Join marine-life educator Carolyn Skinder from the San Simeon Coastal Discovery Center and NOAA Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to learn how to identify local marine mammals and their amazing adaptations to the sea. Touch real fur pelts, skulls, and bones, and play interactive games that will help you understand how marine mammals communicate. You’ll also learn what to do if you see a sick or injured seal, sea lion or sea otter, and what to do to keep these animals healthy.

Rocketeers, bring your water rocket from the July 31 craft day and get ready to watch it soar! Using water pressure, these rockets can reach heights of up to 60 feet. Take turns watching, predicting - and being amazed - at this simple science demonstration that brings to life the principles of inertia, gravity, air resistance. Rock out with singer Melissa Green in this high-energy interactive kid concert geared for little ones. Green is the 2012 grand prize winner of the John Lennon songwriting contest for Sing Loud! and is a Parent’s Choice Award winner as well. Melissa’s brand of folk/pop/rock music is guaranteed to have families on their feet dancing and singing along.

Get ready to get messy with some hands-on science fun! The Paso Robles Children’s Museum and the Library join forces to teach you how to make some cool scientific concoctions. If playing with slime, gak, floam, and oobleck sound like fun, then this is the program for you.
