It’s a Cook Off! Have you ever dreamt of taking your family and friends to a five-star restaurant featuring your recipe? Have you wanted to see the joy on the faces of strangers who are enjoying your food?

To capture the spirit of sharing and feasting in the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan in July, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre calls all creative individuals with a hidden or outspoken love for the culinary arts. From self-proclaimed chefs to seasoned professionals around the island, they invite everyone to participate in a recipe contest during the month of June. Grab your chef’s hat and put your kitchen skills to the test to create your best Ramadan-themed dish. Whether you prefer to create a starter, main course or dessert, a traditional dish straight from your mother’s kitchen or an innovative interpretation with your favourite ingredients, all submissions are welcome. Kempinski’s culinary team, led by executive chef Stefanos Melianos and chef de cuisine Issam Seddoq, will invite the authors of the three most creative recipes back to the hotel’s Arabic cuisine restaurant, Baharat, to participate in a cook-off on June 23. The winning dish will be featured on its Iftar and Ghabga Ramadan menus throughout the Holy Month. Email your recipe with a photo of your dish between June 1 and 15. There will be great prizes for the taking too, for both the winner and the runners up. Traditional flavours If you are looking for inspiration check out Baharat’s dinner menu, showcasing an array of traditional Arabic dishes with a modern twist. selection of local delicacies from Bahrain. Traditional favourites are brought up-to-date with artistic and modern interpretations to take you on an unforgettable culinary journey. Dishes such as stuffed pigeon, lamb tagine, chicken stuffed with freekah and salmon with kunafa are some of the delights on offer. Live cooking stations allow you to see the talented chefs in action; saj and tandoor ovens ensure that the breads are fresh. To experience this for yourself, visit Baharat between Wednesday and Friday from 8pm to 1am. Baharat is also open for an extensive international buffet brunch every Friday from 12.30-4pm. From a selection of your favourite appetisers to a sushi counter, a pasta station and a spread of beautiful desserts, there is something delicious to satisfy every palate. All the dishes are made using the finest, freshest ingredients, with many of the vegetables sourced locally from a farm in Karranah, a green oasis minutes away from Manama.
