Early Childhood sCrEEning: 952-226-0975 The early childhood years, from birth to the start of kindergarten, are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is doing at ages three to four. The screening process identifies, at an early age, possible health or learning concerns so children can get help before starting school. All children need to be screened before enrolling in kindergarten. If your child is of screening age and you’d like to schedule an appointment, or if you are conscientiously opposed to screening, please contact our office. E-Mail: ecscreening@priorlake-savage.k12.mn.us

E- m a i l a P a r E n t Educator: Do you ever wish you had someone available to answer your parenting questions...How do I get my child to eat their vegetables? When should my baby sleep through the night? ECFE is offering a wonderful service to families in the Prior Lake-Savage areas. Anytime you have a question about parenting just e-mail your question or concern. One of our licensed parent educators will respond with information to help you make wise parenting decisions.

We’ll cover the wide range of topics that have been keeping you awake at night… including strategies for dealing with the nights when baby just won’t sleep! We’ll discuss establishing healthy patterns from the beginning of life, setting up an infantoriented environment in an adult-friendly home, synchronizing babies’ needs and parents’ needs, and responding to baby’s cries and cues. The first months of an infant’s life are so fleeting and so important; don’t wait another minute to start making the most of this very special time.

Brand new babies are a delight and a mystery. Come join other parents of young infants as well as a parent educator to unravel the mystery of who this little person is that has come to live with you. advisory CounCil CornEr: “FriEndships” ECFE classes are a wonderful way to meet new people and make new friends for children and parents alike. I began my career as an ECFE parent as a new mom in a baby class. I am proud to say that I am still friends with those moms I met when we were all brand new parents, struggling with those middle of the night feedings, colic and diaper rash. When we moved to Prior Lake a couple years ago, I knew that the first thing I had to do was sign up for an ECFE class and meet some other moms in our new hometown. I was blessed again to find amazing friends in a class that bonded instantly. We learned a lot about ourselves, each other, and our children during parent education time. Soon our group of friends started meeting outside of ECFE for play dates and ladies nights and our friendships continued even when the class ended.
