Smoking Pulled Pork, North Carolina Style Fort Worth's best late night eats- It is a well known fact that spending a full evening in your favorite watering hole takes a lot out of you. So where do you go to replenish yourself with the requisite ratio of carbs and grease to mitigate the next day hangover? Fort Worth has some great late night spots that aren't of the big chain restaurant variety, so copy and paste this list into your mobile phone and rest assured that you have the low down on Funkytown's top late night eats. A-Basin will be selling 14 oz. plastic souvenir mugs for $25. Mugs can be purchased for unlimited tasting from noon until 4 p.m. or while supplies last. Must be 21 years of age to participate. Remember, A-Basin's base elevation is 10,800 feet, so pulled pork and extra responsibly at that elevation. A bottle of Texas Pete hot sauce. That's correct, and I didn't know whether to cry, laugh, or just shake my head. Any reputable barbecue restaurant will have spicy vinegar laden "Carolina Sauce," and the fact that they didn't have it nor had no idea what it was, is proof of its quality. The pork was way too dry, as it was overcooked, and lacked any of the smoky flavor I look for from pit cooked meat. I think they actually use a traditional oven, even though they claim they are a "pit place." The pork didn't pull apart easily either, and lacked any detectable sauce whatsoever. I don't like paying $15 for a slow cooker bbq bbq pulled pork dry rub platter, that can't get the main course right. Visitors can also enjoy the Farm Kitchen Cafe where you can purchase culinary delights like pulled pork, pulled chicken, farm fresh sides, homemade caramel apples, kettle corn and fresh baked goods. An entire family meal which includes slow cooker bbq pulled pork meats such as baby back ribs or chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and bread is reasonably priced and the meal really goes a long way. This isn't your typical pulled pork sandwich shop, the meal at the restaurant at Westgate Lakes Resort are excellent. 45 Tchoup is a low-key neighborhood bar, with friendly bartenders, a great jukebox, and free wi-fi. It looks a bit divey on the outside, but, some of the best spots in New Orleans all have that in common. Once indoors you'll be pleasantly surprised. Drinks are relatively inexpensive and there are multiple televisions for your sports viewing pleasure. If there's a Saints or Red Sox game, rest-assured, it will be on one of the big screens. No food is served, so dine before you drink or prepare for dinner in a bottle. Any list of top baseball foods requires at least one nod to the tradition, the classic simplicity, of your basic ballpark hot dog. And while many fans swear by their home team dogs, you can't go wrong with a Fenway Frank. Supplied by local Chelsea business Kayem who's been making hot dogs since before there even was a Fenway Park Fenway Franks are steamed then grilled then served New England style on a bun that's split on top bbq pulled pork and crustless on the sides topped with as many or as few fixings as you desire. If you love steaks, I recommend Morton's The Steakhouse. They offer prime generous portions of beef that are both tender and tasty. A little on the expensive side, but this isn't Denny's or Ihops steaks either. If you want the best, you have to shell out a bit more. I'm not in Kansas now, but will be in a few weeks. I'm going back to Oklahoma Joe's. If I'm going to have pulled pork, it's at least going to taste good and cooked and served by pros.
