Instructor Profile Meet our Instructor: Kenna Riplinger Kenna found yoga by chance in 2010 when she decided to take a community class, largely for stress reduction. She was immediately taken with the combination of power and grace that the practice required. It was love at first vinyasa. In 2013 she completed her 200 hour teacher training with South Okanagan Yoga Academy (SOYA) under Mugs (Marion) McConnell, and Kamala Wilkie. She is thrilled to be commencing her 500 hour teacher training with SOYA this spring. She looks forward to being able to be of further service to her students by deepening her knowledge of therapeutics, effective sequencing, and teaching methodology. Kenna’s main goal through teaching yoga is to make people feel good about themselves both physically and psychologically through combining the practices of movement and mindfulness. She looks forward to seeing all of you on the mat! Information about Kenna’s yoga class can be found on Page 19 of this guide.

Like Art Activities? Check out “Arty Smarty” on Page 8! CHILDREN’S FITNESS CHILD TAX CREDIT: The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit allows parents to claim a maximum of $500 per year for eligible fees paid for each child who is under 16 at any time during the year. The Department of Finance has indicated that, in order to qualify for the tax credit, a program must be: • Ongoing (either a maximum of eight weeks duration with a minimum of one session per week, or in the case of camps, five consecutive days) • Supervised • Suitable for children, and • Substantially all of the activities must include a significant amount of physical activity that contributes to cardio-respiratory endurance plus one or more of: muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility or balance. Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty said, “Studies show that regular physical activity has more positive affects on children, including balanced growth and development and improved physical fitness. This measure will help parents offset some of the costs associated with these activities and start children down the road to a lifetime of healthy, active living.” The physical activity for which tax receipts are issued should encourage children to strive towards at least 30 minutes of sustained moderate to vigorous physical activity per session for children under 10, and 60 minutes for children 10 and over.

With close to 400 seats, the theatre is fully equipped and available for rental by local and touring artists, performing ensembles and concert promoters from within the Okanagan and around the globe. The lobby is also a perfect place for receptions, parties, weddings and community events from small trade shows to exhibitions and craft sales.
