Awesome Day at Annual Anchormen Wrestling Golf Event News: * Billy Cotter Hall of Fame Induction October 18 – Ticket information Below * RIC Homecoming 5K Race/Walk October 18 Register Below
Valley Country Club hosted the annual RIC Wrestling Golf Outing for the fourth straight year. We had a great turnout and a beautiful day. Caparco family won the event with Chris Nychinski (missing from photo) as Coach Jones presented them with this year’s trophies.
A tremendous day of fun all for a good cause as the Anchormen wrestling program raised money toward team travel. The program is very thankful to alumni, friends, supporters, the wrestlers and families, as well as the staff at Valley Country Club for helping us put on a great event. Mike Caparco, Chris Nychinski, Michael Caparco, and Anchormen Justin Caparco shot an amazing –14 to win the tournament. (see more golf news below)

RIC Wrestlers proudly serve the community
The wrestling team takes part in five community service efforts including three in the preseason weeks leading up to the first practice date. Above the Anchormen took part in the annual Green up, Clean Up event on campus. They also made an excellent effort in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk. They took three shifts set up, walk team, and breakdown. Kristen Steiner campaign manager for the Light the Night walk for the L.L.S. said, “Jay, Thank you so much for everything you and your team did this past Saturday. I could not have done it without them! Your team is filled with amazing young men!!” Ms. Steiner sent a letter to RIC President Carriuolo on behalf of the team.
Lymphoma survivor and event organizer Maryssa Capone, who is the niece of RI referee Joe Capone and cousin of Dave Capone, said, “thank you so much, the guys worked great in teams and really helped us out. They were so helpful and a pleasure to have.”
RIC Wrestling thrives on Homecoming Fund raising events Homecoming 5K supports RIC Wrestling
The college’s annual homecoming weekend will feature a 5K Race/Walk featuring a “classic” run. Bring the family out to a nice healthy event supporting the Anchormen wrestling team. You will be able to find the registration link on the RIC Athletics website and the brochure will be on future emails. Save the date Saturday, October 18 at 9am.
Golf Ball Drop Raffle Extravaganza! RIC’s annual raffle giveaway to support the wrestling team. Imagine thousands of golf balls dropped off the top of a construction lift with 18 flags with awesome prizes below. The numbered balls serve as a glorified ticket number. GRAND PRIZE $1,000 nd 2 $500, 3rd $250 plus 15 other prizes!
