Volunteers are needed in Danville and Pittsylvania County to help prepare tax returns for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program led by the Building Economic Success Together (BEST) Coalition. During the 2011 tax season, volunteers throughout the region prepared over 1,860 tax returns for FREE, resulting in over 2 Million Dollars in Federal Refunds and $259,619 in State Refunds. Many of these same individuals qualified for the Earned Income Tax Credit, Educational Credits, and the Child Tax Credit.
