THE LONGEST FOOTPATH ART GALLERY

Artist, creatives, schools and community groups have partnered with local businesses to use shop front windows as their own gallery space for the week. You will discover a range of creative disciplines on display including painted artworks, pottery, crafts, fashion and jewellery.

Artist: Todd Bourke

The main event for 2020 is a special showcase aiming to create the LONGEST FOOTPATH ART GALLERY in the CBDs of Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and beyond!

Each window acts as a gallery DAY or NIGHT to be enjoyed at a time of your own choosing. Look for the footpath stickers located outside each ‘gallery’ location or ArtWalk poster in the window and discover the creativity from the safety of the footpath. The following CBD maps will help you locate the partnered artists and local businesses - but up to date participants can be found at www.artwalkpmq.com.au Or use the ArtWalk 2020 izi.TRAVEL guide to ensure you enjoy all there is to encounter. It’s best to download the tour onto your smartphone or tablet whilst in stable WiFi, or choose ‘Open’ to stream on the go.

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE ART PIECE Snap your favourite piece on the Longest Footpath Art Gallery and tag #favartwalkpmq on Instagram or Facebook. We will be tallying the votes and awarding the winning artist!

KEEP ARTWALK 2020 HAPPY AND HEALTHY As you embark on this adventure of creative discovery remember to activate your COVIDSafe app and keep socially distanced when out on those footpaths! Oh, and stay at home if you feel unwell.

ArtWalk thanks Charles Sturt University third year Bachelor of Creative Arts and Design (Graphic Design) students for designing the footpath stickers for our LONGEST FOOTPATH ART GALLERY. ARTWALK 2020

PUBLIC ART IN THE REGION Too much art is never enough so keep an eye out for art on the go to quench your appetite. There are over 40 public artworks situated at great picnic sites, beaches and popular walking paths that you can incorporate into your ArtWalk 2020 experience. Look out for the historic ‘Folly’ at Windmill Hill in Port, ‘Spindrift’ overlooking Rainbow Beach in Bonny Hills and the humorous Camden Haven Flood Markers. Discover the King and Queen sculptural timber chairs and other pieces commissioned as a tribute to local Harry Thompson, overlooking stunning Shelly Beach. Cowarra Dam is a great spot to enjoy a peaceful picnic whilst taking in the seven Aboriginal Birpai totems and local artist Peter Allison’s steel sculpture ‘The Drip’. What is not to love?

Time to start planning your itinerary.
