Are you the person with a special interest, talent or subject knowledge that you’d like to share with others? We are looking for teachers willing to add a little “class” to the lives in Prior Lake-Savage. You don’t have to be a licensed teacher. Enthusiasm combined with knowledge of a subject or skill in a special interest area will be enough to get you started.

We’re Looking For YOU...

Those of us in Community Education are here to provide assistance on class content, handout production and more. We’ll let you know what we expect, how we will promote your classes and do all we can to help you succeed. You’ll receive an instructor’s handbook with all the practical details you need to know, feedback from class participants and appreciation for your efforts. But it’s not just about Community Ed, it’s about you contributing to your community to make it a better place to be and your own personal growth.

We can’t do it without YOU! Call us at 952-226-0080. Let’s get together and talk possibilities.

Advisory Councils

are active taskoriented groups who make recommendations about policies, procedures, program offerings, budgets, and more for ISD 719 Community Education Services programs. Together these groups determine what resources could be utilized to meet the needs and interests of community members without duplicating the efforts provided by others.

If you would be interested in working with a council to address the lifelong learning needs of our district, please call Leanne Weyrauch, Director at 952-226-0082, to request an application for membership.

Guidelines and Procedures Questions?

Call 952.226.0080 during office hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or email us at CommunityEd@priorlake-savage.k12. mn.us

Be an “Early Bird”

Prompt registration helps avoid disappointment when classes fill quickly or have to cancel due to low enrollment, only to find that late registrations would have allowed the class to run. Early registrations also make it easier if we need to contact you for any reason before your class begins.

Refunds

Your money will be refunded if your class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. If you choose to cancel your class registration, to be eligible for a full refund we need to receive your request no later than 4:00 p.m. five (5) business days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations for classes with supply fees must be received five (5) business days prior to the first day of class unless otherwise noted in description. Refunds of supplies are not issued after that time due to commitments made to instructors. Cancellations received after five business days will be subject to no refund. A $10 processing fee will be deducted from any refund.

Discounts

Adults (55 & over) receive discounts when noted in class pricing. All UCare Minnesota members may receive a discount of $15. If the class is less than $15, it is free. UCare Member ID must be provided at the time of registration. Sign up with a friend to receive 10% off your total up to $15. Discount must be requested at the time of registration. The friend discount is offered online and will be applied at the payment screen. The same class must be in your shopping cart in order to receive discount.

Satisfaction Guarantee

Please call the Community Education Office at 952.226.0080 if you are not satisfied with any class or activity in which you participated.

28

Cancellation

Community Education reserves the right to withdraw a course due to lack of enrollment or loss of a suitable facility. If we have to cancel a class, every effort will be made to contact all the participants who preregistered. Please include on your registration form a phone number where you can be contacted during the day. Community Education assumes no responsibility for reaching registrants who do not provide an accessible daytime phone number. When ever possible messages will be left on voicemail/answering machines. If an email is provided at time of registration, notifications will also be sent to the address provided. Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or for other unavoidable reasons. These sessions are made up whenever possible. If school closes during the day due to bad weather, Community Education will cancel all activities. Call 952-2260080 for evening or weekend cancellation information.

Are You In?

Yes - unless you hear from us. Community Education does not mail class confirmations. If you have an email address at the time of registration, a confirmation will be emailed to you. If you do not hear from us, assume that you are in the class and that it will be held at the time and place indicated. We will contact you by phone or mail if there is a change. Please list a daytime phone number so we can reach you if a class is cancelled. If there is a last minute change, signs are posted at each site with your class information on it such as class title, room numbers and times of classes.

Participant Waiver

Registration for any class waives all rights and claims for any and all injuries from whatever cause suffered by participation in activities.

Privacy

The information requested on the registration forms will be used to verify eligibility as well as determine staff, facility and equipment needs. Your registration information may be provided to school district staff, volunteers, instructors, the school district attorney, insurer and auditor. Your email information is for internal use only and will not be sold or solicited. Photographs or videos of classes in action may be taken and used for district publications and web pages. If you object to having your picture used, please notify the Community Education Office at 952226-0080 each time you register.

Non-endorsement Policy

Prior Lake-Savage Community Education contracts with specialists in their fields who are interested in presenting classes in their areas of expertise to the community. We do not endorse the opinions or business affiliations of the instructors. All financial seminars are carefully screened to ensure they are strictly informational in nature. Although most seminars are presented by professional financial planners, the design is nonbiased and non-sales oriented. You will not be pressured to make a purchase or meet with sales people. We prohibit the direct distribution of flyers, pamphlets or marketing materials that promote specific products, services or companies. We do, however, offer you the opportunity to receive an instructor’s business card or you can ask for more information should you have additional, specific questions that go beyond the content or time frame of the seminar. We hope your participation in these programs will be enjoyable. For questions, call Leanne at 952-226-0082.

Special Requests

If special assistance/accommodations is needed to participate in a Community Education Program, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to start of program to allow enough time for special accommodations.

Dr. Teri Staloch Superintendent

Instructor Spotlight Hi! I’m Josh and I help people build stronger relationships by teaching conversations. Strengthening relationships through conversation has always been one of the most interesting and valuable skill sets to work on. I started offering classes in the Fall of 2015. I did this because I used to be really nervous and unsure about what to say and do when meeting new people. Then I found some really great tools that changed how I interact and communicate with everyone and thought what if I could help other people with these issues too? The first time I learned about these social tools was in a community education class right after I graduated high school in 2000. The class was called “Can You Hear Your Body Talking?” and was being taught by Dr. Kevin Hogan. His work and help completely changed the way I interact with everyone. Now almost 17 years later, I’m still using those same social tools to connect with everyone I bump into, work with and help.

Josh Gretz Who have been the great teachers/instructors of your life? Influence Author Dr. Kevin Hogan, Body Language Expert Tonya Reiman, Speaking Expert Roberto Monaco & Presentation Genius Victor Antonio. They have all given me so many tools and tips over the years on how to make my classes transformational and entertaining. How do you embrace lifelong learning in your daily life? The biggest ah ha moments I’ve had have been during my classes. I’m constantly learning new things from my students. Always looking for ways to test what I teach in my everyday life. It’s kind of this maddening obsession but in a good way. Thank you. I hope to see you in one of my classes!
