2013 LRS BRONCOS

The Broncos swarm around their second straight WIAA 2B State Championship trophy after defeating Morton-White Pass in a Goliath vs. Goliath defensive battle, 7-0.

Connor O’Neill has provided plenty of explosive offense this season. He delivered the biggest touchdown of his career Saturday, scoring on the first play of the scrimmage on a 69-yard burst that proved to be the only touchdown of the game. It came just 16 seconds into the game.

The fan support of the Broncos was a huge factor. Head coach Greg Whitmore said the cheering section was so loud at times that his players couldn’t hear their coaches from the sidelines. He said that was a good thing!

Football Memories

From the “press box,” this was the view when the Broncos met the Timberwolves at midfield for the coin toss prior to the start of the game.

Connor O’Neill gained 124 yards rushing on 16 carries with one touchdown. His touchdown in the opening seconds of the game proved to be the only score the Broncos would need to claim their second straight 2B title.

Quarterback Dylan Hartz went through his pregame routine looking focused and relaxed. Here he loosens up his arm, throwing to Bridger Smith on the sidelines prior to the start of the game.

As he has done all season, Jarradd Morley leads the team on the field, while carrying the Broncos’ flag.

The Cheer-Leaders

One last time the team captains hold hands before heading to the coin toss. These four seniors are Dylan Hartz, Ryan Whitmore, Connor O’Neill and Tyler Frederick — proven leaders and terrific young men.

Dylan Hartz tries with all his might to register a first down.

With a vise-like grip, Jarradd Morley refuses to let go of Morton-White Pass’s Brian Reynolds as he tries to gain positive yards for the Timberwolves. According to WIAA, Morley finished the game with four unassisted tackles. Cort Ruzicka gets sandwiched on the sidelines while battling for yards.

It was difficult for MWP quarterback Rylon Kolb to escape from the relentless pursuit of Ryan Whitmore.

The LRS Defense Delivers

HUGE HITS

Defensive coordinator Jason Aldrich sends in the play from the sidelines early in the first half. It was a bit chilly in the Tacoma Dome when the game started. It didn’t take long for things to heat up as the two teams provided a classic defensive battle.
