Dream It, Make It, Share It! Did you know PLHS is providing students with the tools to create almost anything using some of the same technology and equipment found in Minnesota businesses? It’s all happening at our new Fab Lab, a small-scale fabrication laboratory filled with incredible computers, software programs, printing machines and more that allow students to produce anything they dream of creating. Students learn to identify needs in their community and invent solutions by creating designs and fabricating models utilizing engineering, technology, automation and robotics skills. What makes the PLHS Fab Lab unique is that it integrates skills from a variety of other curricular areas too including: science, math, art and design, reading and writing, and social sciences. Fab Lab students also work with the PLHS Business Education Department to learn the business side of product development by discovering marketing strategies to make merchandise available to consumers. By learning these 21st Century skills students gain a better understanding of career and job opportunities. In the spirit of learning, our goal in future years will be to open up the Fab Lab after school to Community Education and groups such as scouts, robotics teams, local artists, and more, to encourage entrepreneurs to create products. We can’t wait to see what our students and community will create! Dr. Sue Ann Gruver Superintendent
