What’s New Instructor Profile - Teresa Maurer Teresa G. Maurer has been passionately involved in the practice of healthy living for more than 20 years. Certified as a personal trainer and group fitness trainer(ACE, AFAA) in the ‘90s, she gravitated to a more holistic approach to fitness, becoming a professor of Yoga (SOYA, IYTA, E-RYT Yoga Alliance and YogaFit). Adding different modalities to her evolving practice, she advanced to Ayurevedic Medicine, Holistic Nutrition and Thai Yoga Massage. Teresa is the former owner of ReFlexions Studio & Yoga School (Penticton). She enjoyed the versatility of teaching Bootcamps, Biggest Loser Pro, P90X training, Hot Yoga, Xtend barre, Zumba, Mat Pilates and most recently BodyShred. As a former trainer to the Okanagan Hockey Academy, specializing in always putting safety and mind/body awareness first. “I've had the privilege to host the '4th Annual Lose it for Life Challenge' this year with of course a whole new take on the program - we saw some very impressive results over the course of the program. “It was great to hear how easy it was for a lot of the participants, with the right tools and armed with the right knowledge I believe anything is possible, doing personal training in the small but suffice Oliver gym has been great this winter - I've enjoyed meeting some great new faces and looking forward to building many friendships to come. “This spring I'm happy to introduce High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T), and for the 65+ , Low Intensity Interval Training (L.I.I.T) - this is a very popular fitness trend showing up in all major cities, Oliver should be apart of this trend too! “The fact is most of us are scrambling to find time to work out ... HIIT is a 30 min cardio, with interval overload that pushes you into a calorie burning machine! “This program is meant to be challenging , but it's only 30 min. You'll be amazed at how good you can feel after only 30 minutes! The LIIT version is less impacticual on the joints and you learn to move safely and effective and feel good.” Teresa is now transplanting herself firmly in Oliver. Help show your support for Health and Fitness and "H.I.I.T" one of the spring classes and see what everyone else is raving about!

Oliver Pool Rules & Regulations All the rules and regulations are clearly posted at the pool in various locations. For everyone’s comfort and safety please obey all the rules at all times. RULES WORTH REPEATING: • children six (6) years and under and any child unable to competently swim one width of the pool MUST be within arm’s reach of a responsible guardian 16 years or older AT ALL TIMES • shower before entering the pool • disposable diapers are not allowed in the pool without snug-fitting plastic pants worn over (available for sale at the pool office) • patrons with infectious or contagious conditions such as pink-eye, chicken pox, etc. or open weeping sores will not be allowed into the pool • please listen to the direction of our lifeguards at all times for your own safety and for the safety of others. Those who do not will be asked to leave the pool area. • Public showers are available during public swim times only. Lightening Policy Because of the unpredictable nature of lightning and its often disastrous consequences, the Oliver Community Pool will always adhere to the following safety guidelines as set out by the NATIONAL LIGHTNING SAFETY INSTITUTE. 1. When thunder is heard 30 seconds or less after a flash of lightning is observed, the pool will be cleared. Staff strongly recommends that all patrons remain inside the pool building until the storm subsides. 2. Pool activities shall remain suspended until 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard. There will be no exceptions. It should be noted that storms are erratic and even though it may appear ‘safe’ to resume activity, it is not. 3.
