These symptoms are not “in your head”. They are real and irritants you don’t need to live with. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is probably because you have a hormone imbalance. We’ll talk about how to get your hormone levels measured – blood test vs. saliva test and what to do with the results. Seniors pay a larger share of their income in out-ofpocket health costs than non-seniors do. The plan your friend/neighbor enrolled in may not be the best plan for you. Do you know about enrollment eligibility or that there are severe penalties if your enrollment is not timely? Where do you find answers to the important questions? Medicare is a complex issue that won’t be simplified anytime soon. We’ll discuss Parts A & B (Original Medicare), Part C (Medicare Advantage) and it’s differences with MedSupplement plans including premium outlays. Part D (prescription) plans also contributes to Medicare confusion. Find out which plan may be right for you. Or are you willing to pay an additional $1,500 annually just because you don’t understand the choices? If you will soon become eligible or have been a Medicare participant for some time, this program will provide you with information on enrollment, eligibility, coverage, cost and options. And, we will still have time for your questions. #4050 Wed, Feb. 19 Twin Oaks Middle School Jim Matson

While all young children grow and change at their own rate, some children experience delays in their development. Special health conditions may affect children’s development, too. Accessing early intervention services as early as possible will ensure the best developmental outcomes for these children. Minnesota’s early intervention system - Help Me Grow - includes two programs for eligible children. Infant and Toddler Intervention are special services and supports for children birth through age two and their families. Preschool Special Education is for children ages three to five years. Eligible children can receive services in their home, child care setting or school. Services are free to children regardless of income or immigrant status. Call 952-4965059 for more information.

E

arly Childhood Screening - 952.226.0975

The early childhood years, from birth to the start of kindergarten, is an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is doing at age three to four. The screening process identifies, at an early age, possible health or learning concerns so children can get help before starting school. All children need to be screened before enrolling in kindergarten. If your child is of screening age and you’d like to schedule an appointment, or if you are conscientiously opposed to screening, please contact our office. Email: www.ecscreening@priorlake-savage.k12.mn.us

Do you or someone close to your child have concerns about their development?

No two children develop, grow or learn in the same way or do things at the same pace. However, they do develop in predictable ways. If you have or know a child between the ages of newborn to 5 years and think this child might need extra help to learn and grow, do not hesitate to request a free, confidential screening. Go to helpmegrowmn.org for more information, or call 952-226-0980 OR 1-866-693-4769.

Free Tuition for Full-Day Kindergarten Begins Next School Year Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools has a tradition of offering innovative programs to meet family needs. For the last few years it has been an important goal to fund Full-Day Kindergarten for all of our families. Now, thanks to a state funding bill that was passed last Dr. Sue Ann Gruver spring, this goal will become a reality for the 2014-15 Superintendent school year. In addition, we are looking to potentially offer a second tuition-free kindergarten option next year, Full-Day Spanish Immersion. Language immersion is an approach to second language instruction in which the usual learning activities are conducted in a second language. At PLSAS our vision is to create a program that combines both Spanish Immersion and English instruction during the day for kindergarten students. A committee has convened this school year to study the logistics of an immersion experience for kindergarten students. The committee will present its findings and seek board approval to move forward with a Spanish Immersion concept later this school year. Where the Spanish Immersion classrooms may be housed will depend on the number of families that express an interest in enrolling their child into the program. Our kindergarten enrollment information, which will also include a HalfDay Kindergarten option, will be mailed in January. Formal kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year will take place at all elementary schools on January 23 at 6:30 p.m.

We’re Looking For YOU... The person with a special interest, talent or subject knowledge that you’d like to share with others. We are looking for teachers willing to add a little “class” to the lives in Prior Lake-Savage. You don’t have to be a licensed teacher. Those of us in Community Education are here to provide assistance on class content, handout production and more. We’ll let you know what we expect, how we will promote your classes and do all we can to help you succeed. You’ll receive an instructor’s handbook with all the practical details you need to know, feedback from class participants and appreciation for your efforts. But it’s not just about Community Ed, it’s about you contributing to your community to make it a better place to be and your own personal growth.

We can’t do it without YOU! Call us at 952-226-0080. Let’s get together and talk possibilities.

Mom & Baby Yoga See page 19 for her classes in this catalog.

Yoga has been a part of Leah’s life for quite a few years, but it wasn’t until she had her daughter that she was hooked. After having her daughter, she began attending Mom & Baby yoga classes with a friend. It was a life changing experience... a great reason to get out of the house, exercise, bond with your new baby, and meet other moms who were going through the same things. As her daughter grew, so did her yoga training. She has now completed trainings in both baby and kids yoga. Leah’s teaching experience includes being an elementary classroom teacher for the past twelve years. She is excited to offer classes for new moms and now for tots and their caregivers. Leah’s yoga classes integrate yoga with stories, songs, games, and imagination!

See what students of Leah’s are saying: “Going to Mom and Baby yoga was a special, relaxing time just for me and my baby. I enjoyed the time to bond and focus just on him. Leah is easygoing and knowledgeable, and really encouraged moms to do what their babies needed - no need to stress if you had to stop to rock or feed your baby!” “ I like this class because it was a fantastic way for me to connect with my baby and get a little exercise for myself too!”
