The great white shark is a type of large lamniform shark, which can be found in temperate coastal waters all over the world. They live in the upper part of the ocean, closer to the surface, and close to shore, where sunlight shines through the water and prey is readily available, and easily visible.
In ancient Greek mythology, Athena was worshipped as the Goddess of Wisdom and was also the patron of the city of Athens. Athena represented courage, inspiration, law and justice, mathematics, strength, strategy, arts, and crafts. She was also considered the Goddess of War and a companion of many heroes including Odysseus, Jason, and Heracles.
Capable of reaching speeds of more than 50 kilometres per hour for short bursts, they are ambush predators, taking prey by surprise from below. Once they have spotted their target they use their enormously powerful tail to charge upwards with a burst of speed, bumping the target up and out of the ocean, while simultaneously biting it.
According to mythical lore, Athena competed with the Greek God of the Sea, Poseidon, for the dominion of Athens and won by creating the first olive tree. The tree was accepted as a gift and Athena became the patron deity of the city of Athens. The Parthenon was said to have been built by the people of Athens in her honour. The Largest Seal in the World The male Elephant Seal can grow to more than six metres in length and weigh up to 4,000 kilograms. This species of seal takes its name from its great size and the large proboscis of the adult male, a trunklike, inflatable snout which is used to make extraordinarily loud roaring noises, especially during the mating season. The Elephant Seal’s torpedo shape accounts for their swimming and diving prowess that enables them to swim enormous distances through the Southern Ocean. They spend up to 10 months at sea, migrating anywhere from sub-Antarctic waters to nearly as far north as the Tropic of Capricorn in search of food, returning annually to the same place for breeding, birthing and moulting.
