Chevolleau', 5 ft. 9 in. x 7 ft. 1 in.Jean Chevolleau was born in La Roche-sur Yon (southwest France) and spent his youth in Fontenay-le-comte in the Vendee area. He eventually moved to Paris to study at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts. He is primarily known as a painter of brightly colored geometric works featuring themes of marshes, coastlines, harbors, nudes, horses, etc. He was associated with the movement called the "Groupe de Puteaux" which was based on the rediscovery of Fauvism and Cubism with an emphasis on synthesizing the two. Exhibitions: Ernest Trova was a self-taught American surrealist painter and sculptor from St. Louis. His works have been exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, as well as three Whitney Annuals and three Venice Biennales. He is best known for his “Falling Man”series of which their are many variations on the same theme. Trova was represented by Pace Gallery in New York from 1963 to 1985, and they held his first solo exhibition in 1963.
