Safe at Home-On My Own

Laker Dance Team Clinic

If you (or your parents!) are feeling nervous about you being home alone for a little while, this class is the solution to helping you feel more prepared. Safe at Home will answer your questions about setting up your routine to be by yourself when your parents are not home. Class will cover using the telephone, common household emergencies, basic first-aid, and more. Course fee includes a student workbook. This class is intended as a tool to help families prepare youth for staying home alone. Safe At Home will not fully prepare all youth for the responsibilities involved with being at home alone.

Come and shake off the winter blues with the Laker Dance Team at the Prior Lake Dance Team Winter Youth Clinic. Learn a variety of skills along with a short routine from the Laker Dancers. You will then perform this routine at the Prior Lake Dance Team Community Show that evening. Youth participants are also invited to a pizza party with the dance teams after the clinic. Parents, you are encouraged to invite other family members to see your child perform, as well as see performances by the Prior Lake Varsity, JV and B-Squad dance teams. The Community Show is a night that PLDT proudly performs their routines for the community as they prepare to make their way back to the State Dance Team Floor in February. Please wear comfortable clothing, lightweight tennis shoes or dance shoes, and bring a water bottle. Fee includes a T-shirt and two tickets for your family to watch the performances. Additional tickets may be purchased ($5 for Adults, $3 for Students). Camp proceeds benefit the PLHS Dance Team. Register and provide a T-shirt size by January 15th.

If Community Education is NOT notified otherwise, we will keep students for class. • If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child from class, please let the instructor and/or a Community Education staff person know ahead of time. Students may not walk or bike home from a CE class. • Drop off your child in the classroom on time each session. • Elementary After School CE Participants will be dismissed from their elementary classroom to Kids’ Company (KC) Staff. Students will eat snack (provided by CE) with KC. CE class instructors will pick up registered class participants from Kids’ Company. If your child has allergies or dietary restrictions, please provide them with a snack each day. • Pick up your child in the classroom at the class ending time. Security codes will be issued to parents by email (at locked buildings). Watch your email for that code. If you cannot pick up on time, you are expected to make other arrangements for your child ahead of time. Late pick ups are subject to a fee. Parents are responsible for contacting Community Education if they do not receive the code. • Inform the instructor AND a Community Education staff person of any allergies, special needs, or behavioral concerns that may help us to provide the best environment and instruction for your child and the other students enrolled. • The behavior of students is expected to be appropriate for the class learning environment. The instructor and Community Education staff reserve the right to dismiss students immediately, without a refund, when behavior is not appropriate or jeopardizes the safety of them or other students. Should this become necessary, parents will be contacted and expected to pick up children immediately. Registration implies consent. Please Note: These procedures have been modified for Winter 2016.
