# 27 Anchormen takedown #16 Johnson and Wales to claim cross town rivalry bragging rights with a 19-18 win

JWU put on a great event with USA kids wrestling, mat spotlight, and video presentation making it a great event for Rhode Island wrestling. Providence - Led by freshman Justin Caparco’s (Johnston, RI) major decision at 174 lbs., the Rhode Island College wrestling team knocked off No. 16 Johnson & Wales, 19-18, at the Wildcat Center on Friday evening in New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) action. The two teams are both in top four of NEWA. "It's always a great cross-city rival and I am so proud of our kids for being up to the challenge," said Coach Jones. Caparco’s win at 174 wasn’t the only big match of the night. The key wins for the Anchormen came at 141 and 149 where

two of the best kids from their respective weight classes faced off. Ricondo Cole dominated all three phases of his match with former number one ranked Mike Ferinde almost picking up the major 10-3. Joe Slane was another key to victory defeating former number one ranked Joe Gaccione. The match went to overtime and Slane took the shot to win. The night got started at 197 lbs. with JWU sophomore Dylen Seybolt had a thrilling match with RIC freshman John Georges, and a 9-7, victory for the Wildcats made it 3-0. However, RIC quickly knotted the match, 3-3, thanks to a 2-0 decision from senior Brian Nicoll at 285 lbs.
