Resident Magazine: March 2014

EDITOR’S NOTE “What in the world does the Resident really know about fashion, has been the common refrain from many here on our staff. When I told my companions that we will be doing our first fashion edition in March, nearly everyone laughed. “Stick to travel, real estate, culture and dining but for God’s sakes -. Well, I’m happy to report that impulse prevailed; the rest is for our readers to decide. Because we wanted to drive home this fashion theme we chose to do two fashion-forward covers! This month features both Megan Boone from NBC’s new hit series, The Blacklist and Morgan O’Connor, the new face of Ralph Lauren’s Polo. These two sexy New Yorkers exemplify the direction the magazine is headed and we think that you will find their interviews both enlightening and engaging. We thank them for gracing our pages.

This is also the first fashion shoot that we produced ourselves from start to finish. We have ten (yes, 10) pages on the bank robbery story featuring two up-and-coming male models. Shot by the wellknown Chinese fashion photographer, Jan Sol, the shoot evokes a bygone era where robbery was romanticized and criminal events were subject to cinematic revisionism. Let’s just say, eye candy for both fashion aficionado and blockbuster fans alike! In addition, we have a story called Fukushima, Mon Amor that pushes the envelope for fashion being about body and emotion within the context of landscape and history as much as it is about style and status.

Our Spring Shopping Guide is devoted to the latest trends in beauty, color and accessories. Use this as a tool when making your next purchase. We’ve culled only the best and really think you will find the pages informative. Additionally, we have a roundup of the latest looks at NYFW. This is our first time brining you extensive coverage; and it’s our hope you love it as much as we do! As must be obvious, our travel section is far from usual this month. In keeping with our fashion theme, we decided to highlight the Fashion Capitals of the World. From Miami to Milan and LA to London (and Paris, of course) we’ve got your interest in couture covered! Each image was especially chosen because we believe it best represents the respective city in which it was shown. Next time you find yourself in “Gay Paree, think: Resident because no matter what your point of origin, feeling at home is New York specialty, one that our magazine has worked hard to master.
