic periods uses an excellent and foresight contextualization strategy, UNAD´s student must ahead the way of through the autonomous learning paths; the CCAV-Neiva in the 2011-1 period implanted the staff creativity in order to socialize the proposed topics for the induction and this way to know our new and old students´ expectations. A king placed a large rock in the middle of the road, blocking the passage. Then he hid to see if anyone takes it outside. The kingdom's wealthiest merchants and courtiers who crossed that way just surrounded the rock. Many blamed the king for not having the roads clear, but none did anything to remove the obstacle. Then a farmer came along carrying a load of vegetables. He left it on the floor and tried to move the rock to one side of the road. After pushing and straining too much, he succeeded. While he was picking up his burden, he found a wallet on the floor, just where the rock had been. It contained many gold coins and a note from the king, indicating that this was the reward for the person who clear the road. The farmer learned what many others never understood. Reflection: Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve the own condition. If you ever fall down, get up and move on.

The new challenge of counseling at UNAD By: Juan Carlos Mojica JimĂŠnez Counselor - CEAD Ibague
A few years ago, the UNAD decided to implement the National Counseling System, inspired by ancient counselor who in different cultures attended pharaohs and other characters of the history in several fields. At UNAD, counselors were originally conceived as key players, not only in the accompaniment against the appropriation of methodologies by the student; but also as an essential part of the tutorial body, responsible for guiding the courses: Methodology of Academic Work and Unadista Educational Project. From the beginning of this academic year, and as part of the new strategies adopted by the rector for achieving greater student satisfaction, it was proposed the c r e a t i o n o f t h e n e w Vi c e Presidency of Attention to Students, which will take effect in coming months and whose purpose is to provide attention, consultancy and support of excellent quality to the entire student population enrolled at UNAD. That is why counselors do not make more tutorial support in order for them to devote 100% attention to students, which seeks to claim the student as the leading figure in

the academic process, and who the different actors of the University dumped their full potential service to recognize and appreciate in them the growth and rationale of the o r g a n i z a t i o n . Similarly, and as it has been doing since the previous academic year, some Skype attention spaces have been opened and forums from Monday to Saturday at different times for the students, either synchronously or asynchronously, get support, advice and search solution to their concerns that may arise in the academic process, and finally, the counselors continue to develop ongoing monitoring activities that will enable to know the progress of students in their learning process, especially those enrolled in the first academic periods All activities mentioned above, with others such as holding meetings for the appropriation of t h e m e t h o d o l o g y, t h e
accompanying processes of student induction and reinduction, the mastery of the virtual campus, the appropriation of techniques and strategies for autonomous learning and strengthening of skills for success in the presentation of final tests, makes counseling becomes a system that promotes student retention and belonging to this University, which is of all. By: Miguel Ángel Prado Parra UNAD 2003 graduated SysCafe S. A Manager I was born on a farm in Villarrica in Tolima Department on 21 September 1968. I was the son of Miguel Prado and Georgina Parra. My mother became a widow with 8 children but she and my father established common-law marriage. They give birth to their only child, who was registered under the name Miguel Angel Prado Parra. Due to life circumstances, I was separated from my mother and I just lived with my father. Loneliness, lack of maternal love and the rejection of my school partners made some attempts to write poems were born during my undergraduate studies such as "The thoughtful child," "For You", "Slave" and "For you good mother!, in one of its stanzas says: Oh good mother, humble and kind Mother of love and strength As the carnation that blossoms in the morning. Giving fragrance to all nature. This is the love that every mother gives Of pain and suffering strokes That is the feeling that draws me A mother who never met.
I arrived to Bogota thanks to the invitation of a school teacher from INEM high school. He wanted me narrating the poem of Armero on TV. A creation that was the result of this tragedy and the closeness I had with the displaced people who were located in school for a few months. Situation that occurred in a program called "Up the People", which had at its opening a cultural message. Because of this, someone saw me and contacted the program to get my data, we made a date in a restaurant and she began to make inquiries about me, after a few personal questions about my origin. Suddenly, she exclaimed with great euphoria ... you're my little brother that we lost." Indeed, this was one of my sisters, and then the great moment of my life: I met my mother at age 18. It was indescribable. In 1987, I began to study Systems Engineering with the help of one of my sisters at the Technological University of
Bogotá. I set up a hot dog business in the 22nd street and Caracas Avenue. I studied in the morning and I was in my business at night, I got “excellent profits ". When I came back to Ibague, I started a course in the American System Business School ABS, an informal educational institution. In 1990, I started to work as a systems instructor in the Tolima Business Training Center CENFET and in ABS. As a result of my training in the commercial education at INEM and my love for business, I started studying Public Accountant in 1991 at Coruniversitaria, which is called the University of Ibague today. Thanks to the savings of teaching and a business I had in the square, I paid my first semester which cost $ 91,000. At same time, I took a technology career at the University Antonio Nariño. In 1998, I graduated as an accountant and a Data Systematization Technologist. During this period, I used to study and work simultaneously. I work as a teacher in high school schools and non-formal education centers. In 1999, I started to work in different universities: first at Coruniveristaria, the University of San Martin, University of Tolima, UNAD, University Antonio Nariño and University Cooperativa. Thus, I started studying and teaching in developing companies in the region as a programmer, analyst, consultant and auditor in the development of information systems accounting. In 2001, the engineers José Omar Mayorga, Hernán Darío Trujillo and I created the company SysCafe Hernán had been one of my programming students in an institution where I had been teaching. I taught him the fist letters of programming. Today he can boasts saying: "The student overcomes the master” Concerned about my teaching work, I s t u d i e d a U n i v e r s i t y Te a c h i n g Specializationa at Santo Tomas University getting my degree in 2000. In 2003, I graduated as a Systems Engineer in
National Open and Distance University UNAD, receiving honorable mention as a distinguished student. My graduation project "Analysis, design and development of an audit and analysis of data software for management, financial and commercial information systems." Currently, I am a shareholder and manager of the company SysCafe S. A., whose objective is the implementation of enterprise information systems for companies in the commercial and official f u n d s s e c t o r, c o o p e r a t i v e s a n d educational institutions. Another objective is job training and human development with the Virtual Institute SysCafe. Our company generates 20 direct jobs and 15 indirect jobs. It donates products to universities and the headquarters of the SENA in the region as a tool for academic learning processes. Similarly, 1000 solutions have been approximately implemented in public and private c o m p a n i e s i n t h e c o u n t r y. . I want to share the phrase "a graduation project, a project of life". Today as a UNAD graduated, I can, with pride, highlight the result of experience in developing a dissertation which aims for implementing the University's institutional mission, in which "The research constituting part of is a continuous process of construction and application of knowledge.” Our graduation project was developed within the line of applied research, a fact which allowed us to deepen in the area of software engineering as a basis to give a local solution to a regional and national thought in contributing to social, scientific, economic and technology. It was possible to develop integrated business management software, applicable to private and public enterprises in commercial activities and production services: “The graduation project became our life project”. Today we can say we got it! Thanks and a lot of thanks to my dear UNAD!
