Fitness, Health and Wellness Free Indoor Walk/Run at Prior Lake High School

The indoor walking track will be open most evenings for those who wish to walk or run at their own pace for cardiovascular and fitness benefits during cold weather conditions. Running and/or jogging will only be allowed 7:30-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Enter through the lower level. Sign in when you enter. Pick up your calendar to check schedule changes. Dates and time subject to change based upon high school activities. No walk/run when school is not in session. No food/beverages allowed; water only. Thyroid Issues: Things You Need to Know

Instructor: Janice Novak If you currently take thyroid medication but are still gaining weight and still have a variety of symptoms, there’s more you need to know. Fatigue, weight gain, depression, anxiety, rising cholesterol levels, inability to focus, thinning hair, digestive problems, abnormal blood pressure, reduced sex drive, and heart palpitations are only some of the symptoms. Creative Corner Wine & Design: Alcohol Inks (Ages 13+)

Instructor: Dar Brooks Use alcohol inks to create gorgeous vivid art! It is an amazing free flowing medium. Enjoy learning what the inks are and how to use them to create beautiful flowers, landscapes, and abstracted looks. Tools, inks and the best products to purchase will be discussed. You will practice using the inks on different types of papers and then Dar’s demonstrations will be broken down to a step-by-step painting process on a 12 X 12 canvas. Cooking Basic Canning 101

The Art of Sushi

You will begin by preparing the coveted sushi rice then you will learn the art of “nigrisushi” (hand molded rice) topped with shrimp, unagi and ahi tuna. Insurance Discounts

Minnesota State Law requires all insurance companies to provide a 10% auto premium reduction for persons 55 and over that successfully complete a Driver Improvement course. To qualify for the discount, you must take an 8-hour course. To maintain the discount, MN allows the 4-hour Refresher course once every 3 years. There is NO written or behind-thewheel tests given in either 8-hour or 4-hour refresher course.

Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Community Education is always looking for enthusiastic instructors and new class ideas that help meet the needs of learners of all ages and interests. Our staff is here to help answer your questions and help you refine your ideas. You are at the core of our community-centered program, and we will do everything we can to support you and make your class a success. Bring your energy and talents to the classroom! We do not require a teaching license, only that you have a passion for communicating concepts in an organized and easy to understand manner. Adult classes occur in three seasons, fall, winter and spring/summer. Classes are scheduled to match with community needs, our district calendar and your availability. You will receive an instructor’s handbook with all the practical details you need to know, feedback from class participants and appreciation for your efforts. Satisfaction Guarantee

Please call the Community Education Office at 952.226.0080 if you are not satisfied with any class or activity in which you participated. We appreciate being notified as soon as a concern is noticed, so that we may have the opportunity to improve the program for all participants.

Class Confirmations

Community Education does not mail class confirmations. If you provide an email address at the time of registration, a confirmation will be emailed to you. We will contact you by phone or mail if there is a change. Please list a daytime phone number so we can reach you if a class is cancelled. If there is a last minute change, signs are posted at each site with your class information including class title, room numbers and times of classes.

Refunds

Class cancellations requested no later than 4:00 pm, five business days prior to the first day of class may be eligible for a refund. All refunds are subject to a processing fee of $5 for courses up to $99 and $10 for courses $100+. Refunds are not issued after 4:00 pm five business days before a class starts, due to commitments made to instructors. Call or visit the CE office to cancel a registration. Community Education reserves the right to withdraw a course due to lack of enrollment or loss of a suitable facility. Participants will receive a full refund for CE initiated cancellations. Full refunds are also issued for weather cancellations, if a course cannot be rescheduled or if the rescheduled date does not work for the participant.

Cancellation

Community Education reserves the right to withdraw a course due to lack of enrollment or loss of a suitable facility. If we have to cancel a class, every effort will be made to contact all the participants who preregistered. Please include on your registration form a phone number where you can be contacted during the day. Community Education assumes no responsibility for reaching registrants who do not provide an accessible daytime phone number. When ever possible messages will be left on voicemail/answering machines. If an email is provided at time of registration, notifications will also be sent to the address provided.

Special Requests

If special assistance/accommodations is needed to participate in a Community Education Program, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to start of program to allow enough time for special accommodations.

Participant Waiver

Registration for any class waives all rights and claims for any and all injuries from whatever cause suffered by participation in activities.

Privacy

Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or for other unavoidable reasons. These sessions are made up whenever possible. If school closes during the day due to bad weather, Community Education will cancel all activities. Call 952-2260080 for evening or weekend cancellation information.

The information requested on the registration forms will be used to verify eligibility as well as determine staff, facility and equipment needs. Your registration information may be provided to school district staff, volunteers, instructors, the school district attorney, insurer and auditor. Your email information is for internal use only and will not be sold or solicited. Photographs or videos of classes in action may be taken and used for district publications and web pages. If you object to having your picture used, please notify the Community Education Office at 952226-0080 each time you register.

Discounts

Non-endorsement Policy

Eligible UCare members may get up to a $15 discount on many community education classes in Minnesota. Members must have UCare insurance at the time of registration and throughout the duration of the class. Members need to provide their UCare ID number when registering for class. Limits and restrictions may apply.

Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance and payment plans are available to residents of PLSAS. Assistance of up to $100 is available for one program per PLSAS resident in each catalog season (Youth or Adult). Some programs are not eligible. Call 952.226.0080 for assistance.

Prior Lake-Savage Community Education works with specialists in their fields who are interested in presenting classes in their areas of expertise to the community. We do not endorse the opinions or business affiliations of the instructors. All financial seminars are carefully screened to ensure they are strictly informational in nature. Although most seminars are presented by professional financial planners, the design is nonbiased and non-sales oriented. You will not be pressured to make a purchase or meet with sales people. We prohibit the direct distribution of flyers, pamphlets or marketing materials that promote specific products, services or companies. We do, however, offer you the opportunity to receive an instructor’s business card or you can ask for more information should you have additional, specific questions that go beyond the content or time frame of the seminar.
