Happy New Years to you and your families. We hope our alumni are just as excited about 2007 as we are. This year we are looking forward to changing the definition of fraternity. In doing this we are looking forward to implementing new ideas and programs. All of these new ideas and programs are going to improve recruitment, alumni involvement, and Push AMERICA. We don't want to give away all our secrets so you will have to read on to find out more. Delta Sigma is making its way to becoming the leading chapter on campus.

While doing this we are inviting all alumni to come back. Anytime you are passing by or would like take part in one of our events we would be more

than happy to see you! The brothers of Delta Sigma are succeeding by making our chapter the ideal chapter and we want you to be part of these exciting times.

ADD ANOTHER PI ALPHA For the first time in a few years we can add another member of Delta Sigma to the Pi Alphas.

Nicholas Kulik is the newest member of the Journey of Hope Team. Kulik is working as a crew team member for the duration of the ride. His position is Public Relations Coordinator.

Not only will he be attending to

the needs of the riders he will also make sure that as many people as possible will know about the Journey of Hope. As of right now Kulik plans to be on the North route of Journey of Hope.

Kulik has a goal to raise $4000 for Push AMERICA. His current

CHAPTER NEWS We started off this new semester with a new executive board. Soon after we established the new executive board they were sent off to St Louis for the Mid Year Leadership conference.

During the conference many innovative ideas were formulated and brought back to Delta Sigma. Now we are looking towards prosperity from here on out.

Last semester we saw our share of ups and downs. The active brothers were able to keep a similar chapter GPA of 2.8. This once again is higher than the undergrad and average Greek GPA. We also initiated three outstanding new members. Beyond this we also placed second in the BG Intramural Handball league. Generally we have been able to keep up our status as Men of CLASS and Leaders By Choice!

Besides grades and intramurals we are also moving to bigger and better positions. We currently also have two members that hold Inter-Fraternal Council positions and also have a member who is a residence advisor in Offenhauer dormitory.

Paint the Rock Fall 2006

All of our hard work has been rewarding. We are not the only people that think so. Bowling Green State University has given us the Most Improved Chapter Award, Bronze Chapter Excellence Award and the Academic Success Award.

With our new executive board and inspiration from the Mid Year Leadership Conference the men of Delta Sigma are making strives to make the Chapter even better!

PUSH AMERICA

The men of Delta Sigma have decided to take Push America to a new level this year. We have dedicated ourselves to improve. Are plans are to jump from a Level III contributor to the Centennial Society. This will entail us to submit $100 per member, hold a revenue generating event, have an existing relationship with an organization serving people with disabilities and participate in at least one national Push event. So far we have been able to complete most of these requirements. As a chapter we have already raised $1224. Our goal is at least $3000. We plan on meeting that goal by having a date auction, an empathy dinner and the Cage Sit. We are also planning on implementing bowling

with Wood Lane school for the handicap and hoping to be part of a Ohio Special Olympics event. To cap it off we have already had ten members of Delta Sigma participate in a Give-APush Weekend in Maumee, OH, at Camp Miakonda. As you have already read, Nicholas Kulik is also our Journey of Hope member this year.

We are really trying to make a difference in the community and stepping out of our usual comfort zone to do it.

REMEMBER WHEN? Do you remember this alumni?

Larry Greene is a unusual case.

He was not just an initiate of Delta Sigma but also Gamma Iota (LSU).

After receiving his undergrad degree at LSU, he went on to earn his Master’s Degree at Bowling Green State University. Later, Greene earned his PhD at the University of Alabama.

Now Greene is working for ConocoPhillips Exploration Co. in Houston, TX. He isn’t in Texas. Instead he is doing work in Deepwater Nigeria. He is an Exploration Geologist.

Larry was nice enough to give us one of his most memorable moments when he was part of Delta Sigma. It was the night of Initiation Spring 2002. Larry finally caught up with the chapter at BW3’s for a few drinks. Like usual he was forced to catch up quickly.

Soon, they were off to the next

destination. As the chapter was about to leave Larry flipped a glass over on the table-the night begins. They continue at Ron Tulley’s house. Ron, Darrel Williams, Kevin Yania, Mark Driscoll and Larry were feeling good and decided to make a stop at Wal-Mart. There they borrowed a shopping cart and preceded to push Kevin around in it. This ended soon after Mark crashed into a bush and sent Kevin flying.

After this, Ron’s neighbor calls the police on them. The rest of the gang goes upstairs to hide when the police arrive. While they were upstairs Mark decides to hide his lime on Ron’s toilet. Not much later the police leave and the party continues.

Unfortunately, the police soon return. That is when the guys decided to go to another location.

The party then picks up at Quarters in the mall. Where another Pi Kapp, Brian Yeakley, bartends. The first thing Kevin decides to do is buy a Flaming Dr. Pepper.

This is adds onto the pile of bad ideas for the night. Instead of drinking it he spills the drink on his hand. His only words were, “Wow I’m on fire.” While everyone

else is in shock Brian Yeakley grabs the extinguisher and puts the fire out.

Kevin ends up being unharmed. Darrel then rests his head on the bar and falls asleep. They woke him up and told him it was time to go to the house for initiation.

As they drive to the house Darrel decides to throw Mark’s hat out of the back window. Mark decides to jump out of the moving vehicle to retrieve his hat. Larry, the driver, wasn’t aware of this until he reached the house and noticed Mark wasn't in the car anymore. They walk into the house and tell there stories of the night so far. Soon after Mark walks into the house. He cleaned his wounds then wore them like a badge of honor for the rest of the night. The night finally ends with them initiating Todd McMullen and Jonathon Baglione.

The next morning Ron’s wife asks, “Ron, why is there a lime in the toilet?”

ALUMNI UPDATE-JOE BOROI In the most recent history of our country, the Iraqi war has touched all of our lives one way or another. There are some fraternity brothers that are serving over seas as we speak. One of these brave individuals is Joe Boroi. Once a former Archon, Boroi had been very involved as a Pi Kapp. Now he is a Captain in the U.S. Army.

After graduating in 2002,

Boroi was sent off to South Korea to command a tank platoon. While in South Korea he traveled the countryside with another Pi Kapp alumni Jeff Klimowicz. These former roommates were happy to be reunited once again.

He also was a feature story on MSNBC in 2006. The story proved his bravery when he saved a young boy’s life.

2. Pig Roast will be on April 21, 2007. This will begin around noon. It will be held at Mark Bailey’s house on Manville St. Directions will be sent out and active members will be waiting for alumni at the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house on campus.
