With continued record breaking heat in Broken Arrow and the rest of the state, it's important to fix meals that will satisfy the family without over-taxing the air conditioner and heating up the house. This wonderful orange chicken is a delicious meal that the whole family will love. Succulent chicken thighs are browned and then simmered in a yummy, but not overly sweet orange sauce. Served over rice and garnished with green onions and parsley, this bird looks as wonderful as it tastes. Dinner is my favorite meal to order at The Wave. I have had almost everything on the menu. My favorite is the braised chicken Pot Pie. It is made with tender pieces of dark and white meat, peas, mushrooms, and carrots, topped with a piece of flaky, thyme pastry. It is very tasty and filling. It is priced at $19.99. All other items range in price from $17.99 to 28.99. Appetizers and sides are offered too. Try the black bean chili appetizer or a side of the stewed mushrooms or wilted rainbow chard. The simplest way to save money on groceries is to make the best use of the things you buy. Instead of shopping for groceries at random, write up a menu either before you get to the store or as you shop. Divide your menu into Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert and Snacks. A great way to save money on groceries is to limit the number of items you buy for each category. You'll end up buying less and consequently spending less money. In addition, you will create greater variety in your menu over time, by having different things each week instead of everything at once. This small restaurant has great food with a French flair, however, the atmosphere is quite noisy and can be distracting. The food, however, is very good if you can tune out the noise. Roasted Beets with Goat Cheese Wontons is a great starter and their coq au vin slow cooker good housekeeping is a favorite among the locals. Good service but pricey. To coq au vin slow cooker serve divide the spaghetti into four servings. Top each serving with a chicken breast and a fourth of the sauce. Sprinkle with the grated Parmesan cheese. Breakfast is a bit Spartan by some standards but remember I'm only a few hours away from my main meal of the day. Two slices of twelve grain toast dry and a piece of fruit. Today it was a banana and I made it into a sandwich. I don't normally drink juice for an important reason, four ounces of OJ is the same as a whole orange and I would rather have the volume as well as the fiber. Black Columbian coffee and ice water were the beverages of the morning. Don't leave coq au vin pie ordering dessert. The dessert offerings are served as mini trios. I recommend the Crispy and Crunchy. It's vanilla-braised pineapple spears, almond-pineapple-raisin baklava, and zucchini carrot cake with vanilla panna cotta. All 3 are heavenly, and leave your taste buds wanting more. There is also a sorbet trio that serves as a lighter dessert offering.
