“PSU is one of the only colleges in the country that has a fouryear adventure education degree. The proximity to the White Mountains is the gift that keeps on giving. So, what’s your major? Get used to this question—you’ll be hearing it a lot over the next few years. Whether you declare a major before you enroll or need some time to decide, PSU can help you get to where you want to go. And you have plenty of majors to choose from (see page 9).

No major yet? No problem. Some students start college with a major in mind. Others—about a third of entering first-year students—are still deciding. The Department of University Studies offers a personalized advising program designed to help you explore academic options and choose an appropriate major. Dedicated faculty and staff will get to know you, welcome you to university life, and serve as academic advisors until you choose a major and move on to a home department. With their help, you’ll be better prepared to graduate within four years and put your education to good use.

REAL-WORLD OPPORTUNITIES

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Research and service learning At PSU, learning takes place both in and out of the classroom, throughout the region and around the world. Whether you’re a first-year student or a senior, and regardless of your program of study, you’ll have opportunities to apply your coursework to the real world through a wide variety of projects that combine service and learning. PSU students are engaging in food recovery and food security projects, addressing human rights and poverty locally and globally researching water quality and climate issues, working on economic development projects, and much more. Whatever you’re craving, Prospect Dining Hall has it: choose from home-cooked favorites, a fully loaded salad bar, vegetarian options, pizza, desserts—there’s even a walk-up window for to-go orders. At the HUB, you can grab a quick bite at the Union Grille or a bagel and coffee at the Daily Paws. While you’re at Lamson Library, stop by the Commons Café for a latte and a muffin. Along the edge of campus on Main Street you’ll find Thai, deli, Chinese, Mexican, pizza, burgers, and more.

What you can do Do what you love or try something new! See a performance at the Silver Center for the Arts, ice skate at Hanaway Rink, cheer the Panthers on to victory at a game, visit the Museum of the White Mountains, work out in the Fitness Center, shop on Main Street—whatever you’re into, there’s always something to do on or around campus. And don’t forget the lakes and mountains that surround PSU—perfect for hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, or just relaxing.

In late October, welcome the cold weather with a hot drink and cool people at the annual First Fire in the HUB.
